Great quality produc
Bought as a gift. The quality looks good, the instructions are easy to follow and it’s taking a long time to make so keeping him busy! Not finished yet but it already looks great fun and lots of little details.
Amazing birthday or Christmas gif
I got this as a present for someone. All I can say is that it looks fantastic. Not sure how easily it was to assemble, but my friend said it was the best birthday gift she received in a while. All pieces look of good quality. No problems whatsoever to assemble. No missing pieces. Nicely and tightly packed inside, despite the outer package being a bit ripped (probably during transit). Nothing was damaged thanks to the way it was packed. Overall, great gift for those who like to build.
My daughters favourite gif
Bought for my 10 year old daughter as she loves intricate crafts. She built this in about 6 hours and only needed help with a couple of pieces that needed a lot of force to push together. She has asked for more as she enjoyed it so much and felt very proud of what she had achieved. All the pieces came in pop out sheets of wood, clearly labelled and with easy to understand instructions. She loved that she had to create every book. Takes patience which I would struggle with but she loved every moment of the build. Think I should try take a leaf out of her book when it comes to patience…pun intended.
Amazing!
Just received the eternal book store and the magical pharmacist so haven’t built them yet. Opened to make sure all pieces were there and they are. Looks really good quality with clear instructions. Can’t wait to build them.
I’ll update once built!
UPDATE
Eternal bookstore – Found this a great build for my first one. There is a lot of books to make in this and they did take me a few hours just for them. The rest of the build was great. I took my time as I’m a perfectionist so had to have the furniture etc match up properly. Looks even better in person. Instructions were clear to read and follow. I used mainly gorilla silicone glue and tacky glue for this. Silicone was great to sticking things quickly but also allowing flexibility with the wood pieces if needing adjustment before fully drying. Tacky glue was also great for sticking paper pieces and small wood pieces.
Had a lot of books left over that I didn’t need to add. Securing the wires for lighting was quite easy aswell.
Magical pharmacist – This was slightly harder and a lot more detail. Some of the parts were quite small like the beads which were quite fiddly. This kit had a lot of stickers which made it easier although some that were stickers would have been easier as just paper like for the inside of the mini bottles. Wiring was also harder in this. By the time I reached the end I had to rejig some of the earlier wiring to make sure it could all reach the battery box but also stay in place where I’d taped it. The hardest thing I found was building the cauldron. The instructions didn’t indicate you needed glue for this until after it had been pieced together, however trying to piece it together to the top and bottom parts while connecting new pieces was near impossible so definitely use glue as you go. This one is also more aesthetically pleasing on a shelf.
Gorgeous & Fu
I made this over a few days with my daughter. It was fun to put together, a few fiddly bits but nothing too frustrating. The instructions were good and it came together well. I have bought other laser-cut wood kits that don’t fit together well but this is great. The small nail file for sanding any parts that are a bit tight is good. There are so many lovely details, it looks great on the bookshelf.
After completing my first one of these (Nebula common room), I immediately ordered another and chose this beautiful Japanese scene. It is stunning. So much to look at. There are some very small pieces and on some pieces, spares are provided. With a mirror at the back, it looks like the stream continues into the mountains. Some pieces are coloured on both sides so can be seen in the mirror creating another feature. I would highly recommend this, it is lovely. I am slightly addicted now, but can’t wait to get another one!
I finally decided to buy the Elegant Song nook after looking at the others, never done one before. Instructions are surprisingly clear, well laid out and comprehensive. Although the little push tools that come in the kit are good, I did use a craft knife from the back on the tags to help get some of the parts out cleanly. There are small fiddly pieces such as the lantern that are tricky to get out whole, glad there are spares as I needed them. Final result is beautiful and I have just about got the superglue off my fingers.
Quality kit!
Teenager built this in its entirety unassisted from 25-28th Dec – only gave up on the cauldron as the curved piecing was hard to get right.
I was worried it would be poorly cut and fiddly but was delighted with how neatly all the bits popped out with no sprue or flashing.
Got this for my daughter as a Xmas gift and she loves it. We had an amazing day together putting it all up. Took us all day but considering a storm going around outside, what else would you do
My daughter is 12 and definitely needs someone older to help out.
All looks great now and most importantly the gift is appreciated
Definitely would recommend for everyone.
Amazing
Absolutely love this.
Got given this as a gift for my birthday and loved it!
Although it’s not overally easy to assumble because some parts require a fair bit off attention to detail and/or are fiddly the instructions where really clear and the attention to detail in this product is amazing. Took me quite a while to finish but that’s a good thing to be honest as it allowed for all the detail that’s involved 🙂
If I had to pick fault with anything it’d be that there wasn’t any glue but other than that everything was so well thought out, all of the wires are hidden and even the blurbs are on some of the books!
