I have recently updated my internet connection to Ultra fast fibre so decided to upgrade all my cables at the same time. Cat 8 may be a slight overkill but considering the cost difference between them and the usual cables it makes sense to future proof my setup. Everything connected seems to run super smoothly and my Xbox series X even shows a connection speed of over 1000mbps which isn’t bad considering my usual speed is 910mbps. I mainly use my TV to stream films etc and have noticed a quicker response time when loading up with zero buffering.
The cable itself is pretty robust with gold coated connection points which connect with a satisfying click. These cables won’t speed up your broadband speeds by themselves but will be more than capable of handling the current maximum Speeds offered by Broadband providers.
The cable feels very good quality, the RJ45 connects fit very well compared to other cables I have used which can sometimes feel loose in the sockets. Unfortunately I damaged the sheath of the cable when passing it through my flooring, but this is my fault and overall I am very happy with the cable. It provides perfect gigabit connection during speed tests
Did all that I hoped. With new iMac and this ethernet cable I downloaded 918meg – and also good result with wireless!!!
Must be the processing power of the new Mac as ipad only gets half that speed. But excellent cable and have no hesitation in recommending.
I was having lots of problems with my Wi-Fi signal and needed to have a wired connection between my router and my wi-fi extender as there was too much wi-fi interference. As I have a gigabit fibre connection, I wanted to try and get the fastest and most stable connection as possible. With 20M of this Cat 8 cable, I was able to move the wi-fi extender out of the room it was in and into the centre of the house where I now can get a strong signal everywhere and the speeds are excellent. I’ve also tested connecting this cable directly to my Mac Studio and that allowed me to get the full benefit of my gigabit fibre connection. Zero complaints, it does what it says it does and is well made.
My old desktop doesn’t do wifi and I’d moved it to another room so needed a longer ethernet cable. This has given me a more stable connection than the previous (cheap) cable did. It’s thicker and rounder than my old one so it has made it harder to conceal under the edge of the carpet but that’s a minor issue
2nd time purchasing this particular companies cables. Excellent quality, extremely flexible and very well connected. Perfect transfer rate of data over long distances. This one was 20m with no loss, even running through 2 switches. Next length I but will be even longer as I hard wire outlying buildings. Yes I’d recommend
I don’t know a great deal about WIFI and gaming, what I do know about is kids. Kid constantly screaming “I’m lagging, I’m lagging” every minute or 2. Me being an ace dad got on Google. Google blamed my rubbish WiFi speed and location of sons Xbox (other games consoles are available) So I got fibre broadband installed and had internet nodes installed with it. Went with youfibre who were brilliant (again other fibre providers are available) this helped them someone who had already had this issue said to hard wire the Xbox. I had to rely on trusty Google (other search engines are available and would probably find the same answer to be fair) So after doing a bit of research on Google I decided on a cat 6 or better. Now this is where Amazon (the one stop shop for everything you didn’t know you needed) came in. Looked for the correct length and found this beauty, placed the order and as is the case with Amazon it magically appeared at my door 16 hours later. Well I was more excited than the son to install this to be fair. Took minutes to install and since that day not a single shout of “Lagging it’s Lagging” So the moral of this story has to be, don’t buy your child a games console.
