There are really only 3 things keeping this from 5 stars and replacing my main controller: trigger molding, ON light, and Xbox compatibility.
The triggers themselves are nice, and the padded bottom-out feels quality, but the sharp plastic molding of the controller shell around the trigger was uncomfortable when depressing the triggers. It was kind of surprising considering the rest of the build quality seems pretty good.
Playing at night in a dark room, I found the green light to be extremely distracting and way too bright to the point that it was actually hurting my eyes glaring up at me from below. Maybe I’ll try some white sharpie to dim the brightness or something.
I game on PC and use Xbox-type controllers. Because this one isn’t Xbox certified, it reads as a generic controller and has a different, non-native compatibility layer for games (depending on the game).
On the Hall-effect feature, it does take some getting used to. I had to re-adjust game settings and it felt pretty good once dialed-in. The only problem is that game settings don’t necessarily know what controller is active to compensate.
Overall, build quality is satisfactory and I can see this lasting quite a while. I can also see getting a few of these as cheaper, longer-lasting, wireless, local-multiplayer PC controllers.
Such a sleek, comfortable controller. Its buttons have a clean click to them, making each press feel very responsive and satisfying. I switched to this from a Gulikit King Kong Pro 2, one of the few other controllers with linear hall joysticks to eliminate stick drift (my #1 enemy as someone that tries to make a controller last several years). The difference is night and day. Not only was this controller nearly $40 cheaper when factoring in the wireless adapter, but it also performed far better, and switching modes between console, PC, and mobile on this controller is so so sooooo convenient and consistent by comparison.
If this controller lasts 2 years or more, it will be my favourite controller on the market.
