Fits perfectly, the face plate is glued to the board so you need to use more force than you’d think, it’s glued left and right, about 1.5cm down from the top, so try and lift there on both sides. Other than that the video details exactly what to do and takes around 10mins once the faceplate is off.

    Tolles Ersatzteil

Klasse Produkt. Wrde ich 1:1 wieder kaufen. Vielen Dank!

Good replacement shell if your controller's soft touch plastic has become sticky
This ExtremeRate Bottom Shell makes a good third-party replacement bottom shell for Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. The Elite 2 controller uses the soft touch or rubberized plastic on the bottom and after a while, this becomes sticky and gummy and there is no way to clean it. Only option is to replace the shell. The ExtremeRate shell has a great build and overall fit is good. The model I got has a nice texture on the palm grip, which resembles water droplets. The back area connecting the palm grips also has a very light soft touch feel, but unlike the original shell. The grip overall with the ExtremeRate shell is not as good as original but also doesn’t feel sticky and gummy.

Installation was a bit of a challenge and even though I’ve replaced housings on the non-Elite Xbox One controllers, the Elite Series 2 is more complicated. Video guide, tools, screws and all parts are provided so that is good. I would watch the video once to get familiar with the process before attempting. The bottom shell provides for an almost perfect fit, unlike other third-party housings I’ve replaced for Xbox One controllers.

I purchased both front and back shells because my son game rages and breaks the casing alot. I had not spent out on quality shells before because of his game raging. Both front and back shell fits my sons xbox elite series 2 controller perfectly.. Good quality and strong

    Joystick Brain Surgery
This is the eXtremeRate replacement Bottom Shell Case for Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller.

I chose the Wooden Effect as the previous bottom chassis by Microsoft is just boring.

The wood effect on the chassis is a nice dark wood effect and there were no issues with paint/chips or deformities.

The set comes with everything you need including 3 different sized Torx screwdrivers, a fudger tool, and an assortment of screws/magnets/springs etc.

I has half expecting detailed instructions in the box although instead there was just a piece of paper telling me to go to their website and look at the 15 minute tutorial.

Luckily the tutorial is quite detailed and well done and it helped with me having a technical background as this was a fun task ahead.

Following the tutorial step by step and pausing where appropriate proved best from dismantling your current controller and removing all parts and then reassembling all the parts back in again in the new chassis. All the areas within the new chassis were correctly and well done as there were many things that could have gone wrong but thankfully didn’t.

Of course in these videos the joystick always comes apart easily when they dismantle it compared to when I try it for the first time on the joystick and its stuck together solid. Luckily with a bit of brute force it all comes apart with the tools provided.

Everything went well the only issue I had in the video was with the lower magnets as the video tells you one way to install them and yet in the original controller they are installed differently.

Ultimately if you have the patience the end result looks good and feels good in your hands. The smooth wood effect makes a brilliant change to the boring Microsoft black rubber finish and goes well with the black upper chassis. Recommended !

Time consuming but excellent video instructions.
You can prepare for this to take about 20 minutes to complete, you need to disassemble most of the controller both the top and bottom shells as well as move some PCBs and assemble a bunch of little bits and bobs to the back shell. It would have been nice if a lot of these bits were preassembled on the new back shell because it comes with all of the parts (you don’t have to remove a lot of pieces from the old shell) and these things could have been pre-attached at the factory. There are excellent step by step video instructions they provide on YouTube and it’s really not that complicated just time consuming.

Alignment and fit is overall very good, the only place where I feel like it should be tighter is the bottom lip in the center but it’s not really noticeable unless inspecting closely. Everywhere else is very flush and fits just like the stock backplate. After assembly nothing creaks or squeaks and it all feels solid in the hand. Love the look of the wood grain, especially since my desk (I use the controller with my PC) and area has a lot of wood accents. The only thing is that there is no nice grippy texture anywhere on the replacement backplace so the “feel” of the controller in hand is a bit of a downgrade in my opinion. The paddles etc. all worked just like they did before afterwards.

The kit comes with every tool and part you’re going to need to do the replacement, which is great… and it even comes with spares of a lot of the parts of hardware which is nice, though I just used the hardware I removed in disassembly again instead of using the screws, etc. that it came with.

I recommend while you have everything opened up to use some isopropyl alcohol to clean the trigger button switches while you’re in there as it seems like eventually every Elite controller needs these switches to be cleaned every so often anyway (I already recently did this), you’re going to have access to those switches easily during this process.

    It's not really that grippy
    Pros
    – well made
    – spare parts and bits
    – online instruction manual, saving paper
    – comfortable in hand

    Cons
    – it’s not really all that grippy for me personally

To be fair, it doesn’t really claim to be grippy but non slip usually would indicate that. It does get a little grippier with use so if you hold the controller tightly you might see different results. I’m quite light handed in general. I don’t find the normal back plate grippy either to be fair but as I say, I’m pretty light handed so I don’t see too much of an issue generally.

It is fairly comfortable, takes a bit of getting used to the random texture on the back but when you get gaming you get used to it fairly quickly when your mind is on the game.

I didn’t find it too difficult to replace the back plates. It’s not particularly the difficult part when modding or playing around with controllers though. You get the tools with it and they work decently. Just take your time until you get used to it and figure out the sweet spots. You can very easily damage parts if you’re too heavy handed or quick paced with it.

It fits well overall and does add an extra little bit of flair to the controller. While it doesn’t do much for me grip wise, you might find it more beneficial. When the texture warms up, it does seem to get better.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have bought many of their shells and tops for the series 2. Good directions in the YouTube video comes with about everything you could need and extras. The magnets are a little weak compared to OEM they are still workable and adequate. I used the bar magnets out of my old base because one of mine broke no big deal I knew better and was luck it was only 1 that broke. Doesn't sit flat but that's ok. This is a great replacement overall I recommend this companies replacement parts.
