The absolute budget king
Gorgeous lights, supreme build quality for the price point, comfy to use, macro keys are so useful I don’t know how I did without them! If this is in your price range and you are looking for a new keyboard – this is your best option. The membrane is so responsive and chunky feeling, I love this keyboard.
A no brainer with decent iCUE
I wanted an orange backlit keyboard to go with my setup and the K55 is iCUE controllable allowing me to change all zones to to any static colour!
It’s surprisingly solid with a good weight to it and a nice enough typing experience for a membrane keyboard, quiet and not too spongy.
The only issue for me is the media control placement in relation to the number pad, a bit close with the play/pause but still useable.
I can’t say how good it would be for gaming but it’s almost perfect for what I want it for and at a very good price!
Good, but key prints are reversed
Keyboard looks good, feels good, but has a glaring issue: the key, what has the second image printed on it for the SHIFT key is actually reversed. Meaning for example the shift-1 is the exclamation mark. All keyboard has the exclamation mark printed ABOVE the 1, this has it BELOW… And it’s not clear from description.
Yes, it can be used, yes, it can be get used to, but why go opposite, what supposed to be? Shift means higher/above, so the keys ought to be printed accordingly. Some keyboard doesn’t even write “shift” on the keyboard, just print an up arrow.
/facepalm
Good keyboard
Giving 4 stars as the light doest not shine bright through the characters of the keys, numbers and letters are kinda dull even on brightest setting.
Had a logitech keyboard and the light was much brighter through the keys so can see the letters and numbers much better.
Absolutely fantastic
A top quality keyboard. This is ultra responsive and has improved my reaction times and points haul. Love the colouration. Dual purpose so just as comfortable as a QWERTY board as a gaming board.
5 stars
This keyboard is cheap, it feels great on your fingers and you can adjust the lights to have special patterns on the app ICUE. It is quiet big but its a perfect keyboard for a gamer or just a typis
Nice Keyboard
Still in the early days of using this keyboard and still exploring the features but so far so good.
Keys feel nice and responsive and easy to set up colour zones to individual tastes.
Is a little bit of a dust magnet, especially across the top where the Corsair logo is but it doesn’t detract from the overall usability of the keyboard.
A very high quality keyboard with vibrant lighting.
The first thing I noticed when unpacking this keyboard is that it is made of solid quality plastic and has a reassuring weight to it.
The keys are proper keyboard shape keys and have a positive feel to them which makes typing accurate and fast.
The lighting works well on the keyboard and the colours are vibrant and at a level that means they look attractive without being dazzling. The lights can be turned off when not wanted using the switch on the keyboard.
The keyboard connects via a sensibly long USB cable and is very responsive, no noticeable USB delay, so ideal for gaming.
A highly recommended gaming keyboard from a quality manufacturer.
Decent budget gaming keyboard
Keyboards are a funny thing. They have a well understood function yet their price range and features can vary wildly. Chances are, an expensive mechanical keyboard won’t improve your gameplay one bit compared to a budget membrane option like this. The action is decent and definitive for a membrane keyboard, the RGB is bright and the keycaps shine through so you get very good contrast and visibility when playing in a dark room.
The media keys are useful and are a nice bonus.
Recommended as a budget gaming keyboard if you’re not fussed about the keys having a mechanical feel.
Great keyboard for everyday gaming needs!
I’ve been using this keyboard for gaming and general typing tasks, and it’s been a reliable companion.
Pros:
*Slim and easy to set up.
*Clear and readable RGB layout adds a nice aesthetic.
*Water spill resistance provides peace of mind.
Cons:
*Membrane keys may feel slow for fast reaction gaming.
Overall, the Corsair K55 CORE RGB Membrane Wired Gaming Keyboard is a solid choice for casual gamers and everyday users alike.
Overall great but rgb isn’t perfecf
Software to manage the rgb can be a pain and whilst the purple in the pattern is a nice deep vibrant colour when it’s just a solid purple light I can’t get it to that colour instead is a much whiter shade that looks washed out which is a shame. Function wise can’t fault it but it’s key selling point is the rgb imo and that’s a bit lacklustre
Has a lot of Keys
A very good keyboard for a non-mechanical keyboard it has loads of keys to stop the music play next and ajust volume it also has extra keybindings, (eg g1,g2….up to g6) the lights can be changed to multiple colours and moments of the lgiths such as light starts pulsating if u touch a keybinding, the hard rest is very comfortable i alwasy have it on and very study with a fairly roush texture to not make ur hand slip,
i do recommend i
Everyone rates the same product slightly different.
This keyboard lets see I had the same one before and have just worn it out my only issue I had with the old one is the plastic prongs you have to bend together slightly to get the wrist rest pad off are made of plastic and break so easy the same goes for the little legs on the bottom at the back that considering they fold away so have movement are also made of crappy cheap plastic and also break if you are not mindful whenever you need to move the keyboard.
