After a couple of months of toing and froing I finally bit the bullet and bought this yoga mat. What took so long to make up my mind was the cost. In the end I remembered that saying ‘you get what you pay for’.
Positives
It arrived a day earlier than it was due.
There was no extra packaging, just the liforme box.
The bag for the yoga mat makes it so easy to carry and the strap around the shoulder is well padded so does not dig into your neck.
The colour is exactly as expected.
It is a perfect size mat.
It does not move around on slippery floor.
My feet and hands do not slip whilst I have been doing a yoga session. This means I only look an idiot doing downward dog due to my lack or ability rather than my feet and hands sliding around.
The markings on the mat help to make it easier to have the correct positions for your hands and fee.
It’s easy to roll and up put back in the bag.
Now for the negatives
I will be doing yoga more as I am so happy with the yoga mat. This could actually be classed as a positive in my husbands eyes.
If I could give more stars I would.
I’ve had many yoga mats before and never this expensive but this one is so far the best I’ve had. I do a lot of hot yoga where you sweat like a piggy but this mat is fantastic, no slipping which is exactly what I was looking for. I would highly recommend it to all yogis
By far the best yoga mat 11/10
I decided after going through and putting up with several mats over the years to splash out and treat myself to, what I thought at the time, was an overpriced thing. 90 ouch. However it was worth it. There is literally nothing wrong with product. Super grippy, I tested it doing some flows in socks, and it gripped. Even after getting super sweaty the grip was perfect. No more worries about pulling a hip flexer or hamstring during a challenging pose. I was also a little concerned over it having that rubber smell but nope nothing! Being quite tall about 190cm I have always had trouble with mat length but this mat is fine on edge but fine. Finally the markings really do help as they alow you to reset after a flow quickly and confidently. To conclude I strongly recommend this to all yoga practitioners, new and experienced it’s simply to the best and you can forget all the res
Worth the hype!
Bought this based on feedback from my yoga instructor and fellow yogis, and I’m glad I did! Pricey, but worth it for helping me focus and maintain correct posture throughout my practice by using the lines to position my feet & body correctly! Very helpful! I use it for yoga & pilates. It’s absolutely non slippery unlike some others! I like the length & width. However, in terms of comfort especially for my knees, I use a knee pad as well, so I would advise getting one if you struggle with your knees and elbow! Overall though, well worth the price in the long term!
Fantastic grip
I have two Liforme yoga mats – one I keep at home and the other I use at the gym for Yoga and Pilates.
The mat is quite heavy to carry to and from the gym but the quality, grip and alignment guides are worth it!
I did contemplate buying a Travel Yoga Mat for the gym but it is thinner than the Yoga Mat.
Very high quality
Having recently started doing yoga again. I had been using my old mat and I started to notice it coming apart and showing real wear. It was also moving about a lot when transitioning different positions during my sessions. I decided to for this mat as a replacement and I am delighted I did I know it’s more expensive than a lot of other mats but it is high quality and it does not move on the ground or stretch. Highly recommend this product.
Liforme Original Yoga Ma
I have been practicing Yoga for about 10 years now and had owned 6 mats before I finally bought this one. This isn’t the cheapest but by far the best mat. The price was the reason why I hesitated purchasing but this mat will get you to the next level of your practice and I only wish I bought this earlier! I love that this mat is fully biodegradable, the design is not just pretty but it also helps you with alignment. The mat provides plenty of grip so you don’t need to worry about your hands and feet slipping at downward facing dog! Buy this, and you won’t regret it!
Great item
This is my first yoga mat, purchased to provide stability for yoga done on my lounge carpet whilst in lockdown. The mat doesn’t slip on the carpet and provides a good, stable base. However, I do find it a bit slippy under my hands when in downward dog – I can feel my hands sliding out slightly and have to keep making micro-adjustments. That being said, with a bit of sticky hand cream on my hands to provide some grip, that issue is resolved. Its a good thickness which is supportive and it cleans up beautifully. The bag it came in appears sturdy, no busted seams yet and so I recommend this, I think its worth the money.
Sticks nicely to the floor, comfortable in poses & relaxation, helpful posing guides.
A surprise present bought for me & arrived on time & well packaged. Unwrapped & found it in a well made carrying hold-all with padded shoulder strap, it is slightly heavier than most. Once unrolled onto floor there was a slight aroma of rubber but didn’t deflect from using the mat & disappeared after a few uses. The thickness is very comfortable & supportive in comparison to the much cheaper mats I had been using. Very durable design & can see it lasting many years. No slipping in poses, no staining- so far- I do wipe down with a dampened cloth. It’s great for working on wood/tiling floors as there’s no moving -sticks well. On carpet it tends to creep & ruche a little but I put that down to the nap of the carpet. I’m still trying to get to grips with the positioning guidelines as I’m not so tall 5’4″. Good length & width but would’ve preferred it slightly wider. Overall I love using it for my yoga practice, a little expensive(I’ve just discovered) but you pay for what you get as I’ve found out & would recommend for the avid yogi.
