Im not going to give these a mark for durability as I have not had them that long, but they do what they say on the box, easy to install, nice and light and have not lost any noticeable air pressure in the last few weeks that I have had them. all in all nice
SUper light and small. Do the job
These are good inner tubes. Work well. Haven’t noticed the difference with the ones I get from decathlon.
They seem to have the same thickness and be as solid as standard tubes.
THey come in a very small pack.
I recommend i
So far so good!
Lightweight, and very compact to carry as a spare. I’ve fitted both tubes on rimbrake wheels and done about 500k on them now with no issues so far. There’s a nice patch kit included – looks good but as I’ve not had a puncture yet I can’t comment on how effective they are.
Very nice quality TPU tubes - bonus patch kit makes this a steal of a deal
At just 24.99, this two-tube kit is great value at around 12.50 per-tube. As a bonus, a repair kit – usually costing around 3 or 4 is included.
The quality is good – the plastic non-removable valves are not something I’ve seen before but have read about.
I’ve not had a chance to use these yet, but the specifications and the overall weight/ quality fill me with a lot of confidence.
Thumbs-up so far!
Lightweight except in price
Compared to normal rubber innertubes, these innertubes are incredibly light and roll up incredibly small.
They come with a really long value which is useful for deep-section tyres (mine were 85mm) and because of their size, you could probably carry around a dozen in your back pocket and hardly notice.
However, that convenience and weight loss comes at a hefty price and as I’ve yet to test them fully on the road, I’ve yet to establish how durable they are or how resistant to punctures.
Looking at the material they’re made from, my guess is that they will puncture easily, so best off as a spare rather than a main innertube.
However, the dual pack comes with a puncture repair kit consisting of a number of non-alcoholic cleaning wipes and self-adhesive patches.
So far so good
So far so good – to determine if they are good value I’d have to wait a long while before posting this review. So, to date they have proved good – obviously lightweight and seem to be doing the job well. One feature is they seeem to retain their pressure better, so a tyre needs less re-pumping up week on week of use.
One of those things you never knew you needed until you got one...
I had no idea these were actually a thing until they showed up in my recommendations. Having always kept a couple of chunky rubber tubes on my touring bike – lest I get some flats – These make a huge difference. They weigh half as much (possibly less) and take up about a third of the space. So they can easily all be chucked into an undersaddle bag with a multi-tool.
As these came with a repair kit, I did actually try sticking a finger tack into one of the tubes to compare against an old rubber tube I has sat aside for repair – It does genuinely seem as though these give more resistance against pointy objects and there is a good flex to the material – although naturally, at speed and on the road I cannot yet comment.
I’d never even heard of TPU, so having read into it – It does seem as though it fares better against punctures and blowouts, so overall for the price I think these appear to be great value. As with anything relating my safety on the road, I shall update this if I see any problems going forwards. I normally get about 5/6 punctures a year (in specific circumstances) so it’ll be interesting to see how they go.
-Love the garish colour scheme 😀
Definitely lightweight. Definitely expensive.
I run tubeless in all my bikes, so tubes are only for carrying round in the hope that you never need them. With that in mind they fit the bill, being light and compact so they’re easier to carry round than a normal tube.
My concerns will be durability and roadside repairs. I have no idea how they will hold up to thorn season, and the fact that they have a specific type of patch makes me worry about sorting them out in the cold and rain.
My other concern about these is the price. I could get 6 or 7 tubes for the prices of two of these, so if they fail in relation to any of my concerns above I don’t know that I will replace them like for like.
Higher rolling resistance than latex, 14 g lighter than the lightest butyl tubes
TPU tubes seem to be all over social media.
I used to use Continental Supersonic Race – butyl tubes that weigh 50 g i.e. half the weight of normal tubes. I lost trust in them, probably more than I should have, but I did. Any way, I moved to 70 or 80 g latex tubes. These seem to be a little more reliable and have the edge for rolling resistance.
Anyway, if you look up the tests, TPU tubes have higher rolling resistance compared to latex.
So what are these good for? Probably a very light spare to keep your weight really low. That’s what I’ll use them for, but I’m sticking to latex in my tyres for riding tool I get a puncture – tried and trusted with a lower rolling resistance.
Fitting these to test – you have to be careful like all the light or latex tubes, but they seem fine.
Scary, but seem to work
Like other reviewers I found these weird and different, having used rubber inner tubes for 40 years. They are unbelievably light in comparison but feels very thin. However, I’ve commuted to work with one on the front of my road bike and I’ve stopped worrying about it now – it’s just an inner tube. I don’t need it for the weight reduction or possible speed gains of a serious rider but as a way to carry a lightweight spare tube or two these are absolutely brilliant.
Positives:
– Incredibly light
– Fit well
– The pink does make it much easier to avoid pinching the tube when putting the tyre back on
I will update if I have any issues with longer use but right now I am happy.
Very lightweight and compact, time will tell how well they work
I’d never come across TPU inner tubes before, I saw these on Amazon and thought they needed a try. As my picture shows they come in a very compact package so you can carry quite a few spares. This kit also contains some special patches in case of repairs. The tubes are very light weight, which for cyclists is always a plus. I tried inflating one outside of the tire to see how they looked, after a while it started to bulge, far more easily than a butyl tube would, which may indicate a higher level of fragility. It’s too early to say how they perform over the longer term, but they look like they will work. I’ve taken one star off the score as they do seem a little too easy to damage, I’ll update if they turn out to be brilliant.