This is not related to the product directly but I bought this keyboard as part of a bundle offer with the other item being a Corsair Harpoon wired RGB mouse and they are not being delivered together and I feel on the page you buy the bundle offer on it should be made VERY CLEAR THAT THIS COULD BE THE CASE BY MAYBE USING CAPITALS LIKE I AM HERE.
Kind Regards

It Rubs the Lotion On Its Ski
This has greased the wheels of my gaming success. Though, I have to say… it is going to take me some time to get used to these macro buttons on the left. I used to have a mechanical keyboard by Corsair and now that I have this as a replacement, I keep moving my hand to the wrong section of the keyboard, placing my hands over Q, A, CAPS, S thinking I am over W, A, S, D and I keep pressing the top left G1 macro key when I am intending to press escape. I am used to using the red light as an unconscious guide to help me position my hands, which now I need to un-learn and get to grips with these G keys being the first thing my hand and eye sees.
One criticism I can make is, the zones for the lights make no sense. They literally just split it up into even parts. The only zone that does make sense is the numeric keypad is a zone of it’s own. I would have prefered to turn the lights off on the macro section, but I cannot, because the first zone crosses the G keys, all the way over Q, W, and possibly E if I recall. So, I kind of wish I had gone with the version above this so that I could have altered on a per-key basis. Not a deal breaker but the zones should have been made to make sense, not just an even split into sections.
I do like this keyboard but it is going to take some muscle memory learning curves to get around.
While not a bad keyboard do your homework if you use iCue for other products.
While not a bad keyboard do your homework if you use iCue for other products. All the lights on the keyboard turn off every time the iCue utility loads and this can only be fixed by unplugging the keyboard and then plugging it back in.
NOTE: If all the forum posts I read are true Corsair no longer support this product.
If I didn’t need the iCue software for my mouse and headphones then this would have been a fantastic buy as it is a high quality keyboard for the price. I have no idea why the iCue software doesn’t allow you to just ignore Corsair items it has detected, that would seem to be an easy solution as the keyboard does retain settings in the hardware but these are overridden by the software.
In conclusion, I would certainly recommend this if you don’t need to use the iCue software, but chances are if you are considering this it is because you already have other Corsair products and are likely to end up returning it like myself.
Well yesterday I sat looking at keyboards for hours, I decided on this one because the picture shows that the Shift key is larger than the Caps key and it has 6 programmable buttons, something I had got quite used to on my Roccatt, I have to say that I am more than happy with this keyboard.
I was using a Roccatt keyboard, I always found the keys heavy and clunky and also loud. This one is a joy to type on, the keys are quick, springy and quiet. I’d read that the keys seem smaller, I don’t think so at all, they may appear that way with the backlight behind it. I had forgotten how to touch type with the old keyboard, this is just how I like a keyboard to be, it’s very satisfying to type on!
When I first plugged it in, it worked immediately, although I couldn’t wait to get the software installed because the scrolling lights do my brain in. Set up was easy and I opted for a simple non-flashing set-up with colour-coded areas. Assigning the buttons was nice and easy too and seemed to have more options than my old Roccatt.
I like how there is a button on the keyboard itself to make the lights lighter and darker, nice when I watch films so the keyboard is less glaring. The light for Caps Lock is in a nice position too where it isn’t obscured by keys.
All in all, I am very happy, I shall be sticking with these keyboards in future, such a bouncy joy to type on. I saw someone describe the keys as ‘mushy’ in a different review, which almost put me off, but I wouldn’t describe them as that at all, they are just not ‘clacky’ or heavy, just nice and springy. if you are a touch typer you will love this keyboard, its perfect for gentle touch typing, keys are where you expect them to be and they don’t need slamming.
Strange format for shifted values on keys
My first impression was that I’d ordered the wrong keyboard (again). Somehow I managed to order a German one the first time. The values on the keys when shift is used are not displayed in the usual UK keyboard format. The shifted value is shown below the unshifted value, instead of above. It’s not the end of the world, but it takes some getting used to. It’s fine for the number keys, but a nuisance for brackets and symbols, if you’re not a typist..
Also, it took some figuring out how to stop the mad lighting effect and get a nice solid light blue colour.
That said, it’s a nice keyboard (a bit noisy, despite the blurb on the box) and the icue software (that I only found out about when Googling how to stop the bloomin’ lights flashing) has some very useful key and compatible mouse assignment functions.
An instruction manual or some obvious link to an online one would be useful, as this is not your basic keyboard and has more functionality than meets the eye.
