Ok this is quite a good lighter but it has a few flaws.

    Good points:

Rechargeable so no more need to buy gas or flints.
    Looks sleek and classy.
    Easy to use.
Quick to charge and lasts well.
    Wind proof.

    Negative points:

You have to get what you want to light really close (almost touching) the arc – not so easy when it’s a candle in a holder.
Uses micro USB with a very, very short cable.

Overall though, despite the negatives, this is a really good lighter and would make a nice gift for someone.

Love this, the thought have never having to go thought the messy process of filling a lighter with gas or of fuel is very good, and the electric arc lighting mechanism is very good and works very well.

You no longer have the risk of the flame burning you when you are lighting a Yanky type candle, gas hob etc.

The lighter itself is very similar to that of a zippo with the comfortable click when opening and closing, the button to start the lighter is similarly clicky. The blue lighting on the side is also well done and not too distracting.

The only fault I can find so far is that th paint seems to be wearing from around the lid after only a few days, small bits granted, but it looks like it’s painted black, and perhaps powder coating would have been a better choice.

Comes in a nice presentation box, making this a great gift for those that use lighters.

It is powered purely by its internal rechargeable battery – no need for gas – just recharge whenever it runs down.

The moment you open the lid, the blue lights glow, and when you press the top button the head of the lighter becomes lit with the electric arc plasma generated.

This will be wind proof and pretty much set anything alight that a conventional lighter would – very effective and a must have gadget that most anyone would be very pleased with.

Uses the older micro-USB charging socket and comes with a short charging cable, I think everything should be USB-C nowadays – but I guess it could have made the lighter thicker.

    Would recommend this lighter.

I’ve reviewed a number of plasma arc lighters on here, and they all have USB-C.. not this one though. No idea why, but it has the older Micro USB so that means I’ve got to keep one more cable out on my desk just to charge this. Not too much of an issue, but enough to knock one star off the rating.

In terms of build quality, it’s great – a nice tough metal case in black (my favourite colour).

At the bottom of the lighter, you have a Micro USB port (boo). On the side where the flap opens, you have a single button to activate the arc lighter, and a see through plastic strip that shows the battery level, as well as the text “Arc Lighter”, just in case you forget what it’s called. The button and the strip are backlit with a cool blue light when the flap is opened.

With the flap closed, the activation button does not respond, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally electrocuting yourself or setting your trousers on fire when fumbling through your pockets.

The flap itself is solid – when you open it up to around to an angle of 45 degrees, it will swing open thanks to some springs, and will stay open until you force it back down. You can’t flip it open and closed like a zippo unfortunately.

The arc itself works great, and lights up my smokes in all manners of weather (today it was both 40mph winds and rain).

In terms of battery life, this one seems to last a lot longer (perhaps 3x) than my other arc lighters which is a massive plus. My other lighters seem to need a charge at least 3 times per day.

This is a solid no frills arc lighter and it works great. 4/5 for me.

Great gift for someone who is always losing there lighter, well unless they lose this one.

Charges quick and they seem to last forever per charge.

I would say this is really for smokers only, or people who first light a splint before lighting a candle, it is very tricky to get it into a candle wick inside a jar due to the way the lid is and how small the hot area is.

Build quality feels nice. The case is sturdy with a smooth positive feeling when opening closing the lid. It will not work until the lid is open. so no chance of draining the battery in a pocket.

If you touch the arc, or try to heat up something metal/conductive you tend to get a shock so be careful!
