Has smooth edging and easy to hold.
Each circle has a different colour and texture.
Really great gift to give a young baby ages 0-2 years old.
5/5
Great for sensory exploratio
I am autistic and have sensory processing disorder and I really love using this. It is great for tactile sensory input. It is great for younger children who are developing their sensory processing. It is great to teach young children how to match based on colours and textures. The cylinders are large enough for a child to grip ahold to them as lots of children can struggle with fine motor skills. They are also large enough to not be swallowed, if a child put one of them in their mouth they would not be able to swallow it which is another positive as it is safe to be left with young autistic people alone. It is really high quality too, the wood is thick and durable and would definitely last for a long time. Each of the circles has a different texture which the person can rub their fingers over to get that tactile sensory input. It is also great if you’re trying to explore your or a child’s sensory needs as you can explore which textures they do and don’t like which will then help you develop a sensory diet for your child to keep them regulated.
very nice tactile toy
his is a lovely little wooden toy. made of mostly wood, and tactile colour matching sensory panels in the rollers. these have been fun for my little kiddo to explore. this would make a lovely gift for any toddler. a little pricey at time of review, however still a very nice toy and addition to our wooden toy collectio
Good quality sensory board
Nice simple, wooden sensory board ordered for use with a 2 and 3 year old. Really nice texture and finish to the whole thing, and one peg had a mirror and kaleidoscope which engaged the eldest a bit more than it might have done otherwise. It builds hand eye coordination, and we found it was also good for initiating conversation about colours and sensory topics.
As with many of these toys, they are relatively expensive. At a price of 22.99, it is good quality, but it depends on the budget you have available. Wooden toys are more durable and tend to last a long time.
Sensory board
This is so stunning! Sensory exploration is so wonderful for little hands to explore and this wonderfully crafted set keeps it compact and cleverly designed. The ten tubes are made form wood and the insides are plastic/silicone/felt. All extremely well made and they have been put to the test! My favourite is the prism one. I have spent a long time putting it in front of my eye and testing it to get some fantastic patterns.
Lots of ways of exploring including stacking and rolling. The base can be colour sorted but all circles can fit wherever. . It’s a lovely looking piece. 5*
Cute sensory board
This is well made, each little barrel has a different textured colour and circle in which correspons with a matching colour on the board (the two purple got a bit mixed up on certain light). These are nice and tactile with silicone, hard plastic and fluffy materiels within. Are sturdy and take being based around and thrown. Look pretty and come in a nice box, so also makes a lovely gift.
Excellent sensory toy
This is a great sensory you, made of good quality wood and painted with vibrant colours, little ones will love all the different materials in the centre of the circles.

Great sensory board
Great sensory toy for babies. Each piece has a different texture which is great for sensory play. They are a good size so it’s easy for baby to pick them up. Each piece matches with a certain colour so great to get your baby understanding different colours. The pieces aren’t too heavy and seem to be good quality. Your baby will definitely have loads of fun with this board!
A toy with many uses
This is a well thought out and excellently made toy. Firstly there are many different sensory experiences a child can have with these cute little circular toys, different colours and textures on each round disc, some make sounds, some don’t. They are all different colours with corresponding coloured spaces on the storage board so encourages recognition colours and colour matching. You can talk to your child about how they look, feel, sound etc. they are naturally made on the exterior with wood willing is sustainably sourced. Overall this is a lovely well thought toy which is attractive and exciting for little minds.
Colourful Sensory Board
My 1 year old immediately started playing with this and loved looking at each one, they’re a good size so he had fun grabbing them with both hands and meticulously inspecting each one. He also knew instinctively to practice shape fitting and placing them onto the cutouts in the board. It’s really well made, has a lovely feel that is made to last. The sensory bits are double sided so no matter which end you look at in the piece it’s got the same material. He comes back to it everyday and even finds way of extending play by stacking the pieces. This would still be great for under 1s with a lot of longevity. Would make a lovely gift for older babies and toddlers.
