    Works fine
Works good for gaming – average 100 fps on cpu based games and the fan does get a bit loud when playing intense games but other than that its super quiet and the cpu temperature stays at 50-52 degrees celsius. I haven’t had any problems so fa

    Awesome mini PC
Setup took no more than 30 minutes. Windows updates were installed very quickly. This mini PC is super fast and very quiet.

Using WiFi at over 200mbps with no issues and machine is actually on a different floor to the WiFi router. Using Logitech MX Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with no issues.

Machine is running with nice temps and seems very stable. Couldn’t be happier so far.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVideo editing
Bought mainly for video editing/color grading with DaVinci Resolve. Having a decent GPU it works well with my 3 screen setup and renders much quicker than my old computer which had on-chip GPU. Sits on my desk and is really quiet, only slight increase in fan noise when the GPU is working flat out.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe NUC beate
Had this a week or so and have been really impressed by how much better it is than my previous NUC 12 enthusiast edition. I had nothing but issues with drivers and cpu throttling with the NUC. It was fast but noisy and ran hot. The minisforum in comparison runs very quietly, is just as quick and so far has worked flawlessly. I simply transfered my old ssd into this and it has worked. The only think I needed to upgrade was the ram which is DDR5. It runs Ableton Live perfectly and even handles some gaming with aplomb.

Highly recommend and definitely a NUC beater.

Good value for money - mostly perfect - but ...
So, I awas very pleasently surprised by it’s performance. Is quiet, fast, plenty of ram and smooth! Very smakk box, smaller than I anticipated.

But… the biggest downside is my monitos, refresh only at 50Hz – on 4K. (previously on my Gefore 1080Ti 100Hz 2 monitors @ 4K. Updated drivers and cables… can only get it at 60Hz on 1080p :/ Which is a big, big bummer. For me as I am staring at the screens for 10+ hours a day… now get fatigued much sooner :/ very noticable the difference. Would gladly sacrifice some more money and a bigger box for a dedicated card that would support 100hz refresh… Hopefully can find an enclosure and repurpose my graphic card and use it as external one

The other thing I noticed… the blootuth is not the best quality nor range… visibly deteriorated the listening on my sony headphones over 4m (and a wall)… on the other one or on a laptop I have no issues with 7+m and couple of walls.

    High performance and quie
The performance of these Ryzen chips is very good. There is nothing in day to day use which would indicate that this is a ‘laptop part’.
The UM790 is surprisingly quiet, coming from an Asus PN50, the latter is much louder. So very happy with acoustics.
I don’t game with this PC, so can’t comment on the performance there.
As many have complained about, the rubber feet which cover the screw holes are stuck on and removing them kills the sticky tape, so they don’t really stay attached anymore. Minor, but bad design.
The PSU seems to be a new model, it is much more compact that the unit which reviewers have previously displayed.
Couldn’t find a way to upload a certificate to the bios, so booting some Linux/grub OS iso requires switching off secure boot, then switching it back on after OS install.
Overall pleased and would recommend. Watch out for occasional discount coupons.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersQuiet Mini PC
A great deal of research went into the purchase of the UM790 Pro. A friend bought a 32gb RAM one at the beginning of December. I went for the 64gb RAM version (it was the only one in Amazon stock). I edit photographs and create videos, so I was hoping the increase in RAM would ensure the onboard video element would have enough. The unit is very small and keeps surprisingly cool. I haven’t heard a fan yet. It worked straight out of the box and in the two weeks I’ve had it I’ve transferred key files from my old tower PC, installed Office 365, games and photo/video software. The more you use the PC the quicker it boots. The service centre responded to a query form within 24 hours. Great service. My friend’s unit shipped with Windows 11 Pro, but I’m advised that they are now shipped with Windows 11 Home. As far as I can make out, that means you don’t get Bitlocker without upgrading to Windows 11 Pro. You decide whether you need it or not. I’m yet to be convinced. Value for money wise, I couldn’t update my tower PC to a similar spec for anywhere near the cost of this unit, and it is cheaper than its mini PC rivals.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersGreat value MiniPC with very good performance, however...
After reading many reviews, and watching the infamous youtuber ETAPrime’s video review, I decided to purchase this system for both my everyday needs and for retro emulation.

