I bought this as we have had a few cars taken in the local area without the keys by using a device which scans the area for signals and amplifies them to steal the car. That means they can stand outside your house and take your can with the keys hanging in your house. I put my keys inside this box and took it to the car, standing next to the car it would NOT open. Tried again once car was opened and it would not start or recognise keys were present. I then opened the lid and the car started straight away. Its cheap and will go with most decors and can sit out of the way, all you have to remember now is to put the keys in the box instead of the usual place
I recently tried an experiment where I placed my car keys inside a box and held the box close to the car, the car didn’t open. However, I found it interesting that Bluetooth signals can still penetrate the box because my phone can connect to Bluetooth devices inside the box. I learned that the box effectively blocks the signal from my car keys, which is the most important thing.
The box is perfectly okay for the money, it covered in a faux leather matriel.
The inside of the box is faux suede lined.
The lock/catch is cheap yellow metal and every time I try into open it it catches on my finger cuticle, so much I probably won’t bother using the catch.
The box does not stay open, I though maybe that’s a good thing but no it should stay open so you can put things in more easily.
I wondered how to test the faraday credentials so I put my wireless ford car key in this box and took it out to the car, stood outside the car door and tried to open the door, it would not open. Normally the wireless signal would be recognised when I stand outside the car and the door would unlock but with the keys in the box the signal was blocked.
It’s a nice box, not too big.