Superb grip
Very grippy which is just what I wanted as it makes standing poses feel so much more secure. A bit thinner than I am used and it is heavier to carry (in its case with shoulder strap) to but neither is a problem. The lines are interesting – be good to know more about how their shape and position was determined – so far I have found the centre line especially helpful. Seems expensive for a yoga mat but it is the best one I have had by a long way so I do not regret spending the extra/difference on it. Hope it lasts a good long time.
Just got back into yoga after quite some time off, so going back to basics and decided to invest in a decent yoga mat, to get me going. The Liforme mat was recommended by a good friend, who is also a yoga teacher.
I absolutely love it, it is heavier than I thought, but thats no issue, actually it helps as it doesn’t move.. Its a great thickness, not too thick so its spongy, just protective and comfy on the knees and wrists.
The alignment aids have been a god send, especially as I do not have use of a mirror, so its great to be able to look down and ensure i am in the correct position, and giving me confidence in the direction of my feet.
It has really truely helped me get back into yoga, especially now its lockdown, keep looking forward to my next (Ekhart) yoga video. Maybe I am just trying to get value out of my new mat, but I don’t think so. I got the grey one, which I am so happy about as my dogs keep trying to plonk them selves on it too.
It is a fair bit of money, but I think its worth it… I have had it about two weeks, have used it more than once a day most days already and just starting to feel fab, looking forward to more strength and flexibility… using my wonderful mat. Definitely recommend it.
I just love it !!!!
I love this mat, I was a tad apprehensive about buying it due to the price , but the alignment likes just help me so much , stops me doubting that I have the right positioning , I’m only a beginner and this mat has encouraged me to practice more at home and has made my practice more fulfilling. Easy to store away thanks to the carry bag , and the extra size means I stay on the mat , well bar when I end up falling due to my lack of experience !
I tore a shoulder ligament recently during Lockdown when my flimsy home mat slipped during a transition and I landed awkwardly. This meant no yoga or anything much for 4 weeks and still twinging – NOT GOOD. That decided me – invest in a good mat. This mat has restored my confidence and then some, plus it’s so much more comfortable – kneeling poses now don’t come with a wince! I didn’t think I’d make use of the alignment markers, being a fairly seasoned practitioner, but actually I do find myself re-aligning. They are useful, for sure. I haven’t commented on the mat’s durability as I haven’t had it long enough but I suspect, with the right care, it should hold together well.
It's a rubber ma
I have used my mat every other day for over a year now and think that it is the best yoga mat which I’ve had. I like that there are alignment markings which have helped with my posture in stance with excellent grippy surface. The one fallback was that it was expensive but over all with the longevity of use, it has been worth it. Some of the other reviews have mentioned the smell – yes there is a slight odour when new, however this dissipated pretty soon after I started using it.
Best Brand Mat ... EVER
One year on, and I still am on my mat. Some of my yoga colleagues have tried out a couple of down dogs on my mat in the last year, and they suddenly all have this mat too … albeit in different colours. The mat is wide enough for comfort, and secretly I love that couple of extra cm’s of extra space in a tightly packed class. It is a nice thickness for comfort during shivasana, but not so thick that it affects your capacity for balance during standing / balancing sequences. No slipping on this mat, it’s so grippy that I actually burned my toe by dragging myself / rather than ‘gliding’ from one posture into another… (only happened once, I wasnt used to HOW grippy the mat is). I love this mat.
I have had the mat for over 2 months, so I feel I can give a good overview of it.
Good points.
1.Best grip I’ve ever had on a mat. I’ve compared the grippyness to my fellow yoga friends mats and it definitely has the best grip.
2. Comfortable to lye on. Even though it’s 4 mm thick. Because it’s compressed. It offers better support for knees, back and ankles.
3. The lines on the mat are very helpful when aligning oneself in yoga warrior.
4. The carry bag is strong and durable.
The slight niggles/what could be improved.
1. The colour green, although my favourite colour. Shows sweat marks very obviously.
It’s a shame the mat wasn’t a dark green, to make it less obvious. Reflecting back, I wish I bought a mat in a darker colour.
2. The mat is much heavier, than I realized. I only mention it, if you need to carry it from home etc. But just taking it out and into the car, doesn’t cause a problem.
Overall I am very glad I purchased the mat. I don’t have to worry about slipping in downward dog ever again.
As a 27 year old man I was always dismissive of yoga, viewing it as an excuse for women to wear activewear in any and all everyday scenarios without the need to change.
