These controller straps are a big upgrade over the stock wrist lanyards, and I prefer them to the the silicone case type. They do have some minor shortcomings, but I’ll definitely be keeping them on my controllers.
It’s not immediately obvious from the listing how these work. Long story short, you take off the stock battery cover and slide out the wrist lanyard. You then slide in a loop where the lanyard went, and fit a replacement battery cover with a woven strap attached to it. Thread the strap through the loop, stick it to itself with the velcro, and off you go. Takes longer to read than it takes to do.
Some reviewers have commented on the textured surface of the replacement cover. They are correct in some ways – it doesn’t add much in the way of grip. It doesn’t need to, though – there’s a strap attaching the controller to your hand, so it’s not going anywhere. The pattern is mostly decorative, and I have no issue with it.
As other reviewers have noted, the replacement covers are not quite a perfect fit, nor are they a perfect colour match. However, they are very, very close. So close that it makes no difference in use, and it’s really not an issue – see my pictures.
The security of the strap more than makes up for the slightly iffy fit of the cover. I’ve tried a few different strap systems on my Quest 2 and my Quest 3, and I like these the best. The straps are very soft and slightly stretchy webbing, so they wrap snugly around your hand and move with it. I find the silicone ones can be quite stiff, and they force the controller into an unnatural position. These let you put the controller exactly where you want it, and it stays there. I can open my hand completely, and when I close it again, the controller is in exactly the right place. For setting up PCVR games, where you often need to type or change settings on-screen, this is mega-useful – you can do it without having to put the controller down, or leaving it dangling from your wrist.
Because the controller isn’t in a case or cover, it’s still exactly the same size as stock. I like this, as it means the buttons fall exactly where I’m used to them being. I have quite big hands, and I find the Quest 3’s controllers to be just right. However, if you prefer a ‘fatter’ grip, a silicone cover might be a better choice.
The only negative for me is that the wrist strap isn’t compatible with my pistol accessory – the loop on the bottom won’t go through hole in the grip intended for the lanyard. I’ll probably modify my pistol grip, as the strap is something I don’t want to do without. In the meantime, it takes seconds to swap from the strap back to the stock lanyard.
Highly recommended, I really like these.
I’ve tried a few different sets of controller grips for the quest 3 now and these are my favourite. They are super comfortable with no sharp edges. The velcro is a good length (not too short that you worry or too long that you keep catching it) and fixes securely.
The only issue is that the battery doors aren’t a perfect fit. Mine did fit with a little persuasion but they could definitely be better.
This issue aside I would still recommend them.

Those straps are the best alternative to the original active straps. They’re really comfortable to use, easy to adjust, and the build quality is good.
With those straps, I can fit my hand in the same way as I can with the original ones. Most of the knuckle straps are attached too low, but those are perfect.
As they cost a bit less than half of the originals, I would recommend them to anyone.
I wonder why Meta doesn’t supply controller grips like this with the Quest rather than the nearly useless wrist straps? It would make sense. These are so much more secure. They have adjustable straps that wrap around your hand as tightly as you want to make them. There will be no chance of getting absolutely immersed in a game and ending up throwing the controller across the room!!
The grips are easy to install, take off the original battery cover, replace it with the one with the new grip and you are good to go. What is also great is that no matter who uses the controller, be it a child or a man, the grips are easy to adjust, with no fuss, and no bother.
From the start I really like these grips.
They feel great and well built.
They go on my pro controllers very nicely.
The bands work well if you find a good position on your hands (this would vary per person) and adjust the bands to be snug but not tight.
If you tighten them it will pull the Silicon case away from the controller and you may have issues with the cameras.
Keeping them tight enough to not fall off and loose enough to not deform the case is kind of key.
If you have larger hands, like myself, this also is needed so your thumb can more easily reach the menu/quest buttons.
i found the best placement for me was with the strap directly on top of my knuckles with a slight bias toward the hands to make sure they wouldn’t slip off.
Other than that. They are nice
The APEXINNO VR Controller Grips are not just accessories; they are the secret sauce that takes the Meta Quest 3 experience to a whole new level. Trust me, the 5-star rating isn’t just a number—it’s a testament to the exceptional grip and high-quality feel these grips bring to the table.
Strapping these bad boys on feels like shaking hands with precision and control. It’s not just about playing; it’s about feeling the game. And the best part? The battery cover replacement. No more silicone cases that feel like an extra layer. It’s a seamless transition that adds a touch of elegance to the whole experience.
These grips aren’t just accessories; they’re the missing link that bridges the virtual and the real. It’s the kind of upgrade that transforms a gaming session into an adventure. APEXINNO, you’ve nailed it, giving us more than just controller grips — you’ve given us an immersive journey. Here’s to reaching new heights in the virtual realm!
After getting my Quest 3 I bought some grips, though of the variety that slides over the controllers. They were fine although I always had the feeling they made it slightly more difficult to reach the trigger button.
Along came these knuckle straps from APEXINNO and that issue is now gone (hurrah!). They arrived in a little clear plastic box with a metal clasp that replaces the wrist strap (I didn’t even realise that came out until these arrived) and the replacement battery cover with strap.
They were a little fiddly to get in initially as the cover didn’t seem to want to click into place as easily as the original cover, but with a little bit of extra effort they were in and flush. My hands are quite large and I had no problem getting a good fit and they are comfortable in use.
The colour doesn’t quite match the controllers but that may be intentional as they have a slightly reflective design, which can be seen in the store page images.
At the current price of 16.99 I would say they are bordering on expensive for what you actually get but that’s just my opinion and the same can probably be said for a lot of VR accessories. They are an improvement on my previous grips though so I’m not complaining.
The Meta Quest 3 controllers are a little different from some other VR/MR controllers as they are handled almost like the Wii controller of old only these are not square. This gives maximum freedom of movement, but does mean they can move around in your hand, and suddenly at a vital game point, the button isn’t where you expected it to be. This is because the trigger and grip buttons are easy to access at a wide degree of angles in your hand but the A/B, X/Y buttons are not. That is where this strap comes in. It can be used loosely to make sure that in your excitement, or fear you accidently launch the controller from your hand into grannie’s cup of tea. Or you can tighten the strap to keep the controller exactly where you want it to be. It is really easy to fit, you just remove the original battery cover, remove the original lanyard cord. Then replace the lanyard cord with the new controller buckle and place the new battery cover. I’ve just looked at what I have written and it makes it sound complex, but it is really not. Once done, store the original battery cover and lanyard somewhere safe (just in case you want to use them again). Then you are ready to go. Using most storage systems, it shouldn’t affect storing the controllers and actually might make it easier. Have fu
