I’ve done a lot of nature and wildlife photography but lately I’ve been wanting to do more portraits. I don’t have room at home for a studio so I’ll mostly be shooting outdoors, which I prefer anyway. I’ve already noticed what a pain it can be to lug lights, stands and modifiers around so a reflector like this will come in handy. I got the 43″ version and it folds up into a case that is only 16″ across. I like that this provides an inner stiff diffuser and then lets me choose from white, silver, gold or black to mould the light. I don’t have enough experience to speak to how it handles the color balance of each, but hopefully that will come over time. Overall I’m pleased with this product and I can recommend it to you.

The edges are very tough and stable so it’s easy to hold in the wind, especially with the 2 handles. For me I had to figure out how to close it up once it was open. It’s like closing those car windshield things, but stiffer. Seems like a hearty build quality

It’s 5 in 1…if you count black as a reflector…let’s call it 4 in 1…with some shade (it’s still useful).

I like the design of it, once you get the hang of scrunch folding the reflectors to put away after usage. The vinyl containment bag is strong enough and the zipper appears up to the task for a long time.

I ordered the 32″ as opposed to the much larger 43″…only because I don’t push enough light to warrant the big boy size. I also use these outdoors, and the larger one is a bit more problematic with breezes and such. 32″ just works for me.

It’s a well designed simple device that can really change your images. In this post processing world, almost everything can be replicated…but these are still better than post processing afterwards.

The rule for my photography has been…if I can add to my image with hardware as opposed to post processing afterwards with software…I will use hardware and nip it in the bud.

For the price…it’s a very good order. K&F Concept is a capable company making accessories for photography and videography…this is no exception.

Great piece of kit…big thumbs up!!

I previously had a white light reflector that my mother gave me. It’s about 36 inches, but folds up into a relatively tiny 5 inch bag, which was great, but it is difficult to fold up. I didn’t think think these would be so large when folded (approx 15 inches), but the quality is so much better that I’m still very happy!

This set is basically one ring with a standard white reflector built in. The ring unfolds super easy and has two nice, sturdy handles on opposite sides. I really like the handle design as it’s very comfortable to hold on to. If you want a different color, there is a reversable sleeve that slides over the white disc. The sleeve has two holes that you can position over the handles and is held in place by a zipper that goes pretty much all the way around the sleeve. The sleeve has the black, silver, gold, and pearl white colors, and if you’re going to switch between colors, be prepared for a minute of work to get it positioned correctly.

Once you have the sleeve on the ring (if you don’t want simple white), this is super easy to use. You simply hold it near your subject, off camera of course, and enjoy having full control of the light.

When you’re done, the ring folds up very easily. You simply twist the two handles in opposite direction and push them towards each other, which causes the ring to fold up. This ring folds so much easier than my old one! The carrying bag this comes with is simple, but nice. It easily fits the ring and folded sleeve inside of it.

If you’re in need of a light reflector for photos or videos, this is an excellent choice!

The idea of twisting the frame of reflectors isn’t a new one but I still marvel at how something so big manages to fit into such a small carrying case. What is even better here is that the case also holds a reversible cover that zips around the frame to offer more lighting possibilities.

The bare reflector is actually a white diffuser, and the cover is black on one side, silver on the other but if you turn it inside-out, you also have a gold and white reflector. Brilliant!

The reflector is well-made and rigid when deployed. There’s a fair bit of tension in the frame and it’s about 1cm wide which means you can get a good grip on it. The covers have a reversible zip running around them and it runs smoothly without any snags making it quick and easy to change over.

The fun comes when it’s time to pack it away again as there’s a knack to getting it back in its case, one that I haven’t mastered yet, and it takes several attempts to get it right. I just need more practise! Twist and tuck, twist and tuck

Light is critical to photography. From the physics of capturing an image to the rendering of the subject it’s role is composition is critical in so many ways. So being able to manipulate and shape that light is so important to a photographer, and tools like this versatile reflector can make a massive difference to capturing an image.

The reflector comes packed in a compact circular bag. When taking the reflector out it will unfold itself to it’s full 80cm size. This is done via a circular tensioned ring, like you get with pop up tents. To pack it away again it is a case of twisting it to fold it into a smaller diameter circle. This takes a little practice but is actually quite easy once you are used to it. The reflector is made of two parts. An outer cover, which is reversible with white, black, silver and gold panels, and the centre section which is a white translucent diffuser. The overall quality is pretty good. The size is well suited to portrait photography. You may get away with it in a studio environment for full figures but nothing more. My only real criticism is that there are limited ways to mount or support it. A few more eyelets and maybe some Velcro straps would be handy.

A versatile tool that’s perfect for the portrait photographer on the go.

This is a great value large reflector and its very clever that the internals unzip/reverse to provide the five different colour/reflector options.

