Great item
Is a great item, it is sturdy and feels good in the hand, only issue I had was when adding the clear screen the glue slightly shows and is visible and it would be a pain to take apart and do again, but it is a great kit 🙂
Great case!
The product itself is great and has quality, however the screws and tools are garbage and make you a bit annoyed when assembling it back.
My kit came missing the 3M parts for the screen, which makes me wonder if my screen will hold as I use it to play, but I managed to install it without anyways.
The shell feels good to the touch and looks awesome! I am pretty excited to display it now with my other consoles.
This was a reshell for the original Gameboy color. The old shell was really worn and needed replacement. This product fresh out of the box is ready to go for the transfer. Easy shell swap as all of the parts fit exactly like the OEM GBC shell.

This has to be the best shell I’ve ever purchased for any type of game boy. The paint is a matte finish and looks fresh out of some thing Nintendo would actually make. If you are going to switch to backlight LCD screen, the shell already did the hard work for you by making it compatible. You can also change the buttons to your liking from red to black. As you can see, I chose to keep it original like the NES controller.
This shell is awesome! I decided to mix and match button colors and ended up keeping the original select/start buttons for the rubbery feel. I used the HISPEEDIDO IPS Q5 OSD V4 screen mod. The only issue is the A button gets stuck if it press the bottom left corner of it and that happens to be when I naturally press it. I haven’t even opened it to address this issue because I’m having too much fun playing it right now and I plan to get a few more of the eXtremeRate Shells and I’ll take a look then. As you may notice from the picture, I forgot to cut the shell for the text lighting too. They could add perforation for that I’d like to see more classic looking metallics available too. Gold specifically.
Conclusion – Great Purchase!
Edit – A button sticking solved. The new buttons have kind of a rough finish for grip. Very fine, almost rubbery. Not sure why the A button had a tendency to stick there and not anywhere else. Sanding/polishing the button sides fixed it. I used a new exacto to CAREFULLY scrape the sides, removing only a fine powder. It was almost nothing. It won’t now stick even if I try.

Everything is great except for the buttons…
The shell it’s self is great, quality, paint and easy to install with the Q5 LCD screen upgrade.
The only problems I had was, the D-pad right button wasn’t working unless using a lot of pressure and the silicon membrane for the A and B buttons were causing the buttons to stick, so I switched to back to the original pieces.
Solid reshell
Easy install, looks great. After reading another review here I opted to keep the original button membranes but everything works well.
You get two sprues of buttons with the NES version: one in red, one on charcoal. Only real qualm was the self-drilling triangle screws which threatened to strip themselves while I pressed hard on them.
