Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHypnotic, car crash of a blockbuster.
I’m 61, and this is my first time watching this film. I was mesmerised. The whole film is an unrelenting car crash, of emotions. Such powerful performances, the sheer energy involved, is breathtaking.
Definitely an all time greatest film.

One of the greatest acting performances of all time with Robert De Niro excellently portraying real life troubled boxer Jake Lamotta. The film also has stellar performances from the likes of Joe Pesci as well.

    Top film
De Niro is simply awesome in this classic film of the brutality of man.

Scorsese paw prints are all over the film and the cinematography is stunning.

During the boxing matches you feel part of the match, and almost feel the pain of the punches. Outside the matches, you become part of the film and witness the brutality of the man, Jake LaMotta, and perhaps an insight into his mind and the elements that were replicated between the boxing and personal life.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWorth a watch
First of all I think that Martin Scorsese is one of the best directors out there, and this movie clearly shows why. The movie looks great in black and white, you would think that it was made in the 1940’s, the acting by the main cast, as well as the rest of the cast is great and the story is great. Now I don’t know much about the real Jake La Motta or his career, but I would have to say that this movie is really well done. It gives you a realistic account of what being a struggling boxer is like, with all of the weight that you have to gain and lose, all of the stress that is involved in being a boxer and trying to become a champion, and the toll that all of this can have on your mind and body. The only issue that I have with this movie, is that the fights are not that long, all you see on most of the fights is a few shots being thrown and then it is over. Also as much as I think this movie looks great in black and white, I wish that they would have released a colorized version with this blu ray, this is the 21st century after all and I think that it would have made some of the scenes pop a little bit more. All in all I give this movie 8/10.

P.S if you want to see another movie about the life of Jake La Motta, there is another movie called The Bronx Bull, starring William Forsythe.

A Brutal Work of Pure Genius.
This true story is well scripted and magnificently acted by De Niro at his very, very best. Joe Pesci is as good as ever, and I suspect against a weaker player, may even have stolen the film. Powerful and sometimes shocking, this is the US fight game with all of its raw edges on show. The boxing scenes are brutally graphic.

It is just a Masterpiece. The atmosphere, simmering tension and perfection from Martin Scorsese is simply five star. Robert De Niro is in my opinion the best Male actor ever and to gain 60 pounds in weight for Jakes downfall just shows his commitment to his parts.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersEverything You Need to Know about Jake LaMotta.
A lot of people feel this is De Nero’s best film, and though I prefer Taxi Driver, who am I to argue? Most certainly the tale of Jake La Motta, is an action — packed, real life epic. Jake is still going strong at 93!
Raging Bull was not a big box office success; time has been more than kind to the film, now of course it’s regarded as a classic.
De Nero had already won his first Oscar in Godfather 11; this became his second – to date.
The story is very true to LaMotta’s career. He fought Sugar Ray Robinson an incredible six times!
De Nero, with his nose job, actually looks a little like LaMotta. For the latter part of the film, when Jake was fat, De Nero went away for several months of eating, and put on nearly five stones!
Excellent film — I love the De Nero – Joe Pesci combo’s — all great films.
And finally, according to his biographies, LaMotta, was, as the film shows, a brute to his women. He’s been married six times and remains a very popular character in America.

    Classic.
Scorsese,De Niro,Pesci deliver another hard hitting (no pun intended) film about the boxer Jake LaMotta in what is to me De Niro’s finest performance the passion and respect he took to it deserves the respect of anyone who loves films.

    Classic De Niro
Golden oldy, love my boxing and this was one of the films (along with Rocky) that made me fall in love with the sport, a must have in the collection!

    Marvellous !!!
I bought the film primarily to replace the VHS tape I had. This film always remains a firm favourite of mine, a timeless classic. The DVD arrived in good time and was in reasonable condition, slight wear to the outer case which had been stated in the product description. This remains one of my top three De Niro films.

    Classic Film
Excellent film which seems to capture the rise and fall of a man struggling with his own personal demons.
The filming, acting, dialogue and screenplay are brilliant, I would have given this film 5 stars but have only given 4 because of having to play the film at a high volume to hear some of the conversations. The film would then switch from a conversation to a boxing match and the sound would have to be turned down again. Given that this was a new Blu-ray disc and my player is new the fault lies with the sound production I guess.
    Anyway not disappointed, classic film.

    A classic
A classic. Absolutely. The only, only limit of this movies is that Rocky came first, I know it is a different thing but stll, you think about it in some moments during the movie. Robert De Niro si a giant in this movie, and I am not a Robert De Niro fan. To be seen in the original language of course. It is one of those movies you have to see if you dont want to miss what should not be missed.

    Awesome!
This biography is fantastic. Not only is it artistic, but the direction given was so good you feel like you are in the movie. This movie is so well made and so well acted, I think it should be re-released in the cinemas, just to commemorate Robert Di Niro’s awesome acting. The movie did not gross as much money as it should have when it was released at that time. Maybe just bad timing, But the fact that De Niro won a Golden Globe for this, speaks for itself! 10/10.

Great film, great product, excellent service!
I was expecting this blu ray movie to have little special features due to there being a 2nd release which was the 30th anniversary edition, when infact it has a lot, not to mention the excellent delivery which was very quick and accurate. 5 stars!

    right raging film
After reading the Robert De Niro biography. Raging Bull gets quite a few mentions and ‘packs plenty of punch’ (see what i did there!) in the making of De Niro’s acting career and his future performances.

Raging Bull, as I watched it again from a purely acting point of view, is sensational. De Niro’s performance lights up the black and white shot film. Knowing a bit more of what went on during the shooting of the movie only adds to the film itself.

Well worth a watch even more so after reading the biography.

De Niro & Pesci Together For The First Time
A brutal film about a brutal man and how he started a slim and lithe sportsman to an overweight cabaret act, the fights he had in the ring and outside with his wife and brother. Robert De Niro and Joe pesci are outstanding as is Cathy Moriarty who plays Vickie the wife of Jake La Motta. Even if you don’t like sporting films, the drama is well played by first class acting

A fantastic addition to any collection.
By far De Niro’s best work, released in 1981 Raging Bull is a must see. This is an iconic film and a great example of beautiful cinematography. Scorsese enhances a true story of one man’s struggle in the sporting arena of boxing. Although this film can feel a little depressing in parts, it is very enjoyable and entertaining.
A great cult film that will look great in any collections. Well worth 6, and useful for those interested in gender studies.

    The real deal
This film is magnificent and what can I add here that’s not already been said? For me, the most poignant moment is right at the end of the extras where they cut between De Niro and the real La Motta delivering the lines from ‘On the Waterfront’. De Niro was fantastic at the end of the film, but it’s the way La Motta spits out each line and the weight with which he delivers each phrase cut from bitter experience that makes this for me. Seeing it spliced in this way left De Niro’s closing sequence slightly flat in comparison. I’m not taking anything away from De Niro’s performance, which was incredible but please, if you have this version watch this section to see what I am talking about. Stunning stuff.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersA mighty Film
Without doubt one of the all-time great films sees the pairing of Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro.
Filmed almost entirely in black and white, De Niro plays Jake La Motta, the American middleweight fighter. While often dark and violent, Scorsese’s abundant talent is plain. From a simple shot in a mirror to the legendary fight sequences the direction is breathtaking. Joe Pesci is great as La Motta’s younger brother.
A film that is both impossible to criticise and one to judge other films by. Buy.