Great for sensory play
The Bigjigs Toys Rainbow Sensory Board is a brilliant toy for babies and toddlers.
The board is made up of ten circles which each have a different texture to them. They are not huge but they are plenty big enough for baby’s little hands. The textures include some silicone patterns for a bumpy texture, felt, a mirror and one that makes lots of triangle kind of shapes if you look through it. I like that there are lots of sensory opportunities with these pieces.
The circles also have a place on the rainbow coloured board which makes it a puzzle or colour matching opportunity and will help children learn to recognise colours as they get older.
This sensory board is very well made and even though it is made from mostly wood it is very smooth and safe for baby’s hands. I am really pleased with this product and the learning opportunities there are for baby with it.
Rainbow Sensory Board – Colourful Aesthetically Pleasing Toy & Great Way to Explore Textures
The sensory board toy from Bigjigs arrived in a nicely branded cardboard presentation box which would be ideal for gifting the toy in. The set includes x10 different pieces each with a different colour and texture and the board which the pieces sit into. Overall, the set measures 25.5cm in length and 11.4cm in width.
The sensory board is suitable for a child over the age of 12 months, so would make a lovely 1st birthday gift, and I do think that the various textures and colours offers interest for a little one of this age. The sensory board is wrapped in white tissue paper upon arrival and the packaging is totally plastic free which is a great environmental choice. I thought that the presentation was good and it didn’t arrive with any scuffs to the painted surfaces.
The board is very hands on which encourages the development of fine motor skills and hand eye coordination, as well as problem solving in the form of matching the coloured textures held within the tubes with the correct matching colours on the board. The sensory board offers a variety of different textures which are also visually exciting and includes materials such as rippled silicone, fuzzy felt, velcro and a mirror to name a few.
The x10 small tubes that hold the textures are made completely from FSC certified wood as well as the base board which is painted in bright rainbow colours. The sensory board set create a very aesthetically pleasing toy which is very eye catching. The set feels very durable and the pieces are perfectly ergonomic for little hands, with each of the components having a nice tactility without any sharp edges that could be harmful. I’m pleased to say the toy also came with the appropriate safety marks on the box.
The toy is an aesthetically pleasing object with bold colours and when not in use looks lovely on the nursery shelf. The sensory board is gender-neutral in terms of colours so would suitable for both girls and boys to explore and learn.
Priced at 22.99 at the time of reviewing, this is a lovely quality sensory board which is a brilliant educational learning aid and is also durable and aesthetic. The toy is well made / finished and there is plenty to occupy your little one with. It is a premium feeling toy and would make a lovely birthday gift — I would definitely recommend it.
Sensory board for enhancing fine and gross motor skills
This board has been a huge hit with my 11m old.
Each piece has a corresponding colour to its space on the board, with a different texture inside. The board and pieces are wooden, with carpet/wood/silicone textures inside the circular pieces.
Great for practicing colours and hand eye coordination, as well as enhancing sensory experiences within the pieces. My LO uses his pointy finger to feel inside the pieces and is often seeking out the particularly rougher textures.
Good quality, but lightweight toy. This has been able to withstand a thre throws (even outside) and it has not damaged the pieces so far. (It also won’t hurt too much if you accidentally get in the way of a toddler firing line)
I’m happy to recommend this product.
Good fu
Lovely toy for the 12m + age group. As they are all the same shape you don’t get the frustration of trying to put the “wrong” shape in the wrong slot, but they can begin to colour code when they are ready. The different textures are fun and I especially like the prism one! Nice travel toy too as it doesn’t take too much space – and you can always stack the wooden shapes – pushing them over never gets old!
Lovely Simple Toy for a Baby
Colours, shapes and textures are important for a baby as it develops its hand-eye coordination. And this toy provides ten differently textured cylinders and a brightly coloured board into which they can be placed.
All of the parts are either wood or very high quality silcone/plastic and have none of the nasty ‘tatty’ feeling that so many children’s toys have.
So many hours of stacking, rolling and sorting can be had with this one simple toy.
A wonderful thing to be able to gift.