As MinisForum has been making MiniPCs for a long time now and has a good reputation overall, I thought this was the best option and fairly good value for money.

I was not dissapointed with the packaging, the presentation or the system itself, all appeared well designed and well built.

It is without question a powerful system and should suit most peoples needs. It is NOT a AAA gaming machine, although it will perform well on most games upto 1080p with medium settings, and occassionally with FSR turned on to balanced where needed to achieve a minimum 60fps.

I also tried out some video encoding using handbrake, to see what it could do, and again I was very impressed with the speed.

However… there are a couple of issues with my system at least, and I think most people will suffer from this as it is a design flaw. If you need to use WiFi, and bluetooth, like many do these days, the performance is very poor, due to MinisForum for some unknown reason, deciding to place the WiFi and Bluetooth chipset and antenna under the bottom of the unit which then also suffers from interference from the NVMe drive near it.

This was very annoying, and it took a long time for me to discover this was the cause after much searching and messing with drivers.

The good news is, I fixed it by purchasing a USB plugin WiFi chipset with builtin antenna, a TP-Link AC1300 for onlu 14 from amazon, and I now max out my router bandwidth at the other end of my house.

Finally, on my system, the graphical BIOS which this MiniPC uses, has an issue which causes flickering, but it only happens if or when I need to go into the BIOS settings at boot, so it is not really a deal breaker again, just annoying.

And I would just mention one last point, it appears we are currently stuck with Chinese manufacturers for MiniPCs right now, so the customer service and aftercare is practically none exixtant, so please keep that in mind when buying… and NEVER buy a MoreFine MiniPC as they sell you over priced units with Engineering Sample CPUs, as I found out to my own expense when supporting an IndieGoGo campaign just over a year ago now.

Overall you will not be dissapointed if you keep in mind the above comments and my own experience.

    Quiet and pretty powerful
I ordered the HX77G as a replacement for my previous mini-PC that had started to get on my nerves. The old PC would, even just sitting on the Windows desktop, kick up the fans and due to it’s smaller size (about half the HX77G) the fan noise was quite high pitched. I found the HX77G via internet searches and it was said to be pretty quiet.

And that it certainly is. Sitting on the desktop, or even running a benchmark app like Cinebench, the machine is quiet from where I’m sitting (~1.5m from the computer). If I go up to it, I can hear the fans, but even then the noise is a dull, very low frequency hum that easily gets lost in the ambient noice of the environment. Even during some light gaming (Airport CEO, Dyson Sphere Program, Timberborn) the fans stayed very quiet and only came on loudly (you can adjust the temperature when they kick in 100% in the BIOS) at the most hectic times.

Very happy with this machine, I think it will serve me quietly for years to come and spare my nerves.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIncredible value for money
I was very sceptical when I bought this. A bit of me expected I’d have to send it back, but it is really, really good.

I have had it for a week now and set up was easy and mine came with Windows pre-installed. Performance is exceptionally good. I pulled some video work off my old laptop (i7 16GB) for a test, and a video that took 50 minutes to render on the old machine was done in 10 on this one. Playback whilst editing in DaVinci Resolve is smooth.

It is tiny, smaller than my wifi router, and pretty much silent. It is running 2 x 27″ monitors through the front USB Type C.

I did put a couple of older games on here , though mostly older stuff as I have a console for modern games, but GTA IV, Manhunt and Bioshock remastered all perform brilliantly. I only scored 3 as GTA IVs frame rate wasn’t great, so I imagine newer AAA games would struggle.

