Handy for a variety of uses
I have a small 7 inch monitor which I use to monitor temps on my PC while gaming and the HDMI port is set back on the rear of the monitor which makes plugging it in and out a bit tedious. I got this adapter so that the female end can protrude from the side of the monitor and make this problem a thing of the past.
The adapter is a decent length and I have ended up using it on my Wall mounted TV instead so that the HDMI ports are a bit more accessible and it actually works really well. The cable feels sturdy and the connections feel firm when plugged in too.
Great for Firestick
I have a Firestick that I regularly take to my caravan when I visit at weekends. It isn’t particularly easy to reach to the back of my TV so I got this to make that stretch a little bit more straightforward.
It plugs in as easily as any other HDMI cable does and the Firestick plugs securely in at the other end.
The Firestick works just as well as it did without the extended so no issues in terms of connectivity or quality. It is a very good and low cost solution to a problem.
Short, but could still be useful
This item is described as an ‘HDMI Extender Cable’, and it’s very short! The one I received, measured only 13cm (end-to-end). So, allowing for the length of the plug (approx. 1cm), it only extends the cable by 12cm. Having said that, it appears to be of decent quality, with gold plated connectors.
I’m thinking, why would you need an extender cable that is so short? The only application I can think of, is for a wall mounted TV, where the HDMI sockets can be difficult to reach. Leaving this extender cable in situ (permanently plugged in to a spare HDMI socket), could make it more accessible and therefore easier to connect a laptop etc. However, I think one that is twice this length would be more useful.
A convenient size Worked fine when used with 2K HDMI
Pipestation HDMI Extender Cable 14cm – HDMI Extension cable 4k 1080p- Extend HDMI Ports
I often use short extension cables for a variety of reasons and 6″ / 15cm is generally the ideal size for me. At 14cm, this extension is slightly shorter but is fine.
The extension cable worked as it should do when I used it on a 2K HDMI output.
Shorter than expected
As can be seen from the attached image, this cable is barely 13cm in length. I got it with the intention of extending from a socker on the back of a TV which is in an awkward position. The TV is only 27″ in diagonal, and this cable does not extend below the bottom of the frame.
The cable is quite stiff, so it will not fit within the cable management of the TV.
Ultimately it does do the job of extending a socket, and as far as I can tell the image quality is not degraded.
HDMI 2.0 Cable: Perfect Setup Solutio
This HDMI cable is HDMI 2.0, though my Chromecast with Google TV 4K supports HDMI 2.1. However, given my age and vision, and the fact that I don’t play video games, HDMI 2.0 suits me fine (and the family didn’t have a say). The Chromecast plugs into my AV Receiver, housed in a ventilated cabinet. The short, flat, floppy cable it comes with placed it awkwardly. Despite its brevity, it’s just right for me. It positions the Chromecast between the top shelf, where the AV Receiver sits, and the next shelf, home to various other components. The length is perfect for the USB-C hub I use to connect my webcam, memory stick, keyboard dongle, and Ethernet cable to the Chromecast. Everything sits neatly on the second shelf, with wires in a tidy row. Without this extension, the USB hub dangled below the Chromecast, with wires jutting out at odd angles. It’s been working flawlessly for three weeks now, used for streaming movies four times a week.
Perfect accessory
This little extension cable is ideal, long enough to work well, but not so long that there is excess cable making the place look untidy. Sound and picture quality are unaffected, so this represents great value for money. Highly recommended.
Pipestation HDMI Extende
This product was sent to me to review, as part of Amazon Vine. Below is my own real-world experience of using it.
I actually picked it up to help solve a tricky problem – there is an HDMI port on the back of my TV, which is not easily accessible once the TV is wall-mounted. That means it can be a struggle to connect a device to it, without having to take the entire thing off the wall (two other HDMI ports exist, but both are already in use). I was hoping to make the port more accessible, by attaching the extender, due to its design.
The quality is great – it’s a robust piece that also has enough flexibility to fit behind my TV. Having tested the picture quality with my PS5 connected to it, I didn’t notice any degradation or have any signal issues.
Overall, a good value item.
works perfectly as a solution to get HDMI into a tight area so I dont keep undoing it.
Im not sure if there is a specific reason to use this type of cables but it works for me. I have a could of hard to get to connectors without removing some blanking plates on my monitor.
