Fun update on a classic toy
My son absolutely loves this Ken doll! It’s refreshing to see a wider range of body types and styles represented in the Fashionistas line. This Ken has a cool, beachy vibe with his colorful patterned shirt and pink shorts. The quality is excellent, and he’s withstood quite a few dinosaur battles and pool parties. My only suggestion would be to add more articulation for extra play possibilities.
Daughters first Ke
This is my daughter’s first Ken doll. I wondered if she’d be disappointed receiving a Ken instead of a Barbie, but on receipt of it she ran off to get a Barbie so they could roll play. Ken has been played with a lot since and now has many many Barbie friends 🙂
This is a basic doll but of the high quality that you would expect from the Barbie brand. Ken’s clothes are removable and the outfit seems to fit with most play scenes my daughter puts him in so it was a good choice for her first Ken. For me as an adult the only negative is that the packaging contained a lot of plastic which was a bit disappointing as some Barbie dolls now come in completely non-plastic packaging.

Very impressed
Really impressed with this Ken doll. It’s exactly as it looks on the photos, and is a brilliant Southeast Asian inspired toy. Clothes are easily removed to be changed out for a different outfit. The hair is painted, so cannot be styled. He comes with no additional accessories. Suitable for a boy or girl to play with, or would be great for a collector.

Good size and clothes were removable which we liked as we have lots of clothes for the dolls.

Great Ken doll
The pictures are taken lovingly by my 7 year old for me to review.
Ken’s top is reversible and can be worn any way for a different look.
My daughter only has one other Ken – so she’s happy with another Ken added to her collection.
He isn’t as bendable though – which can be a bit of an issue but my child doesn’t seem to bothered.
He’s enjoying his time in the dreamhouse.
Make a nice gift – would recommend

This is the Mattel Toys Barbie Fashionistas Range Ken Doll, the doll is 12″ and weighs just 172g.
This doll is part of a wider range of fashionista Barbies, for example different styles of Barbie / Ken in a wheelchair, Asian, Black, Plus Size etc. This doll is Ken who is probably more interested in other Kens he has short length moulded brown hair, pink / blue heart t-shirt, peach shorts rounded off with fresh white trainers. He comes with no accessories, not even a man bag! He is very boyband!
My youngest loves Barbies and this is no exception, as she needs more male dolls.
I fully recommend this doll, as for just over 10 you can’t go wrong.
Barbie Fashionistas Ken Doll
This product was sent to me to review, as part of Amazon Vine. Below is my own real-world experience of using it.
I chose it for my child who has just started to take an interest in dolls. This Ken looks pretty friendly and relatable – he is exactly as pictured, true to life.
In terms of quality, the movement of the doll is a little stiff – you can move the arms and legs, but there is some resistance, and I personally was concerned about how durable it might be. Ken’s facial and hair detail are both painted to a high standard (I didn’t notice any smudging or unfinished areas). His clothes are fairly basic, but easy to remove and change as you please.
In summary, a good value toy.
It’s a Ken Doll…apparently
You pretty much get what you see here. He’s a Ken Doll in the official Barbie licensed packaging. Ken comes dressed in a patterned shirt, peach shorts and white shoes. All of the clothes are interchangeable as you would expect. The doll is not articulated. The doll is suitable for ages three and over. There are no accessories in the pack, like some other Barbie figures. This one is just Ken and his clothes!
Really well made!
This is exactly the sort of quality you’d expect from most Barbie merch, nothing overly fancy but really well designed and looks fantastic! There’s not a huge amount of movement in it, but it should be more than enough though, and should be sturdy enough to last through plenty of play!
Friendly looking Ken, minor cons
My daughter was very happy to receive her first Ken and have a boyfriend for her Barbies. This Ken is taller than the average Barbie doll and is wearing a fashionable outfit. His face looks friendly and kid, his neck looks a bit too big in comparison to the head and the rest of the body but my daughter hasn’t noticed. The body is slender but isn’t as mobile as I would have liked. For example you can bend the waist so he can ‘sit’ but you need to place the hands slight backwards to balance so he doesn’t tip backwards. Knees and elbows don’t bend.
Pretty detailed
This Ken is a little different from the Ken I grew up with, and that’s great!
I appreciate that the Barbie line offers dolls that reflect more realistic body shapes and sizes.
This Ken is a great addition to my daughter’s doll collection.
The only thing I would change is his range of motion.
He seems unable to completely bend at 90 degrees, making it tricky to get him sitting down in the Barbie furniture and vehicles
Just Ke
My barbie obsessive loves all Barbies and Kens but it is sometimes hard to find different looking Kens. This one looks like feminine (or emo as her older sister called him!).
She loves the outfit and likes the look. She has called him Ben (all her Ken names rhyme with Ken!)
He's just Ke
This is a classic Ken. He’s a very basic doll.
His head moves. So do his arms and legs – but they don’t bend at the elbow or knee. His head is slightly squishy soft plastic, and the rest of his body is hard.
Ken is a pretty skinny guy. His ankles are tiny but he has massively oversized shoes for some reason!
I loce his Ken jumper though.
Modern Day Ke
Barbie Fashionistas Ken Doll #219, comes very well packaged and presented with his modern removable outfit and boat shoes.
The doll doesn’t come with any other additional accessorizes and his limbs can’t bend as they just stay straight. His hair is completely painted on so can’t be styled unfortunately.
The doll is very well made and I love the detail that has gone into him to make him more relevant in today’s world.
This ken doll is suitable for a boy or girl to play with and would make a lovely gift.
