Had to wash them in a lingerie bag (PIN THE CORDING otherwise you’ll have to rethread like I did) because the birds weren’t coming, but after washing and refilling with thistle the birds are enjoying it!! While I was using a tube-type finch feeder, I would get a couple of finches maybe once or twice a day. I filled one of these socks with "Kaytee Nyjer Wild Bird Food Seed" and have had finches on it all day long. Can be tricky to fill… But the finches really do seem to prefer the socks to a metal mesh nyjer feeder.
I have to put the sock into a support cup and use my canning funnel to fill these. I wish that pet was simpler and less messy.
