Small birds love these
Put on the ground for the blackbirds who love it, but the sparrows and other small birds that maybe prefer high up feeders do not complain. A feeder lasts around 2 days, so they must like it.
Birds love them!
I’m assuming these nuts are full of flavour as they disappear very quickly. I fill the feeders each morning and by tea-time the seed have disappeared. They have brought some beautiful birds to my garden – so pleased!
Good Quality
Bought 2 months ago and just reordered as the quality of the hearts and the packaging is excellent. The fact 15kg of these hearts have been taken from my single 4 port feeder shows the birds must love it and they are voting with their beaks!
Really?
Funny how amazon wouldn’t publish my honest review. Yes it wasn’t 5* or even four. In fact not three or two. However I will say thanks to maltbys for refunding me for the chemical soaked crumbs I received which had to be binned. I hope their suppliers have now corrected the recipe to a safely edible one for birds
Good quality produc
The birds love these sunflower hearts. I used to put out seed but found most of it got thrown out of the feeder and it would start to grow! These hearts are so much better with no mess. Good packaging and they arrived on time, would buy again.
Very popula
Contrary to popular belief our Goldfinch much prefer sunflower hearts. Goldfinch predominate on the feeders with competition from blue tit, great tit, long trail tit, chaffinch and even greater spotted woodpeckers. They are getting through a kilo per day.
If you have lots of birds and feeders get the 25kg sack.
I’ve been feeding the garden birds (mainly finches and sparrows) a different brand of sunflower hearts for years. However, the seeds supplied recently have been smashed up with lots of dust in the mix – making for a lot of mess under the bird feeders. Hoping to get a better quality product (without paying crazy money) I decided to try these from Maltby’s. They are of a much higher quality with very few smaller pieces. The birds are happy and are leaving very little mess now 🙂 I will definitely be purchasing these again when the current bag starts to get low.
Large bag to las
This product is good quality sunflower hearts and in bulk an economical way to buy it. It is a high energy food to keep birds alive in winter and recommended by the RSPB, being high in fat. Different types of birds enjoy these more than any other food and my bird feeder soon runs out of food. The ground feeders, such as robins and blackbirds enjoy it scattered on the ground and the blue tits, great tits and nuthatches like to hang on the bird feeder to eat. It’s lovely to watch them eat through our binoculars and know I am protecting wild life.
The small garden birds love them.
Got fed up with starlings and crows dominating the bird feeder and throwing seed everywhere. Even worse was when it started to sprout and come up like, well weeds.
So far the big birds have ignored this, they surely don’t like sunflower seeds. But the smaller birds can’t get enough of it.
Even better, no signs of it sprouting, not that any spills stay uneaten for long enough.
Well they are a bit dusty as mentioned in other reviews- however all the reviews for the other products say that as well. If you buy smaller quantities then they are more expensive, so I figured that it was still more cost effective to get these. So I do have to wash the feeder a bit more often due to that but I still think this is a cheaper option- plus the birds seem really happy with them which is the most important thing to me anyway. I have a large storage bin for the bird feed which holds 2 boxes worth, there is no collection of dust at the bottom when I get to the end, so I have decided it can’t be that bad, some dust comes off the pellets as you tip them into the feeder and there’s some in the boxes within the pellets but it isn’t so much that it’s settled to the bottom. The first box I bought left a little trail of pellets across the driveway but since that I have bought 3 more and they have been sealed up better with tape so haven’t leaked – there is no plastic bag inside the boxes as they are being more environmentally friendly. I will keep buying this brand as it is a good price and the birds like it.