Okay product does get a thumbs up from me as concept is lovely. I’m enchanted by what it is and how it looks. I 4**** starred it for this reason. Its getting its final star because I had a couple of issues. Some of the pieces were badly cut and broke slightly on removal. There was a numbering issue on parts to instruction manual. Namely sheet F didn’t actually exist as they were wooden book inners. Those fireplace parts were located on a completely different sheet which I worked out half way through build. Also some of parts of wood pieces were slightly warped. This didn’t help when putting together. Also where the wires for lighting were supposed to go through were beyond fiddly. Took 3 attempts to get final side panel on. First attempt broke my gluing so had to take apart and re do. I didn’t want to rage quit on it despite all of this. I recommend craft knife over scissors for paper cutting. Crafting tweezers for fiddly bits. Oh and not sure pva was the best choice of glue. Might try a clear all purpose next time
This set is lovely, lots to make and easy to change the layout of the smaller items as they are glued in place rather than slotting in. Unlike similar sets this one does require glue for lots of the pieces. I used a gel superglue for the wooden areas and PVA for the paper books. The only real down sides are the lack of dust cover and that the light is tired on from the back of the book nook, although this is clear in the description.
I found the pieces easy to push out and managed without damaging anything. Clear instructions. I have since bought another kit from the same company.
I’m in love. Bought this for me and my husband to do together. Packaged very well and on opening you can instantly tell its good quality. The little pieces are so intricate and you do need patience, but it’s so worth it. It adds a special touch to the shelf. As for cost, I think it’s definitely value for money. Will definitely be adding a few for to the collection. I’m addicted!!
This is a great product and gives you many hours of fun building it. I would suggest using the high grip Collall Sticky Glue and super glue. The books for the shelves take some time to cut out and glue together. I would also advise having a couple of brown felt pens or similar. When you pop out the wooden parts and sand the little connector parts, it can leave a lighter spot that is visible in some areas. A quick touch up with the brown felt/paint finishes it off lovely. I adapted mine by buying some coloured acetate sheets to make the roof look nicer. I also swapped out the battery pack for one with a timer (from an old Christmas decoration) so it comes on at 6pm and goes off at 12 each night. Also added a small handle to the back door to access the battery section easier.
Highly recommended and great fun. On to the next one.
So happy with these gorgeous kits! The components are absolutely top quality, sturdy and incredibly detailed. The printing and imagery is beautiful. The instructions are also very comprehensive. I have bought the music room to make for my dad for Christmas as a personalised gift. He is a musician so the design couldn’t be more perfect. I also bought the magic pharmacy for mom who is a cat lover. Looking forward to assembling them for them.
Didn't come with dust cover.
I like constructing these book nooks, this one was a lot more glue together than click together but still a good project. Only down side was the advertised dust cover wasn’t in the box so dropped the score to 4 stars.
Good Ki
I really liked the look of this kit, it was easy to put together with a detailed instruction book, it took a while to work out the lighting, which is really bright. There are many small parts which need patience to extract from the wood panel without breakages, although they do give extra for the really small parts, I managed to build the kit without any breakages. I’m so pleased with this book nook which is beautiful when lit.
The down side to my kit is when it arrived the box was unsecured so the front dust cover was missing, one of the glass bottles was broken and another had a crack, having said this these parts were not a major issue.
Hours of fu
This isn’t the greatest in terms of quality, mainly when it came to the instructions, often with blurry letters and a couple of missed steps.
However, I had no trouble finishing it and had a lot of fun doing it. A bit fiddly at times but that’s just part of the experience! Looks so good.
Having done a few wood kits before, this caught my eye and I was very impressed with the results. The parts are high quality and fit together well. There are a few bits that stop it from reaching 5 Stars though. For example a few of the parts can break as you punch them out. The design is very dark without the LED lights, and you do feel like you are squashing the wires. Since it requires glue to build. I would also have liked to see a small bottle of glue included in the kit. (I would recommend a good crafting would glue, and possibly one that can also be used to coat and protect the paper elements.)
Kept me busy for a good month doing a few hours every few days! Deffo worth getting if you enjoy 3D puzzles! I omitted a few decorations and changed up some of the placement of things to suit my taste and what I think looked best but it’s yours to make your own 🙂
Things to keep in mind:
It’s wood! So be super careful popping out tiny pieces, but you can fix with some glue. The table is the most delicate – Take the time to sand down rough edges from where pieces were attached and shade in with a brown pencil to make it seamless where it will be seen, worth the extra time!
Get a pritt stick, some superglue and wood glue so you have options for different parts, you’ll soon get to grips with what glue works best for different parts (ie pritt stick for the books, superglue for the furniture etc) when working on a piece of furniture reference how it will be seen when finished to help with positioning and making sure the “good side” is seen from the front 🙂
Honestly enjoyed making it so much! Hope this helps someone giving it a go!
What I used:
Electric nail file (for sanding) or nail file
Brown pencil or crayon
Pritt stick
Superglue – essential
Wood/all purpose glue – essential
Sharp scissors – essential
Toothpick for rolling the papers
Tweezers
Tape
Orange stick/skewer
Tupperware to keep loose parts in like the books
Batteries for the lights
A lot of patience!
