    Learning sticks
Great colour coordinated learning sticks. My 4 year old son enjoys playing with these whilst helping him learn how to count. It seems very good quality as it’s all made from wood. It also comes with a bag to store all the sticks too which is very handy.

    Great educational toy
This set is really great for developing counting, colour recognition and fine motor control. My 3 year old loves counting with it and it has been very helpful teaching her how to count, to match the colours and for introducing adding/subtraction.

It’s a Lovely wooden toy, very durable and well made, just as expected from a brand like Bigjigs.

    Nice quality
Ordered as an educational toy for a 2 and 3 year old. It promotes a variety of skills and knowledge including colours, numbers, fine motor and hand-eye skills. Quickly worked out it was best used one at a time, but the toy was enjoyed whilst still being very obviously educational. The quality of it is really nice, with a good, smooth finish to all the parts. The colours were vibrant but some of the colours were a little bit too similar depending on the lighting eg violet and purple being right next door to each other. But that did add another layer of challenge for the older child.

Realistically, unless money is no object, I do think the current price of 24.99 at time of writing is quite expensive for many parents/carers buying toys, however educational. The only reason I can come up with to justify the price tag is the fact that it is entirely wooden and well made.

    Wooden board and pegs
Another great quality product from bigjigs. Wooden board and pegs to make learning math and numbers fun; enhancing the learning process. Comes well presented in a colourful box. You get a 55 set. Completely wooden, all smooth to touch, no rough edges or areas anywhere. Painted in bright eye catching colours. The board has numbers 1 to 10 which each one a space for the wooden peg to placed on the board to give a more hands on activity and better visualisation purpose. The wooden pegs are a good size for small hands to grasp and hold. Love the hands on approach of learning, perfect to make it enjoyable so they like doing it without thinking math and learning is a chore so they like doing it.

    Counting sticks
    Counting Sticks
Fantastic quality from Bigjigs brand. The 55 coloured sticks are nice and solid, so not likely to snap. Lovely bright colours and great fit for the holes. The board is thick and decorated lovely with the numbers and lines well placed. This is great for maths skills and colour recognition with the sticks; hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to place the pegs. Pegs can be used for open play – building towers or fences or patterns – another mathematical bonus. This set comes with a drawstring bag for storage for the pegs. This looks lovely on display too-ready to inspire play and learning.
    Great quality 5*

    Made to las
These counting sticks are wooden and brightly coloured. It comes with a board to place the sticks into and that is also wooden so, a quality item. Everything is very smooth so very tactile for children to hold and use. You have to sort the coloured sticks into the corresponding numbered sections on the board. It comes with a storage bag, which is useful as pieces could easily be misplaced or lost. It is a great set for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

    Wooden counting toy
Super colourful wooden toy to encourage counting and colour sorting. The cut outs for the stick placement also helps fine motor development. Handily comes with a storage bag, but looks great when on display. Good quality and made to last. Lots of pieces for this toy, can imagine that for an older child they’d made the most of counting with this toy.

    Brilliant idea
This is amazing for kids who are learning one to ten and this is absolutely fantastic. It arrived in a small but pretty box and inside you get a wooden board complete with the pegs which you simply match in the right place. It covers counting from one to ten but also colour matching so two for the price of one. Not to mention fine motor skills and subitising numbers as well. So that’s at least four things. I thought the quality was lush and the way you also receive a lovely bag to put it in is a brilliant touch. I’m very pleased with this item! Very impressed!

    Quality wooden toy
This is a good quality wooden educational toy. The wood is smooth without splinters. The colours are pretty and attractive.

I had a couple of minor niggles. I don’t think the shades of similar colours are easy enough to differentiate, especially the two greens which are almost exactly the same. Secondly, a couple of the holes were a bit tighter than the others soy kids found the pegs much harder to get them out of there than the others.

There are an awful lot of bits to this toy, and if you have kids who like to throw things around like mine, you might find it a little stressful to keep track of all the bits. The toy comes with a drawstring bag to store the pegs in but it had no chance against my 17 month old who was determined to empty the bag out every time I put them away

Rainbow Counting Sticks – Colourful, Aesthetically Pleasing Toy & Great Way to Learn About Numbers
The counting sticks toy from Bigjigs arrived in a nicely branded cardboard presentation box which would be ideal for gifting the toy in. The set includes x55 colourful wooden sticks, a board which the sticks stand up in and a branded cotton drawstring bag for storing the pieces in whilst not in use. Overall, the set measures 37.6cm in length, 12.9cm in width and 6.2cm in height.

The counting peg toy is suitable for a child over the age of 18 months (although probably more understandable for a child over the age of 2) and would make a lovely gift. The components are wrapped in white tissue paper upon arrival and the packaging is totally plastic free which is a great environmental choice. I thought that the presentation was good and it didn’t arrive with any scuffs to the painted surfaces.

The counting toy is very hands on which encourages the development of fine motor skills and hand eye coordination, as well as problem solving in the form of matching the coloured textures held within the tubes with the correct matching colours on the board. The counting toy is also a great educational aid for cognitive development of maths skills including simple addition and subtraction as well as learning about numbers, particularly as it has the numbers printed on the wooden board.

The pegs and board are made completely from FSC certified wood and all are painted in bright rainbow colours which is both very aesthetically pleasing as well as eye catching. The set feels very durable and the pieces are perfectly ergonomic for little hands, with each of the components having a nice tactility without any sharp edges that could be harmful. I’m pleased to say the toy also came with the appropriate safety marks on the box.

The toy is an aesthetically pleasing object with bold colours and when not in use looks lovely on the nursery shelf. The fact that the set comes with a cotton drawstring bag does mean that there is a place to keep all of the sticks together which is useful although I do suspect that they may go missing over time! The counting stick set is gender-neutral in terms of colours so would suitable for both girls and boys to explore and learn.

Priced at 22.99 at the time of reviewing, this is a lovely quality toy which is a brilliant educational learning aid and is also durable and aesthetic. The toy is well made / finished and there is plenty to occupy your little one with. It is a premium feeling toy and would make a lovely birthday gift — I would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful Education Toy - Just a LOT of Bits
This is a beautifully made set with a wooden board and brightly coloured pegs that teach children coordination, counting and the relationships between the numbers 0-10. Compared to the piles of plastic junk that normally fill a child’s toy-box/bedroom, this really stands out as high-quality functional item.

Indeed, the only (very tiny!) comment that I have is that there are an awful lot of bits to this kit – and, even with the supplied cloth bag to keep them together, you can anticipate many games of ‘hunt the missing peg’.

But, even with that tiny and probably unavoidable gripe, this is a fantastic set that would make a wonderful gift to any parent/child of the right age.
