-The build quality of NEEWER RS3 Vertical Camera Mount is awesome which is no surprise because Neewer has always been my trusted brand for the best bang for my buck when I need photographic accessories. This thing is entirely made of metal and the knobs all have a great feeling when you turn them. There are no sharp edges that could be observed. The holes have a precise cutout on them so I could easily screw in my camera on it without worrying about it later on.
-The performance is great on the gimble when shooting vertically once properly balanced. This is all I need to tell you.
-NOTE: Once the camera has changed, you will need to rebalance the whole setup, which is quite annoying but this is not a fault of this particular product.

If you haven’t noticed, Neewer’s definitely getting some traction in the photography and video gear market. It’s great to see their quality improving over time while keeping their lineup affordable. We all love a good, reliable piece of kit at a decent price, right?
Vertical video is king on social media these days, so any tool that helps streamline that process grabs my attention. Neewer’s mounting plate claims to do just that. But is it worth investing in?
First off. Excellent build quality! All aluminum alloy, no flimsy plastic bits to break. It gave me a good first impression. We all need reassurance when putting our expensive cameras on the line. The rotation mechanisms, both vertical-to-horizontal and the 180-degree base rotation, are silky smooth. Locking everything down feels secure. It took me a few minutes to get the hang of it. Not exactly the most intuitive design in the world, but practice makes perfect. My advice: play around with it before you stick your camera and gimbal in the mix!
Now, Neewer talks about “seamless” and “effortless” transitions from horizontal to vertical. Let’s be real — that’s a bit of an overstatement. Gimbal balancing is a delicate art, and switching orientations throws that balance out the window. I’m okay with that because I tend to shoot either all landscape or all portrait per video project. It makes sense. However, if you’re constantly swapping between the two in the same video, this might slow you down. This mount, though, is an excellent piece of gear if you want the option to shoot specifically in vertical mode. I’ll be keeping it in my gear bag.
I also wish that Neewer expanded the compatibility to other gimbals. All it takes is to give the clamp more flexibility and adjustment ability to accommodate wider or narrower gimbal arms. I’ll be experimenting with modding this mount to tripods and other mounting gear. I’ll update this post with my testing outcomes.
The big question is: Is this worth it? Well, this ain’t a budget buy, and that reflects the quality. If you’re a serious content creator who needs that vertical video capability, I’d say this plate is a solid investment. It does its job well, and it feels like it’ll last.

NEEWER RS3 Vertical Camera Mount is the most innovative solution I have seen so far for quickly switching between horizontal shooting and vertical/portrait mode.
The camera mount has a little sliding lock that you push to rotate the upper portion between horizontal and vertical camera placement. You can switch orientations instantly without removing the camera, although in my experience you still need to rebalance the gimbal since the weight distribution changes.
Like other Neewer products I own, the Vertical Camera Mount is ingeniously designed and solves a specific problem in an efficient and elegant way.
I am enjoying the ability to quickly switch camera orientations so much that I am trying to find a way I can adapt this device so I can also use it on a tripod. Neewer – can you make one of these great gadgets for tripods? Or an adaptor of some sort?
I shoot real estate and switching from vertical to horizontal is a pain. Finding this was the answer to my prayers. It’s well once you figure it out. But I do find that it leans when it’s vertical because the arm has to be so low on the gimbal. Helped me save money then just buying the rs4

However, it does require rebalancing after changing positions, which, while expected, adds a slight delay, but well worth it.

As expected, this is another excellent Neewer photographic accessory. Cleverly designed and precisely manufactured entirely out of aluminum (including the tightening knobs), this is a high quality accessory built for professionals, and at a great price.

Got this for RS3 Pro to do some vertical video and was surprised how easy it was to set up the vertical and horizontal mode. Very clever design and works great. The balance did need to be redone each time you switch it up tho which was not too big of a hassle where before it was just so much work to do both steps. Definitely a time saver still wish there was a way to have a quicker rebalance but physics.

Like always NEEWER quality is perfect. To me Balancing was complicated and whenever I wanted to change positions to vertical, my stabilizer (djirs3) needed to balance again.
I’m happy to buy it because now I can record Vertical and Horizontal.
It does its job but after turning vertical, you will have to rebalance the gimbal, especially if your lens is on the heavier side. The only advantage over the original vertical mount is that I don’t have to bring another piece all the time but it doesn’t really save much time.
