About Us

Philips was founded in 1891 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, by Frederik Philips and his son, Gerard. Recognizing the opportunity presented by the mass-market introduction of electricity, and inspired by Gerard’s keen interest in scıence and engineering, the pair soon conceived a bold but timely plan: cost-effective, reliable electric incandescent light bulbs. The 1900s were a time of dramatic social and economic change. During this time, Philips became the largest private employer in the Netherlands.

Recognizing the value of scientific research to product innovation, the Philips research laboratory – known as ‘Philips Nat Lab’ – opened in 1914. Led by Dr Gilles Holst, it aspired to the highest standards of research, embarking on visionary projects, such as investigating emerging lighting technologies to discover new sources of light, while its breakthroughs in X-ray tubes ultimately marked the origin of Philips’ involvement in health technology.

I’ve had my Sonicare for about 2 years now and apart from the heads that came with it, almost every other head I’ve bought (via amazon) have been too soft to effectively clean teeth. I tried these on a whim – and because the comments were so positive and I can confirm they’re exactly as expected. After 2 years, my teeth finally feel clean without having to use a manual tooth brush afterwards

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI know these are expensive but 30ish every 6 months I don’t think is too bad!
I have been using these for about a year now and I don’t plan on ever using another toothbrush head now. I also floss, use a tongue scraper & mouthwash! *chefs kiss*

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersFits the very expensive Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige toothbrush which retails at around 300 – a VERY premium and expensive electric toothbrush. These are equally expensive at about 15 each.

They are very good – easily the best brush head I’ve used on a Sonicare. There is a noticeable difference in efficiency of plaque removal and the brush feel is firm without feeling like it is eroding your enamel! Typically they last me a couple of months, going on feel not the nagging nanny app that monitors the brush head from your smartphone, though that is about the same. So that adds up to about 90 per annum! You can use the cheaper heads which are about half the price if you think they are good enough.

There is a gotcha if you use the swish travel case for the Premium Sonicare – the cheaper heads don’t fit in the travel case. What a considerate touch from Phillips. I suppose that goes with the fact that if you owned the older model of the Premium Sonicare the previous edition of the nice glass recharger isn’t compatible with the new model.

So, despite the quality of the brush head I cant help but feel more than a bit ripped off by Phillips over the cost of these. Only you can decide if you will pay it.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis brush head gives a really thorough clean and does a really great job. I do question the colour choice of the design though. I’m sure it’s supposed to look gold but in reality the yellow/gold looks like a heavy smoker has been using it or someone’s just eaten curry or even has a gum bleeding problem. It certainly doesn’t look premium.