This all changed after injuries forced me to access my body which led me to conclude I had the flexibility of a half-jointed scarecrow and was advised to give yoga a crack. Luckily I was eased into my first session through a lunch time class my work holds on a Thursday where the skill range wasn’t that high so they were patient in fixing any issues in form and I bloody loved it.
It both challenged and relaxed me in a variety of ways and I discovered my stereotypical masculine view of ‘strength’ was no good here rendering me as helpless as a new born giraffe trying to find its feet for the first time. As the days passed and collected more classes under my belt my flexibility has improved, strength increased, and ability to do poses that I initially wouldn’t have wished on my worst enemy are finally within my grasp… but…
In mildly warm rooms or a moderately fast flow class I release enough sweat to become a human humidifier. I’m talking gallons of the stuff, from fingertip to tip toe, blinding me, dripping from my nose, painting a mural of myself on the mat so future generations will know I was there – a modern day monument for all my sins and stretch sinews.
Now, having decided to invest in my first yoga mat so I could practice at home in my spare time, and having experienced many a time my hands slide forward at the pace of a tectonic plate during downward dog, I knew I had to invest in a mat that would limit this or risk an inevitable face-to-floor collision. Ladies and Gentlemen – let me introduce you to the mat my girlfriend introduced me to that I’m now taking to credit for:
Liforme.
It’s been excellent so far – nice design, good grip, reasonably padded etc. The fact it comes with a bag is undeniably helpful because it is (surprisingly) heavy. I’m a stickler for detail and getting my alignment juuuuust right so having the markings really help save me time when my anal tendencies do take over.
Chuck into the mix that it’s eco friendly and I basically threw my money at them.
I know it is expensive but I’m an all or nothing kinda guy and understand the value of buying something that’ll last both in terms of it’s performance and keeping it’s ‘colour’ after drying out. Plus having used a foam type mat at work for a year I can see how quickly the grip has warn AND padding has diminished after just one use a week to an extend that when on my knees I feel like I’m back in primary school praying to the lord Jesus Chris on the wooden bench begging him to tell the priest to finish so I can make sure my knee caps haven’t fallen off (and so I could blast out a rendition of shine Jesus shine sharpish!).
Over all a perfect product. Nice one Liforme.
P.S. You will need a yoga mat towel for Hot Yoga to avoid slipping, no man made yoga mat alone could save you in a Hot Yoga class
P.S.S. If I did have a complaint it is that it is TOO grippy and it picks up dirt from my laminated floor that I hovered and mopped two hours before reminding me of my failures as a domestic goddess.
I hope this helps 🙂
You will not regret this purchase - scouts honour !
My yoga experience has transformed whilst using this mat! As ridiculous as that statement seems, I never realised how much I jiggled in downdog because of a bumpy mat. This mat just stays! Alignment markers didn’t factor into my purchase, I would not be without them now – love the help they give me in, well….. most postures actually. It’s thin, but comfy and really durable and durable is the carry bag too, with a meaty zip and shoulder pad. It’s eco friendly so another tick. My only observation ( criticism) is that a dark colour is preferable for me because it can mark, from sweat, makeup etc. I treated my self to this mat and it continues to treat me every practise! Thank you Liforme.
I hardly ever leave feedback on here but this deserves it. I wasn’t sure wether to spend this amount of money of yoga mat but I’m so glad I did! This mat is the absolute one!
My hands sweat loads during practise and I’m usually slipping about all over the place but not anymore! The grip is incredible.
The size is perfect for me (I’m 5″7) and the lines on the mat, which I thought I wouldn’t use, are actually really helpful.
It’s a good amount of cushioning without being too thick and it’s not too heavy to carry in the very handy bag it comes with. It also has good grip on the back so I can practise on carpet.
The colour is just gorgeous (I got it in pink!) I absolutely love this Mat!
If you are still contemplating and pouring over reviews comparing mats… just get this one you will not be disappointed!
I found myself constantly buying new yoga mats, because they just weren’t up to the job. Too stretchy, too slippy, too thick, too thin, just poor quality. Liforme mats are the best, they are made of natural rubber with no strong chemical odour, (however this does make the regular mat very heavy at 2.5kg), they do make a thinner, lighter travel mat, which is a great alternative if you need to carry your mat any distance. The mats have guide lines that make it easy to get correct asana alignment. The mat grip is fantastic and it absorbs moisture, so no sweaty slips. The regular mat is 4.2mm thick, which I find perfect for comfort and balance. If your a serious Yogi, don’t be put off by the price. When I think about all the money I wasted on cheap mats, I could have bought one of these in the first place. Namaste X
Perfect control of the Downward Dog!
