For the price you cannot go wrong with this – just as good if not better than more expensive ones. The photo mount could be a little more solid but that is because phone is heavy. Would recommend

A monocular or binoculars is down to personal preference. I always find that I cannot get the pinpoint focus with a monocular as I can with a pair of binoculars. This Hutact monocular does a prettey good job with the focus for ranges between about four metres and infinity.

The build of this monocular is very good and has a good robust feel about it. The manufacturer claims it to be waterproof and so it should be good for all outdoor activities when the viewed object wants to be brought closer. The user can use the monocular with or without glasses – I prefer without – but performance is just as good in either case. The optics let lots of light through enabling the monocular to be used when lighting is not that good.

The unit comes with a carrying case and shoulder strap as well as two draw bags for the monocular and attachments. Everything will fit snuggly in the carrying case. A hand strat is included for the monocular as well as lens caps.

I think the atachments are included as a bit of a gimmick. There is a very cheap tripod that the monocular can be attached to but, to use it, you would need to lay down or find a suitable ledge to set the tripod on. There is also a smartphone attachment enabling the camera to take photos throught the monocular. For me it was far too fiddly to set up so will never be used.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid build

This is a real performer with a 56mm front element it lets in plenty of light even at dawn or dusk this is still usable compared to the 45mm versions, it’s well coated to withstand the weather and gives a 12x magnification so good for all sorts from bird watching to sports, it also includes a carry case, tripod and smartphone adaptor so you can take images on your phone through this, overall, good value and good performance.

Comes with everything in this kit, monocular is great to hold and operate gives a nice clear view with the added tripod mount. I do feel the attachment for the phone to take pictures is a fiddle and a bit of a gimmick .
This is a good starter kit aimed at older children and adults and good value for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable to hold…

Being SVI for the past 30 years, I’ve seen a number of relatively low-cost monocculars. This ‘scope is brilliant value: Amazingly bright optics which preserve true-to-life colours in the fixed x12 magnification. The minimum focus distance is about 6 metres, so it is not going to see much use indoors, but the combination of good magnification with large objective gives a good conic angle of viewing (almost 10 degrees). At a little over 500g, it’s not going to live in my shirt pocket! – but it is quite portable in its well-padded carry case and strap. The camera/phone mount is a work-in-progress for me: Can’t see how my Doro is going to make that work! But I’ve got a good monoccular! That’s all I wanted!