All in all, I’m very happy and would highly recommend this.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersReally pleased!!!
Well I bought a minisforum a bit more like a year ago and I was pleased with the quality so decided to pass that one to my parent and a get a new one for my wife for her work. But I couldnt stay still and give a shot myself and I’m surprise how much it has improve in just one year minisforum in only on year! Windows 11 setup was super simple, and I wanted to use it myself for a while as my main work PC. It managed my office work very well, having many app and tabs open and all good. I’m not a designer but I need to open photoshop and illustrator time to time and it was very smooth so I was pleased. At first I thought the fan wasnt working but then discover that it’s incredibly quiet! Very light, and similar size than an Alexa Echo, the big one. I had many calls and video calls using Teams and it works as expected, people mentioned sound was very clear so that’s good, and I’m not sure if it does have noise cancellation but it filtered background music it was on the room. The camera was good. I wanted to give it a go with games and tried with some old ones like Skyrim and it managed it good enough on ultra high graphics, so that was a surprise! So I thought it would be useful to take a benchmark so even when it does give a low rate for games it did well for that one, probably newer games won’t work and lets be honest, it doesn’t even have a graphics card on so it’s good but even tho, it wasn’t built for gaming purposes. How it said on description that it was good enough for conference on a meeting room with people, I took it to my living room and stick it to the TV and the call was good. Had a video call with family and friend, and at one time the room was with 5 people and the video call going with 2 persons and they were listing us properly and we didnt actually need to shout or things like that, so definitely a great option for use it on a meeting room. After a couple of weeks using it I now passed it to my wife (finally) and she is love it so it’s a winner! 100% recommended!

The PC itself certainly does the job and does it quite well. For it’s size it is quick. Best of all, it will happily idle at 18 watts so I feel happy knowing I’m saving polar bears while I work.
The inclusion of windows 11 is a bit of a let down (because I can’t stand windows 11) it might have been better to include windows 10 as you have the option to upgrade for free if you really really want it.
I have had a few software crashes in things like development software and virtual box that don’t bode particularly well, but with PC’s you can never quite be sure where things are messing up. For all I know this is just a windows 11 thing. Unless I see a smoking gun I’m not going to point fingers at the hardware.

I did try to get support from minis forum regarding memory upgrades. I was VERY disappointed. They respond quickly enough, just don’t expect knowledgeable responses. That said I get very irate with Dell support so this might not mean anything

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersSo good I bought another one!
I thought it was time I replaced two custom built tower PCs. They were so highly specified originally that they still worked fine after 12 years but I thought I should not push my luck. I wnet down the Mini PC route 4 years ago when I bought a little intel i3 KODLIX mini PC for web streaming to a wide screen tv. I don’t play computer games but I do a lot of cpu-intensive HD and UHD video re-encoding. This highly-specified Ryzen 9 mini PC looked suitable so I cautiously bought one “on-spec” two months ago. Delivery by Amazon was next day, though I am not a Prime member. I found it straightforward to add extra 2.5″ internal SSDs, aided by the helpful video provided by the seller. This quasi paperback-sized Mini PC feels heavy and looks solidly built. The plastic case is clearly strong and unobtrusive; it is quite irrelevant to me how much carbon fibre it actually contains.

The vertically mounted computer is almost silent, except when the fan racks up for cpu-intensive processing, when it throws out a surprising amount of hot air. This indicates that the relatively “state of the art” liquid metal cooling does facilitate excellent heat transfer. Video processing is as fast as one would expect of an 8 core Ryzen 9 chip. The integral graphic processor in the chip works fine with my single 4K monitor and external usb3 blue ray disc drive / recorder. This is a fast machine. What is not fast is the tedious business of reloading software onto windows, a problem of Microsoft not the machine.
Value for money, particularly if you get a good voucher deal, is excellent. I have no experience using the machine for gaming nor have I needed to contact the seller, so I have not rated those items.

Perhaps the best recommendation is that I was sufficiently impressed with the machine that a few weeks later I bought one for my wife. I would have preferred to buy her a more “goof-proof” MiniMac with M1 chip, not that much more expensive. However she is addicted to a particular legacy piece of Microsoft software which, to my surprise, still runs fine on Windows 11.

I rarely write Amazon reviews and it is early days yet, but two happy users of the Minisforum Ryzen 5900HX MiniPC here!
