Great quality and worth it for the classic feel
I have plenty of controllers, but wanted the OG form factor to play SNES emulations. Quality control is solid, packaging is nice, and I’ve been playing all day already and bought a second one.
The Dpad is “forgettable” in the sense it just works, feels great, and I’m not bashing my head over missed or double presses. As such I’ve been enjoying playing the games instead of thinking about the controller which I think is further testament to this being a 5 star product.

I bought this to play my first Souls game, Elden Ring, and I do not regret this purchase at all. It's worked perfectly for that purpose and I've even used it for games like Helldivers 2 with great success. Solid build quality and durability - the only thing I wish it had was maybe a quicker self-turn off feature, as I tend to forget to turn it off and drain the battery without thinking.

Feels old-school but with better, modern build quality
I’ve been using this for a few weeks now, it feels excellent. It’s very reminiscent of the old controllers from a few decades ago but built using newer plastics, switches and manufacturing techniques.
I’ve very happy with it, fully recommended by me.

It's only been about a month, but I'm really happy with these. Have used them to play 4-player emulator games on my Steam Deck with Batocera Linux and they pretty much just work. Only issue is the thumb sticks can be wonky when you first start up the controller, but after you actually move the thumb stick at all, they seem to calibrate themselves and work perfectly for the rest of the session.

I'm a F 66-year old lifelong gamer . Was never interested in FPS games, so never gave a thought to using a controller. However, I recently started playing Baldur's Gate 3 on my MacBook Air (M2) and was finding using the keyboard/mouse so clunky. Then I saw a video about using a controller with that game on macOS. Well! I am a total convert now...it is SO much easier to play BG3 with a controller once you become familiar with its functions and can use them more or less automatically. For me, a couple of hours' playtime got me to that point. I'm sure I will enjoy using it with other games that have good controller support. I got the gray version of this controller and love its small, slim profile. It fits my small hands perfectly and is comfortable to hold and use for hours at a time. It connected flawlessly with my MacBook Air, both via a USB-C port and via Bluetooth. I like having the option of playing either wired or wirelessly and not having to fuss with batteries. So happy with this purchase!

Great controller with hall effect joysticks gives peace of mind for stickdrift. Has great connectivity options from bluetooth to wired across a variety of devices. Has vibration feedback and button config options, and great price to boot. Highly reccomend for on the go gaming.

Compared to the pro 2, it has a less features, no profiles, no additional buttons, no customizability. This one does not have the software like the pro 2. However if you want no grips, this is the option, so not too sure how to feel about the this product.

I bought this for my laptop bag because my Ultimate was too bulky and heavy for travel. I've used it effortlessly with my Legion laptop, my Steam Deck, and my Switch. It has excellent battery life, and you can pair it as a Windows or Switch controller, allowing for different button layouts despite it not being programmable like the Ultimate. It's so light, cute, and retro, while having joysticks and extra buttons needed for modern games. The hall effect sticks are immune to drift, making the controller a little more durable and an excellent choice for on-the-go gaming.

Got this for the Steam deck. I wanted a controller that didn't need a dongle and was compact enough for on-the-go. This is perfect and pairs/works well with the Steam Deck! It has all the buttons of a regular controller but in a compact form.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReplacement for older model
My use case is primarily on PC, however i have played many many hours on switch and have dabbled on android when bored at work but shh!

As it stands, the SNES controller is still my favorite controller to hold and use for long periods of time without stress to different parts of my hands. With that being said, this is my 2nd SN30 Pro controller, I am replacing my older model that isn’t even sold anymore to a newer model with upgraded Hall Effect Sticks. I am not having any issues with my older controller and I’ve had that since 2019. I don’t really notice a difference in the stick performance in normal use, but I’m sure internally its built to last longer to avoid any drifting issues (8bitdo doesn’t really go into any detail at all and have reached out to support to clarify). I did not update any firmware, using as is out of the box.

The build quality on this controller is matched only by 1st Party devices made by Xbox, Sony, Nintendo themselves. The buttons have a crisp feedback and are not mushy, even the triggers and D-Pad offer a crisp feedback when pressing! the only “mushy” buttons are the Start and Select buttons, just like the old SNES used to do. Again, my older SN30 Pro is still perfectly fine with moderate use since 2019, I’m just upgrading to see what’s new and to see what the deal is with these new sticks. I was hoping for more of an “x-box elite” type stick option here with a nice anti-friction surface and a tighter stick overall but alas, it seems to be about the same as the older 2019 model when in use.

Motion controls are as smooth as ever and are not a problem in games like Splatoon 2/3. In fact, I prefer playing Splatoon games with this controller over a Pro controller due to the ergonomics and smaller but not too small form factor/layout of the controller itself as its not cumbersome to use or.. wield? i guess if its motion you would be wielding the controller…. right? anyway its all good there.

Good Vibrations! rumble seems to be VASTLY improved since the old 2019 models. didn’t need to update a firmware to get a better rumble functionality! woop woop! still not sure if i need a firmware update or not, everything seemed to be working well out of the box, bar a little charging.

Battery Life is the same I don’t expect any changes there. 8-16 hrs of battery depending on rumble/motion usage. Battery light doesn’t seem to turn off even when its been left plugged in. I’m not sure if mine is just buggy but the old 2019 version had the orange light go off when finished charging.

Overall I’m happy that I upgraded from an older model, but I do really miss the Classic SNES purple button option It makes no sense to me why they ditched that for this controller but keep that on other controllers. I still have my old one but both still give me exactly what I want out of a Classic Pro Controller. Thanks 8Bitdo, only kept at 4 stars because you took away my purple snes buttons.