In its carry bag its only around 30cm across and it is very light weight. I have a couple of reflector umbrellas and while they have their place the small size of this means it fits in my camera bag easily so its not like I’m having to carry extra stuff or pack it especially.

It has took a couple of attempts to fold up each time I’ve gone to put it away but thankfully it does have a little leaflet inside the bag which tells you how to twist it to pack it away. It is dead simple its just one of those things that you can forget or get wrong. – I had a pop up tent once and I still get flashbacks of struggling to pack that away.

But this all works really well, it feels well made and the price it good. Five stars.

The main piece is a diffuser/scrim, which has the hoop. The other modifiers –black, white, silver, and gold–are the surfaces of zip-on attachment. The photos in the description make it look like you’re getting five different pieces. This is not true.

The fit and finish seem to be okay. My worry is that the hoop has a bit of a hard edge, which would make it easier to wear through the fabric holding the scrim on. Would have liked to see some padding or heavier-duty fabric at these wear points. The modifiers come with white and gold on the outside. The silver and black come on the inside, so when you want to use the silver modifier, you have to take the pouch off and turn it inside out. This is a royal pain. I’m probably going to leave the black/silver on the outside. The scrim is probably enough to use as a white reflector. I’ve taken to folding only the scrim to put in the carrying case, folding the modifier pouch separately, and storing that in the case.

I like the idea, but the implementation is lacking IMHO.

The K&F Concept 5-in-1 Reflector is a cleverly designed and multipurpose accessory that is lightweight, convenient and portable. Reflectors are a fundamental tool in the image maker’s kit. In this case, you have five, but carry one.

When I first saw it, I wondered how K&F Concept was going to supply five separate, unique reflectors; a diffuser and four colored ones. So, what’s the trick?

As I already mentioned, its cleverly done. The collapsable, folding inner frame is the diffuser. Zipped around it is an opaque, reversible cover, the four surfaces of which make up the silver, gold, white and black reflectors. I understand that black is not meant to be reflective, but in this case, it has enough sheen that it’s not going to photograph pure black. If pure black is desired, then cut out a piece of black velvet that can be clipped onto the frame of the K&F Reflector. Otherwise, the black surface can be used, for example, placed over the subject while blocking the sun, putting the subject in shadow and giving a rim highlight to the hair with a blown-out background. Like on a beach.

The framed diffusion is useful outdoors between subject and sun, and in the studio, as a main light source with artificial lighting coming through it. The reflective surfaces are, of course, useful in any environment for controlling and projecting light, whether natural or artificial. And the black surface is useful for subtracting light, creating more contour or more dramatic shadow on a subject. Applications for the K&F Concept 5-in-1 Reflector are limitless.

The photographer/videographer’s medium is light, and controlling light to whatever extent is possible in a given environment is an essential skill for professional results. The K&F Concept 5-in-1 reflector is not only portable, lightweight and durable, but provides a convenient means of manipulating whatever light source is in use, outdoors or indoors, and will enhance any photographer’s kit. The reflector is supplied with a handy, zippered storage/carrying case.

Convenient and Portable; Have the use of Five Reflectors but Carry Only One.

All of the reflection options are within the same circular reflector and this is protected by a carry case. The instructions were needed to collapse the item back down but I can see this becoming easier with practice. Overall, a useful item for the photographer in a portable package.

Photography is the art of capturing light and sometimes the scene’s lighting isn’t what you want: too dim or too harsh or…

Flashlights can be very harsh, even when reflected off the ceiling. This enables you to reflect natural light onto your subject, or make the sunlight from a window etc more diffuse. Detachable covers enable you to add a golden yellow tint to the light, have a shinier but – because it’s not entirely flat – textured reflection, or use it to block light instead.

I am amused at the instruction manual which only tells you how to get the opened reflector back in its bag: it’s the classic ‘twist into a figure eight, then compress into three circular layers’ method for things like this and folding flying disks and hair catchers and…

You’ll get it wrong the first few times, but it becomes very easy with practice.

Of course, you already new that if you are considering them so, in a nutshell.

I have yet to be disappointed with K&F Concept, I have a range of there items and they always meet expectations, this is no exception.
Whilst small when folded -see photo for comparison- the reflector opens up not 80cm which I think is the sweet spot when shooting out and about, large enough to be of use whilst not too big as to be cumbersome. (Unless it is windy)
Whilst this is a single panel it utilises a zipper around the edge to allow it to be used to createv5 different light effects covering pretty much every use case you may require.

And of course it is just as useful in the studio as out!

Folding is a relatively simple matter of twisting and forming a circle then placing back in the bag, if it is your first time it may be a little frustrating but you soon get the hang of it, if you have a drone landing mat you will feel immediately at home 😉

    A definite recommend.