I have been using this keyboard for a while now, and it’s absolutely amazing. Don’t let the “Membrane keys” title put you off, this keyboard built to such a high standard that you hardly notice it. The lighting on this keyboard is mesmerizing, there are several preset modes to choose from, and you can make your own. Although there is a little light leakage that causes some of the color to go onto the keys surrounding it, again, this keyboard is built to such a high standard that you hardly notice it. Also, the keys are bright and support very vivid colors, the keys can be easily seen in a completely lit room. (While typing this, I shone my phone torch onto the keyboard and the lighting remained completely visible, still at its luminous, bright colors.) (You can also dim the lights if it gets annoying, don’t worry about that)
As for gaming, this is by far the best keyboard I’ve ever used. Its response time is instant, the G keys are absolutely game changing, and another cool little feature that I appreciate is the media keys, meaning you can play songs while ingame and if you need to concentrate, you can just hit pause without having to tab out of your game to pause it, hence ruining your concentration. But no, with this, it’s as simple as just one push of a button. You can also cycle through your songs with the 2 media keys surrounding the pause key.
Now for ergonomics. I have never typed on a keyboard so comfortable. The wrist support allows you to slope your hands to the perfect typing position, and I find that I can type significantly faster with this keyboard over other keyboards. I could press the keys for hours, It feels like some type of angelic jelly has been laid underneath the keys. This combined with the wrist support creates the ultimate gaming and typing experience.
This is a lovely LOVELY keyboard but be warned it will take you some getting used to. The keys seem a little high compared to my other keyboards and the keys themselves seem a little closer together. The escape key is not the corner key I am usually expecting in that position. That space is taken up by one of the macro keys.
You WILL get used to this in time, the more you use it but this is an amazing keyboard. It worked as soon as I plugged it in and I didnt have to bother installing any software (apparently theres something you can download to make the light dance differently). I actually have the lights turned off as I find them a distraction. Now I know where the keys are I am able to find them in the dark.
Dont get me wrong they are beautiful lights but just not for me.
No problem typing and Im not getting any problems in games either with the keyboard locking up or any other nonsense that my older, cheaper, keyboard did. Yes this is pricey, but worth it.
This is a great keyboard, and when you fork out a ton of money on a keyboard you’d expect no less. There are a few issues I have with this though. For RGB it might not be as customisable as you’d think
*** Pro’s ***
– The keyboard comes with a rest for your wrists which is an amazing feature as it prevents you from getting strain or uncomfortable hands
– The keyboard offers RGB customisability that can be synced with the iCue system giving you the option to have profiles for the RGB colours
– The keyboard has macro buttons that you can map on the iCue software to create complex macros and simple macros
– Keyboard comes with volume control which allows you to skip songs, pause them, and increase total computer volume
– Keys feel nice to use even though they’re not mechanical
– Quite a large keyboard but it’s perfect for an optimal keyboard layout
*** Con’s ***
– Even though it has RGB, it’s not as customisable as you’d expect, instead of having each key able to be mapped out it has 3 sections that work as one mappable area each
– The keys aren’t mechanical and for the price it should be, might be worth spending a little extra to get a better keyboard in my opinion
Areas to improve:
– Make it so that every key on the keyboard is able to be mapped as a separate LED
– Make the keyboard mechanical instead of the weird thing that it is so the option to swap out switches is available
I love this keyboard, and even though it might not be my dream keyboard it works very very well. The macros are useful and they’re something I use in my every day life, and I find the RGB lights to be a nice addition.
For the K55 PRO XT model
Keys
The keys are not mechanical, but they have a pretty good feeling to them when pressing down, also quite responsive. They are not loud at all if this is one of your concerns. The keyboard is also packed with 6x macro keys, which can be handy for some people who are into MMOs and streamers. Definitely better than ordinary 10-20 keyboard.
Size and Comfort
The keyboard is really big. Especially if have the wrist rest attached, which is quite comfortable if you ask me. The wrist rest is made out of silicon-ish material so its not the smoothest and can get dirty pretty quick, but easy to clean as it can be removed easily.
RGB + Software
RGB lighting is really nice and looks much better compare to other 40-60 keyboards. It requires the ICUE software to run on your PC to make the most out of it. Luckily it barely put any strains on your system, so probably no issue for most people.
Worth mentioning. The Software might not recognize the keyboard at first. Updating/ Newly downloading and restarting the PC helped me. I seen others had the similar issue. There are few solution this issue is quiet common among K55 keyboards
My Experience with the K55 PRO XT
I have this keyboard for 2 moths by now and there have been no MAJOR issues with it. After a few weeks the numlock indicator light went off and the left arrow key had a different rgb colour but was fixed with upgrading firmware and restarting the pc.
I recommend buying this product but only when discounted. The 70 price tag is bit expensive for the K55 PRO XT model.