I simply plug this in to the monitor and then my normal HDMI in to this, it means the cabling isnt constantly tugging at the connector and if I want to do some testing I can simply unplug this connector without removing the HDMI to the monitor itself.
At 3.99 its cheap and does this job perfectly.
Shorter than expected but does what it needs to do and cheap
This Pipestation HDMI Extender (3.99 at the time of review) surprised me straight out of the packet – it’s a lot shorter than expected. It’s total length is 13cm (not the claimed 14) – but the main issue is the connectors. Both the male and female ends are a different design to the one shown on the product listing and look a fair bit longer. What this means is that the total length of the flexible part (the ACTUAL cable!) is just under 5cm!
Having said that – this works absolutely perfectly. I did test it out with a 4K/60 signal from my Mac to my TV and it worked without a hiccup. My main use for this is as an extension from my monitor.
Monitors (and most TVs to be honest) always have a habit of putting their ports in difficult places to reach. What this will allow me to do is get easy access to the port for swapping secondary gadgets in and out.
This is the sort of extension that would come in handy if you’ve got devices with HDMI male jacks on the device itself (compute sticks, Amazon Fire Stick etc.) that need a bit more space than your average TV permits.
Slightly disappointed by the length but can’t grumble too much at this price.
Good produc
I use this device to extend an Amazon Fire Stick from the back of one of my TV’s, and it does the job in a straight forward, no fuss way.
Connection seem to be solid with no ‘play’ and with everything I have watched so far there have been absolutely no issues regarding picture or sound quality.
Packaging is minmal which is nice to see as well. This is a good, cheap product that is easy to use and just works very well.
Does it's job
This HDMI extender cable from Pipestation help solve the problem of not being able to attach an HDMI device into a socket where the TV socket points outwards from the TV and not sidways. A Firestick for instance. By attaching this extender it allows the Firestick or whatever to hang down and still be used. When the TV is wall mounted. Always handy to have one of these for those awkward moments. It’ll help get you put of a bind sometimes.
I take mine on holiday as I like to take my Firestick away and this means I can usually connect it to the hotel tv.
Essential for me.
Solid Cable, Good connections, Supported 4K at 60Hz on my monito
I have been a big fan of these mini extenders for a long while (since getting them with smart streaming devices) especially for monitors with recessed ports that are awkward to get to, as by using this you can just plug into the extender rather than the recessed port.
I found the description a little congusing as it states 4K 1080P (and most references state 1080p support) so wasnt sure wherther it would support a 4K resolution or not ( would have used on a 1080p device if noy). However I used on a 4K monitor and it supported 4K at 60Hz. In that configuration I was only using teh HDMI for video. I also used on a Firestick on a 1080p TV where it supported 1080p at 60Hz and the sound was fine. The connections were solid and sturdy, the cable extremely well built and flexible. Looks like it will last. A good price for an extender.
Cheap and cheerful - works with Fire TV Stick
Not the best quality – not as good as the ones that come with Fire TV Sticks – bit does the job.
I got this to replace a misplaced one that came with my Fire TV Stick and it does the job.
I have a 4K Fire TV Stick but not a 4K TV (wanted for the extra speed as the regular Fire TV Sticks are a bit slow), so I can’t confirm whether this extender can handle 4K or not (the description is a bit confused as it mentions 4K in some places but not others).
I can confirm, however, that it does support HDR which is promising.
Handy for streaming sticks
This arrived in minimal packaging (good) and feels solid. the two ends feel strong and offer protection against strain on the connectors.
This is very similar to the short extension cable that you get with a Fire Stick – and I think that is where most people would use it (or with similar devices like the Roku stick). What it does is allow you to have the stick not hanging straight out of the back or side of your TV – potentially stressing the TV’s HDMI port.
In testing the performance was absolutely fine, and it does its job in allowing the stick to be positioned in a way that is kind to the HDMI port.
It is inexpensive (as it should be) and if you need a product like this then this is more than up to the job.
Makes HDMI fit anywhere
My main TV has one of those HDMI ports that has little-to-no space around it in order to fit certain 4K capable HDMI cables. As I often have to connect different cables, I wanted something to make the port more accessible to them.
This does just that, as it quickly and simply brings the port further away from the device, meaning you can then connect whatever HDMI cable you need at the particular time to the screen.
