Great for Hard Water areas
If you’re not going to through the cost of getting a plumber around, buying and fitting a hard water filter then these are a good alternative. There is the possibility though that you could be paying for the brand name as there are cheaper alternatives around.
These actually work!
We have terrible limescale where we are. Our kettle will scale up within 48 hours of descaling and we’d tried various jug filters to try combat this with nothing good to say about any of them.
Went into these very skeptical, thought it would just be another case of snake oil but NO… using these ‘Pro Limescale Expert’ filters the kettle is pristine after weeks!
Granted they ARE expensive, but I caught them on offer with Amazon so keep an eye out for when they are.

Brita Pro cartridges are brilliant as the water tastes cleaner The kettle has no limescale even after a month, which is amazing, saves cleaning it!!! So I will definitely be buying these cartridges again. These were a good price on Amazo
Excellent product.
Tea and other drinks taste so much better, We can always tell if non filtered water is used. We only ever used genuine Britta filters and consider cheaper non genuine ones a false economy. Pleased to see they now remove limescale too. Judging by our kettle that is very effective. Coffee machine will benefit too not having to descale it which I hate doing.
good easy to use water filte
Have used these for a couple o years. The Hard water filter dies seem to improve the taste of the water and has saved my kettle from excessive limescale build up. They are quite expensive, but value improves with bigger number purchased.
Good price
I like this product . I used it for hardwater when steam ironing. This one is a good version. I dont see any dirt or limescale coming out the steam iron.
Outstanding Filtration and Great Value for Money
I’ve been using the BRITA MAXTRA PRO Limescale Expert filters for a few weeks now, and the difference in water quality is immediately noticeable. Living in an area with particularly hard water, limescale build-up has always been a problem. However, since switching to these filters, I’ve seen a significant reduction in limescale deposits not only in my kettle but also in my coffee maker and other appliances.

I live in an area that has hard water and therefore. There is a lot more calcium carbonate in the water supply.
That fact, can make make your kettle build up lime scale and have various knock on effects. One of which is using more electric to boil a kettle of water. That’s aside from taste issues
In the present climate we need to save money where we can. So I purchased a Brita jug and some replacement filters.
I had cleaned my kettle prior to use and had removed all the limescale with an easily available consumer kettle cleaning solution.
I’m in my second month of use now. Which means I’m on my second filter (One filter lasts approx 28 days) and my kettle is still totally limescale free. Which is brilliant!! That wouldn’t be the case without the water filter.
The filter also make the water taste better.
One caveat, I would add is:
If you don’t intend on keeping your water filter and your newly filtered water in the fridge? Then always boil the filtered water before use.

Although with mentioning the manufacture. One little tip I will add is. That I noticed you can buy the products right here on Amazon cheaper than directly from manufacturer.
That being said the manufactures website is the best place to query any questions regarding safe use.
For me using the Brita water filter is a win, win situation. You’re using your kettle more efficiently and your reducing a ton of contaminants from your tap water.

Great performance
I live in a hard water area with old pipes. I tried this filter when it came with my new jug and haven’t looked back. I’ve been using Brita filters for over 15 years for the kettle, but since switching to this filter last year I’m finally able to drink tap water. No more plastic bottles for us!

Arrived very quickly and very good value since I got 6 for a similar price as 3 in a local supermarket. Also I purchased the ones designed for hard water areas which had never seen before and you can taste the difference the water definately tastes softe
Wouldn't do withou
As we live in a very hard water area we use our Brita water filter all the time for drinks and also to use in the coffee maker, steam cleaner and my iron. It had defiantly made a difference to how long I can leave between descaling products and I would not be without them. I just wish they were easier to recycle.
Great new produc
Purchase these for our brita mug because we live in a hard water area. I was a bit sceptical, however it looks like is working by removing part a big portion of the limescale.
No more scum in tea and coffee
We live in a very hard water area and even though we have a filter on our water supply it doesn’t help Limescale. The difference to a cup of tea or coffee is amazing – no scum and tastes so refreshing. An essential product in our kitchen.
They stop the limescale
My tap water has a horrible tang with it but once its been through the filter it tastes like water used to and want to have a drink rather than have to have one. I will definitely continue to use them.

Good at removing limescale - but not much else
The reformulated Brita cartridges are certainly good at eliminating limescale, but at the expense of other things. There is only so much room in a cartridge; if they are packing in more ion exchangers, there must be less of something else; activated charcoal, i suspect.
Extreme Hard Water Area - This Does The Job!
We are absolutely delighted with these limescale filters! We live in an extreme hard water area which kills kettles and leaves hot drinks tasting meh These filters have been a game changer. They don’t eliminate limescale but there’s a HUGE improvement! The kettle now only needs a light clean with vinegar as opposed to an industrial level descale, and our coffee is CONSISTENTLY better. Fantastic!
I didn’t believe this could be this good
I find it incredible that this is so much better than even the standard new maxtra which itself is better than the old one. I live in London very hard Water area and this filter is the only one that excels and gives you water that is so tasty and pure from the glass that you’ll probably give up Wine and Beer!!!
Happy to see limescale treatme
Keen to use these new filters as they are now featuring limescale removal. We’re in a hard water area so looking forward to scale reduction. Filters fit perfectly and the filter speed seems improved. As easy to use as previous filters and appearance is the same.
Subsequent filtered water is of good quality. Removes the chlorine taste and seems to be less limey.
Significantly less scale in kettle than with Maxtra Pro
Thank goodness they’ve made one specifically for hard water as their standard filters don’t stop my kettle needing fortnighly descaling – we live in North Essex where the water is very hard. This is the kettle after two weeks of only being filled with water from the filter jig using these new Limescale filters – still not preventing it entirely but no flakes of scale in my cuppa after a fortnight is a big improvement.
Outstanding Limescale Filtering Performance
I recently upgraded to the BRITA MAXTRA PRO Limescale Expert Water Filter Cartridge, and I couldn’t be more pleased with its performance. This 6-pack refill set not only provides excellent value but also delivers exceptional results in filtering limescale from my tap water.
Compared to the older version, I have noticed a significant improvement in the reduction of limescale buildup in my kettle and appliances. The water tastes noticeably fresher and cleaner, giving me peace of mind knowing that I’m consuming healthier water with each sip.
I live in an extremely hard water area and have been very impressed with these. They make the water taste of nothing – which in my view is what water should be like. However, they are far too expensive for what they are and I don’t know how they warrant the price.
Brita is always good quality and the new Pro style filters very well, except that it is very slow to filter with having only one exit outlet at the bottom. HOwever, that is maybe why the water tastes good. Also, I think it lasts longer than the old type. I only buy it when on offer, as they are all really expensive.
