AOC Gaming CU34G2XP – 34 Inch WQHD Curved Monitor, VA
AOC Gaming CU34G2XP – 34 Inch WQHD Curved Monitor, VA, 180Hz, 1ms GtG, HDR400, Height Adjust, Game Mode, Speakers (3440 x 1440, 400 cd/m HDMI 2.0 / DP 1.4)
180Hz Refresh Rate
Competitive and intense gaming demands the best technology to ensure lag-free, smoother gaming. This AGON by AOC monitor features a 180Hz refresh rate, making it 3x faster than a standard display. A lower frame rate can make enemies appear to jump from spot to spot on the screen, making them very difficult targets to hit. A 180Hz frame rate restores those critical missing images back onto the screen, revealing enemy movements in ultra-smooth motion, letting you more easily target. With this AGON by AOC gaming monitor, you won’t have to put up with input-lag and screen tearing.
Vesa Certified DisplayHDR 400
Even the lowest level of High Dynamic Range (HDR) feature poses a significant upgrade to common monitors. The peak luminance of 400 cd/m² enables your display to hone the picture quality with a manifold colour spectrum and more diverse contrast. The VESA-certificate ensures richness of detail and realistic portrayals of game and film worlds.
HDMI
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is supported by the current gaming consoles, current GPUs, set-top boxes, supporting the HDCP digital content protection system. HDMI 1.3-1.4b versions support up to 144 Hz refresh rate@1080p and 75 Hz@1440p, while HDMI 2.0-2.0b versions support 240Hz@1080p, 144Hz@1440p and 60 Hz@2160p (4K).

The description for the CU34G2XP is incorrect. I contacted AOC and they informed me that this unit does not have speakers, it is confusing why Windows detects the monitor as having speakers though. This issue needs to be addressed.
Bloody love this monitor. Upgraded from a Samsung 1080 to this 1440p monitor.
The image is incredible, the colours are so deep and having this on my desk my k/d in warzone is much more respectable. Great pairing with my 4070 graphics card.
I had to return it because it was faulty so it ruined my 1st impression but I got the same one from somewhere else, Good quality monitor, easy to assemble, comes with hdmi and dp cable, really good for the price, speakers are absolute rubbish, but can’t complain for the price.
Great monitor once everything set up to my taste. No black smearing, I don’t really notice any difference between this VA panel and any other type, other than the blacks are blacker. The red tint people talk about is gone with simple rgb adjustment.
My only criticism is I wish I didn’t have to spend so long adjusting but it was simple enough.
Due to the resolution at this size the pixel density seems quite low to the eyes,
The colour and framerate are consistent and there are plenty of settings to customise them to your own needs
This was a steal for me while on sale, it’s absolutely smooth and great for those looking for a clear and crisp gaming experience.
It was easy to set up and assemble together, comes with British plug and EU/American 2 pin plug. As well as a HDMI and the other display cable I use that plugs into the back of the HDMI. You have two HDMI slots at the back, as well as the 1 other display slot.
Having the other display slot is great if you’re running multi display set up.
It’s ideal for what I want and need, and I highly recommend if you’re looking for a nicely priced monitor for a decent gaming experience. The size for me is the icing on the cake, it is PERFECT!
It’s well packaged too so you do not have to worry about it coming damaged, just remember to go careful when assembling. Other than that, you can go wrong with this purchase I honestly can’t recommend it highly enough.
Have owned the monitor for 3 months as of writing this review.
The stand is awful. The long leg spikes will try to go under your mouse matt unless you angle them just right (which you will need to do to stop your mouse bumping into them in the heat of battleXD). And the OSD buttons are a clown show, but the part that counts is…
Frankly I can’t imagine any 240Hz monitor being faster or clearer for fps gaming. Even TN panels. I also can’t imagine the LMB on the 240Hz Zowies being any better for fps. I’m not an expert and have upgraded to this from a 144Hz TN panel, so my experience with various monitors is modest to say the least. But I am very good at fps games and play competitively. To my mind this is as good as a 240Hz gaming monitor can/needs to be. And being an IPS panel, movies/media looks really good too.
As far as someone commenting that it doesn’t come with a USB to USB B cable so you can’t connect the monitors USB HUB to your PC…I honestly can’t remember whether I got that cable in the box or whether I’m using the spare I had lying around. However the USB hub is super useful and the fast charge USB really is faster than PC USB charging. The speakers are there just for convenience, not for any serious listening, but they are there, unlike similar monitors from other manufacturers at higher prices.
Simply put: if the stand was a classic square/round unobtrusive foot and the monitor had a nipple at the back instead of the worst bottom mounted OSD buttons ever (though the OSD software provided by AOC does the job just fine) in my opinion this would probably be the best price/performance competitive gaming monitor in the world by a country mile.
As it stands, it is still deserving of that title, only (at least for me) not quite so emphatically…
EDIT;
In March 2022 I’ve had to RMA the monitor because it started developing a blurry picture when in BIOS of my motherboard and it had weird white trailing on the AOC logo even when not connected to any display output. The RMA process is done through Amazon for the first 2 years of the warranty and was frankly as easy as an RMA as I could imagine (by the way you get 3 years warranty in total, I think, but didn’t confirm that). The replacement monitor works fine so far.
Does this incident make me reconsider the 5 star review I gave the monitor originally? Not really, but there are caveats.
Firstly, the complaints I had with the original monitor regarding the menu buttons don’t apply to the replacement. The new buttons are a lot less stiff and thus infinitely more usable and no longer a nuisance. It didn’t occur to me at the time that this was the real issue with the original buttons, I thought they were a pain to use because of their placement. Anyway, that’s certainly a plus.
Secondly, it’s also worth noting that the replacement/perhaps new? monitor (and I mean new as in they changed some things, not as in “it was new in the box”, which of course it was, I wouldn’t have accepted a “refurbished”/used replacement) is noticeably heavier. I didn’t have scales at hand to weigh them both before I sent the old one back, but me and a few other friends could feel the difference just lifting it up, it was obvious to the average human touch. Makes me think they put in a more substantial PSU inside compared to the old version…this is the only reason I can think of for such a weight difference. From that I could make a whole bunch of other speculations, but don’t want to do that in a review. I’ll just say that for your consideration the original faulty monitor was made in 05/21 and the replacement was made in 09/21.
Having said all that I still feel a 5 star review is justified because I accept that a small percentage of faults will happen on mass produced products, that is a fact. In this case perhaps I just happen to be the unlucky one that got hit. I certainly don’t have evidence to the contrary at the moment. Also, considering they made the RMA process so effortless I wasn’t particularly inconvenienced.
However I hope the replacement will hold up because if it doesn’t, then I will certainly be changing the nature and rating of my review.