I was persuaded to spend this much money on a yoga mat after I bought a cheaper one and struggled to control my downward dog! I read many reviews and spoke to my yoga teacher who reassured me that it was not my posture or lack of it that caused my hands to slip but the nature of my previous mat. My Liforme mat arrived promptly and everything about the mat, carry bag and packaging indicated quality. However far more importantly I now love my downward dogs and can relax into poses knowing that no matter how sweaty my hands, they will not slip. The alignment guides are brilliant too! It is heavy to carry to classes, but not so much so I will be buying the travel version just yet!!!! I will need to save up first.
I found this product when I was searching for a new mat. Initially the price made me gulp but, having carried out more research including reading previous customer reviews I took the plunge and I am so glad that I did! The quality is excellent! I’ve ready reviews from people who sad it was difficult to get it back into the bag or that the bag itself wasn’t very good. My experience is totally different. I had no trouble getting it into the bag, nor with the quality of the bag – which has a padded area near the top to make carrying comfortable. The mat is of a good thickness and the alignment guide is very helpful. The grip is good too. I would highly recommend.
I have struggled with slippery yoga mats in the past when practicing Ashtanga or Dynamic Yoga despite investing in well known brands. I researched it long and hard due to the price point, but finally took the plunge and can confirm that this mat is super grippy. I can now concentrate on the pose rather than ensuring I don’t slip and injure myself or inadvertently end up doing the splits! ( which I can’t btw! ) That is why I have no qualms leaving a 5 star review.
The main con for me – which may not affect other people – is how incredibly heavy I find it in comparison to my old mat. I used to carry my old mat walking to/from work and to the gym, but the first time I did that I found it impossible for me ( walking 20+ min ) So I had to rent a large locker at the gym in the end.
I bought this mat as I was fed up of slipping around dangerously on my previous mat. I have had a variety of different mats over the last ten years but decided it was time to bite the bullet and get a decent, if more pricey one. So far I’ve only used it once, in an unheated class, but it was a huge improvement and am waiting to see how it performs in a Hot Yoga session. This is the mat used by loads of my contemporaries , who can’t be wrong!
I’m really looking forward to my Hot Yoga class tomorrow.
This is an excellent mat!! I really researched to the net and made a design and I am truly glad I did.Great grip.Sweat absorbing . No smell. I have a knee problem. So far I needed to use two mats. I sweat quite profusely. That was another problem. With this mat, all of that is resolved and bet of all I am able to align my body better. I have been practising yoga for about 5 years now. Started with a Reebok mat and moved to Lulu Lemon travel. Nothing compares to this one! I have given it 4 stars. Reason: I live in India. This was obviously to be imported to India. The price at check out clearly said ” inclusive of all taxes and charges ” or something like that. Perhaps I missed the fine print?? I do not think so, but not sure. I got charged duty on this mat equivalent to the entire cost of the mat!!! That then made it an incredibly expensive mat!!! I did not see an option but to pay, since the customs would have retained it. It is my sincere request that the sellers make sure of the duties involved and print them in BOLD. The whole idea of buying from Amazon was the transparency and ease of course. Anyway. Very glad I have it. It has of course curtailed my spending for while. 🙂
I bought this mat as I liked the idea of the alignment lines and the fact the Manduka mats are known to be slippery (we have one and it is). However, on receiving the mat, I found it a little short for my own use (being spoilt by the Manduka XL) even though it’s slightly longer than most normal mats (I’m 5ft 8″). I also personally found it a little thin as I’m using it on a solid floor and the firmness was ok but personally I’d prefer a little more padding. This is probably as I haven’t been doing yoga long so am not fully conditioned, proper yogis will most likely find the length and thickness fine and wonder what I’m talking about.
The Liforme is very positive which is excellent, you’re not going to be slipping anywhere. The included carry case is great to have and very convenient plus no hunting for a bag/strap separately.
I have a little bit of history with Liforme that I won’t go into much detail but I had given a one-star review, they’ve since sorted out the issues that caused the initial review (they’re new to Amazon and weren’t getting my returns/dispute emails).
As I felt the mat wasn’t suitable for me personally, I attempted to return it. Liforme stated I would need to pay a restocking fee (20) and postage (4.95) which is not stated on their returns on Amazon.
Anyway, after the glitch in the system was sorted they accepted my return and waived the return fee and postage as an apology. I’d make 100% sure this is the mat for you before purchase as otherwise it’s going to be costly for you to return (24.95).
I’ve ended up with the Manduka XL, for me it’s a slightly better choice. I do miss the grip of the Liforme but enjoy the extra padding and length of the Manduka XL, that’s a very personal choice though and the weight/size and slip of the Manduka are all clear negatives. There will be plenty of Yogis who would much prefer the Liforme for their practice and rightly so, it’s a great mat and better in key areas.
If Liforme brought out a longer more padded mat, theirs would be the clear winner for me without question.
