Purchased 2 when on Promotion to replace my 2 Ring Cameras due to Ring subscription increase. Great cameras, easy to setup and can use subscription free with built in memory. The phone interface is not quite as slick as Ring and is more slick if you pay for cloud subscription, but selecting the free internal storage and playin back recordings is perfectly usable. The solar panels are working well, cameras were around 80% when installed but solar had them to 100% within a week even in February Generally very happy with purchase.
I have gone through multiple different CCTV cameras with solar panels. I live on a busy road, but don’t want to lower the detection sensitivity, as I would be compromising my security. As a result, the battery would often die extremely quickly (even with the solar panel). However the solar panel on this camera is phenomenal, I will never have to charge the battery again. It keeps it’s fully charged on a very busy road, in the middle of winter with no sun, AND it’s not even angled correctly to get the most light!
The actual product and packaging are of extremely high quality, it’s heavy and well made.
The app is very easy to use, and no cloud subscription is necessary, however I purchase this for 24 a year for ease of mind as a second back up.
The intelligent human detection is very accurate, I haven’t had to change any settings. I’ve watched it live and it hasn’t missed any recordings of people, but also didn’t record unnecessarily.
I tested both the alarm and light, the alarm is loud (although I never use it), the light is good (although I never use it).
It has a great connection to my WiFi even though it’s very far away from the WiFi router.
Everything was just brilliant quality, better than the leading brand CCTV I had. I honestly can’t fault it for the price
Bought and set up for my mum. Easy to install camera and solar panel. Easy set up on ezviz app. Nice picture night and day, they can record locally so no subscription required. Sorted and one happy parent!
The best thing about Ezviz is that they don’t force you to buy cloud storage. This camera has 32GB of internal storage and it’s plenty. The app is free and you can view recorded video clips or a live stream with your mobile phone from anywhere in the world (as long as your phone has a fast internet connection).
I installed the solar panel in a way that keeps it hidden as best as possible, but it does not face the sun at all. You could even say it faces the worst direction possible! However, it still gets plenty of sun to charge the camera. The camera always says it’s 100% charged.
The lens is wide angled and picks up a lot. The 4k picture is more than good enough. 1080p would be fine. I really like the “intelligent detection”, which only gives you alerts for human shaped objects. You can even set the “detection zone” so the camera will only give you alerts if motion occurs in a certain area of the frame. Alerts arrive very quickly- less than 10 seconds.
Installation is very easy. A few screws for the solar panel (which comes with a stencil) and then a few more screws for the camera mount. The magnetic mount is surprisingly strong, but I opted for the screw mount because I was afraid the camera would be a bit too easy to steal with the magnet.
I removed the QR code sticker from the camera so no one else could pair it. However, keep the sticker safe as it’s the only way you can pair it if you have to reset the camera!
My only complaint is that the screw mount pops off when you screw it on too tight (kind of like a jar lid that you screw on too tight and it pops off). So you have to get the tension just right.
This is a great camera and I think it’s way better than any of the doorbell cameras.
