Some deviced isnt working!
Easy installation two monitors gets connected with ease to my macbook pro with m3 pro chip, only one thing is that usb-c doesnt get connected to magsafe charger for Iphone.
This works for 2 monitors - showing different things and with laptop closed.
I bought this primarily to connect my two Dell monitors to my Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop with Windows 10. Dell’s product had a 1 month wait. I now have a WFH setup equal to my office one. This was plug and play, very easy and no issues. I adjusted the display setting in Windows 10. So the laptop can be closed, Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and 2 monitors acting as a single large screen connected to this, which connects to the thunderbolt3 on the laptop – I can move windows seamlessly across both monitors. For office work, there is no lag or such issue and I get the additional ports. Apparently it also charges but I had the laptop plugged in already. Does exactly what I wanted it to do with zero setup. Build: looks like a decent piece of kit.
4k dock with amazing options
First of all, it’s made from Belkin, a very known company!
It’s well made, not too heavy, but it looks heavy inside the box, but we have to blame all the cables inside for that.
Compatible with macOs or Windows, can connect many devices, like two monitors,
And it can charge your laptop while you use it away from home, while you use it!!
With 40 Gbps, support for 4k at 60Hz, it’s an amazing offer for professional usage.
It also has included a thunderbolt cable, with 2.6 length.
Finally, I find the SD card very useful, because it transfers data up to 312 mg/s, being faster then USH-I!
It’s expensive, but it’s also high quality and something any professional should have!
Pricy but does an unusual job well
Belkin’s stuff normally comes in their branded white and green packaging while this Thunderbolt 3 Dock Plus arrives in a simple compact plain brown cardboard box.
Open the lid of the box and you’re presented with the dock, which is a fairly featureless black plastic box measuring 165mm wide, 31mm tall when it’s sitting on the four little rubber feet on its base, and 78mm deep. It has its name and the Belkin logo printed tastefully on top, and the plastics are rendered in a variety of surface finishes which give it a feeling of quality.
Then we get to connectivity which is what this dock is all about – on the front is a Thunderbolt 3 socket, headphone socket and a single USB 3.1 Generation 2 socket. I do wish there were more USB sockets right here on the front of the dock, but hey ho, I’ll need to find these elsewhere.
On the back is a gigabit ethernet socket, then four USB 3.1 sockets, two in type A format, two type C. After this you have your two big displayport sockets and finally the power-in socket which needs a 20V supply.
So that’s the top of the box, but why is it so big? It’s when you open the next layer that things start to unwind a bit – you have a power supply with captive cable that runs to the dock – this power supply is almost as big as the dock itself and is bigger than the power supply that came with my laptop. You get two power cables to connect the mains to the power supply, one for the UK market and one for Europe that goes straight in the recycling as waste.
Finally you get a 48cm Displayport 3 cable – the product title says 2.6ft which it quite definitely isn’t. At a foot and a half you really have to consider where you position this dock in relation to your screen. I guess you could just go and buy the cable length you require but at such a hefty price for this dock you’d think Belkin might bundle in a few more cables to make your life easier.
I can’t flaw this dock in use, it gives a bunch of connectivity that is really niche – I do wish there were more USB sockets on the front which would make it a more workmanlike tool, but I guess there are a handful round the back.
Great features, charging and plug and play
A great dock if you work on a laptop and want the ease of just plugging your laptop in and connecting speakers, screens, USB devices and network connectivity.
It uses USB C connection and if you have a modern laptop that has a USB C port that accepts power delivery it will also charge the laptop whilst its connected.
The dock has 2 display port connectors, 2 USB C ports and older USB A ports.
It also has a network port of 1Gbit speed.
I use this with Windows 10 on a HP Envy x360 and was plug and play and also charged the laptop.
It should also work on Macs as well not sure if it will charge or if it is plug and play for Macs.
Belkin Thunderbol
Overall, the design is nice and well suited to recently produced MacBooks, although I would have preferred a completely matte finish, without glossy plastic parts subject to fingerprints and scratches. Overall performance is satisfactory.
Bear in mind, for similar performances, you can easily find Thunderbolt which are cheaper than this.
Great Transfer speeds
Delivered by Parcel Force in a quite heavy box .
This Belkin Thunderbolt 3 dock plus is just what my son needed , he’s running his own business and frequently complains about having to move all of his computer equipment wiring etc between his office and home .
Inside the box contained everything he needed to use on both his work Mac and home Windows PCs .
Included a 2.6ft Thunderbolt 3 Cable , the unit has its own power cord , 3 USB-A 3.1 ports , 3 USB C.3.1 ports 2 display ports a 3.5mm audio in/ out port and 1 Gigabit Ethernet port .
It supports Dual 4K s teens and has upload speeds of up to 60W… I’m not going to pretend I understand any of the technical jargon , because I don’t ! All I know is my son is able to transfer and update multiple screens at the same time ,and use his USB keyboard and mouse with no problems.
Personally I don’t think that it’s particularly good value for money at 235 , however as I’m not the one using it I am basing this rating on my Son’s impressions .
It’s a weighty good quality unit that works and that’s all you need to say mum .
Nice, at a price
Found this very easy you use on a Windows 10 HP ELitebook, one click to accept the Thunderbolt connection and everything work as expected.
I tried on older laptop and the USB ports worked, of course no charging or video.
A few points to note –
The power ‘brick’ is huge, but has a ‘clover leaf’ mains plug so it’s an easy swap for most laptop power supplies.
There no ‘on’ LED to indicate it’s powered up
Shame there’s not an HDMI as well as the two DisplayPorts
The unit is very light and slides about once heavy video cables are connected
All in all, if you need this then you get top performance and a reputable brand name
Hugely impressive piece of ki
These days, you can never have enough ports. With a dongle or two in place, I would have to disconnect one peripheral in order to connect another.
That’s no longer a problem with this little beauty!
Firstly, setup is straightforward plug and go on my Windows 10 gaming laptop.
Mouse, external drive, Blu Ray player can all be corrected with ease. But, best of all, for the ultimate gaming experience, connecting to a 4K UHD TV with negligible lag is simplicity itself.
So far, I’ve only scratched the surface of what this hub can do – the instruction leaflet is minimalist to say the least, but there’s loads of information out there to give you some ideas about experimenting with connectivity.
Only criticism is that the hub itself doesn’t come cheap and the one USB C lead supplied is annoyingly short. It is also powered by a fairly chunky transformer, which does add to the clutter on your desk. The plus side of this though is that the upstream charging facility will keep your laptop battery topped up, without the need to plug in a separate charger.
Thunderbolt 3 is the future of connectivity and I am delighted to be able to give this a try.
If you don’t baulk at the price, this cutting edge device is very highly recommended!
