Very versatile
The box with the scanner arrived well packed and without any damage.I did spent some time with the Revo 3D scanner, I’ve come to enjoy its blend of simplicity and capability. It makes you want to scan everything once you get along with it.Setting it up was fairly straightforward, and the software was quite good, guiding me step by step. While I got a few challenges with texture clarity in certain lighting conditions, the scanner’s versatility, especially its compatibility with various devices its great. The added accessories like the turntable and tripod stand were a great touch enhancing the scanning experience. I’ve heard about the lidar scanning on modern phones, but there’s something about the Revo that feels more professional. All in all, it’s a tool that requires a bit of patience and practice, but the results can be rewarding.
The Revo scanner comes with an assortment of tools and auxiliary components which are clearly labelled and most of which are useful. This includes a turntable and tripod stand for scanning smaller objects and a selfie-stick like handle for scanning larger objects. I successfully managed to scan objects using both methods.
The product is usable with any device that you would likely want to use. I had best success using it with a computer over an iPhone as I found that the wireless connection was pretty ropey, and once connection shutters the entire scan is likely to corrupt.
Revo point have considered all use cases and there is a cable for any setup, whether phone or computer. Included also was a calibration panel and bust which I assume they use to showcase the scanning capabilities.
Fortunately this plethora of components and cables, manuals and calibration panels come in a premium travel case, which is a very nice touch to keep everything together and sorted.
The Revo scan software was very straightforward to use however I did have to post process most of my scans in other design software. I was up and running with my first scan within an hour of receiving the box, which is very good.
It is worth noting that modern day iPhones have LIDAR scanning which is often suitable for hobbyists and easier to use, however often requiring a hefty subscription fee for the software. I’ve played with some of this software and did find the Revo scan to be more professional, though using the iPhone is definitely quicker and easier. Furthermore considering the price point of the Revo scan compared to the phones that most of us already have, it is likely that for a lot of people it is not worth it.
Easy to use
Easy to set up from the box and the iOS app is straight forward to use. Takes a bit of practice if you don’t have a steady hand but I found attaching it to my gimbal helped. Turn table also works well as you can set the camera on a tripod and let the turntable do the work. Has worked great with scanning things to replicate on my 3d printer.
Very easy to use. Fantastic results.
Wow, this is amazing. Until now I was not aware 3d scanners were available for home use and I am excited at all the things I can use it for. The scanner is much better than I expected and comes with a fantastic set of accessories, even including a mini dual axis turntable to make scanning objects a lot easier as you don’t have to walk around them. You get cables to connect the scanner to your phone and to your PC (desktop or laptop). You get a plaster bust included to for your first scan project. When I first unpacked everything I felt it may be difficult, but I am extremely happy to say it isn’t. I downloaded the PC software and the Android app; both are very well designed. Calibration was quick and easy; the software guides you through step by step, then guides you through your first scan of scanning the bust, if you don’t get it right first time, either edit or start again, you will get it. Start to finish took around 10 to 15 and that was with me learning as I went. You can tidy up by removing any loose bits like the dots on the mat, that is all done automatically for you before meshing. You can export the scanned file to your preferred slicing software, you can export as STL, PLY or OBJ files. I have been experimenting with various objects and of course people. I found that some things scan better than others, really dark objects are harder to scan but I have discovered there is a scanning spray to help with that. I have some antique wood carvings with damage so I shall scan in the mouldings to print blanks to make silicone moulds from. This really is amazing for hobbyists and professionals. The case is the best case I have seen anything come in, really superb quality.
Great results at all, top scanne

It’s lightweight, portable and compact size, plus it’s compatible with iOS and Android mobile devices, make it powerful tool for flexible on the go scanning.
It is very powerful tool ready for various industries and applications.
This 3D scanner ensures a smooth scanning experience for sure.
I can easily highly recommend it to anyone, for this really reasonable price and this great quality device.
Some practice needed!
I’ve played around with a few different 3D scanners at various conventions etc but this one seems to be the nearest to a “point and shoot” scanner as I’ve tried.
There is a little bit of a learning curve as you get used to the device as with anything. Sometimes multiple passes are needed to catch all the detail if your desired object has any particular crevices etc.
The software is pretty basic but easy to understand which makes this perfect for beginners and the guide helps you find your feet when you’re getting started.
The device is well made and comfortable to hold which is always a bonus.
It’s an expensive product, but the output you can – if you’re patient and take your time, is worth the cost.
Works great and has user friendly software
This arrived in a branded white box with images of the scanner on the front. Once opened everything is contained within a carry case made of a suede like material, with the Revopoint name embossed on the top. The case is double zipped, and opens up to two sections separated with a panel, and held in place with Velcro. The main camera, stand, turntable, and sample model are in bespoke sections in the bottom, with everything else in the top section.
After opening everything up I had a good read through the manual, and then went to their site to get the Revo Scan 5 software, and put it on my PC. The camera connects via USB-C to USB type A, which went into a USB 3.0 port on my PC. I like that the USB-C camera connection has a small screw in part to hold the camera cable in place at all times.
The software takes you through an initial calibration of the camera with on screen instructions, which are fairly straight forward and easy to follow. I have not used a 3D scanner before so took it very slowly, using the supplied model on the turntable. I thought the software very user friendly, giving prompts and an indicating bar showing if you have the camera the correct distance. I was very pleased with the results, and used the one click edit button to process the image which worked well, and messed about with the adjustments until I had an image I was pleased with.
I tried out the colour scanning on a few items and this worked well, although I did have a few fails due to my inexperience, but also manage to get some really clean and clear scans. I did find it picks up lighter colours much better, and really struggles with blacks, but I believe there is a spray you can get to prepare models that are dark as this is common with 3D scanning
After using this for a few days I have been able to get some very clean scans, which I have then exported and printed on my 3D printer without any issues. I have started to scan some larger items in sections, and find the more I use it, the more successful I am at getting better at the process.
Overall I am impressed with this scanner, I found the set-up process very straight forward with a really user friendly supporting software, that walks you through the process giving on screen prompts. I found the scans very accurate in size to the original, along with being easy to export and print if you wish to. I can’t really fault this product so have given top marks.
An really easy to use 3D Scanne
I really like this piece of kit. It comes in a very nice case, with all of the possible cables and accessories needed to start on your 3D scanning journey.
It comes with a turntable, that is cable of rotating in both directions. It also comes with a sample statue for you to use and practice with. the first stumbling block I found was that the manual that came with it was only in Japanese, however there was a QR code for you to scan which helped with using it.
Ever since getting it, I’ve been 3D scanning anything I can find. I was concerned with it being handheld (my other scanner is held on a stand) I wouldn’t be steady enough, however it seems to overcome this unsteadiness.
I’d recommend this pack to anyone starting their 3D scanning life.
