High capacity powerbank
Seems well made, charges relatively quickly, has a reasonably high capacity, displays the current charge level accurately and was available at a VERY reasonable price (just over 15) on a Prime deal. My only small criticism would be the lack of a case, but given all the other positives/price I would absolutely RECOMMEND.
Unfortunate - But updated review!
Sadly I have to give this item 1 star, out of the box charged it to 100% and used it for a week perfectly fine. Very happy. Recharged it back to 100% and ever since it rarely works, the side button has no affect, and plugging in a device no longer activates a charge. On the very odd occasion it will spring back to life then nothing again. I have contacted the seller but had no response. Very disappointing as the device was perfect for the first week. Update!! The company has refunded me in full and I have purchased a replacement item and I have to say they have dealt with the matter perfectly.
holds it's charge
The best thing about this charger is that it holds it’s charge well with no noticeable discharge when not in use.
I fully charged this power bank before leaving the UK and it has lasted five days before depletion. Over the five days this power bank has been charging two high end smart phones, a tablet and an electric lighter. It is currently being recharged from a solar power bank so the solar product is being charged by the strong African sunshine whilst also charging this power bank back to it’s full capacity.
As thos roduct has a high storage capacity it performs very well and it is reliable so it’s excellent for travelling with.
There are similar products available that have larger capacity but the 23,800mAh that this one holds is more than adequate as there are many, many products of only 10,000mAh with little difference in price this this is good value. Should you be seriously considering a new power bank I can recommend this one as it is well built to a good quality standard, it is strong, has a high capacity and delivers good value.
This portable battery is an ideal size: it’s about as large a capacity as you can take on to an aeroplane, but physically is a nice size and a shape that would slip into a pocket or bag very nicely. It has a reassuring (but not back breaking) weight, it feels solid and well constructed.
The Charmast displays battery charge as a percentage which is much better than the 3-4 little winking lights many other batteries have. The display is located under the surface of the battery case, which is cool. It also has a little green symbol which lights up when quick charge is engaged.
The battery uses USB-C for fast charging up. It has two charging USB-A outputs and one quicker charge USB-A socket (colour coded for easy of recognition). You can also quick charge a device via the USB-C socket.
This means you can a total of four devices on charge at once! If you charge multiple items you lose the ability to quick charge, but this is a reasonable tradeoff for being able to charge four devices at once (I’m doing this now with a phone, a tablet, a digital camera and a pair of headphones, and it’s working flawlessly).
There are safety circuits to prevent overheating (the battery did not appear to warm up noticeably while working) and also turns off charging when you devices are full.
Battery life seems to be about right for the stated capacity, but I will wait to see how it beds in over repeated cycles.
All in all this a a fabulous piece of kit for a very reasonable price, especially when its on offer via Amazon. Recommended!
Very fast charger, PD via USB C, charges my phone at 3500 mA, 10x faster than my old power bank
Fed up with my old power banks charging my devices really slowly, I decided there must by now be reasonably priced high capacity units that support modern fast charging protocols. And there are. This unit is brilliant. Make sure you use a cable that goes from the USB C outlet directly to your phone for maximum performance, ie USB C to USB C or USB C to Lightning, as appropriate.
Bought this on a deal for £1. Worth 20 times that at least.
Bought this product on a deal way over a year ago now. The device is still used daily and functions perfectly well. My only criticism is actually of myself and that *I* have broken the USB-C port, so I have to charge it via the slower ports.
The Red ports output such a high wattage that I am able to power my laptop or steam deck off it effortlessly. Both of these were even better in the USB-C port (again, before I broke it).
I have reviewed this product so long after receiving it simply to say that it is still working, still holds FANTASTIC charge and is a bonus to my life. When it finally bites the dust I’ll have no issue buying the same product again.
I’ve had one of these Charmast power banks for a while. I needed another powerbank, so bought this again – it’s reliable, it charges my OnePlus 7 Pro phone, and it charges my Cycliq Fly phone cameras. If I use it with a suitable charger and cable, it charges very quickly. I like the percentage charge remaining display.
12v (18w @ 12v x 1.5a) DC power happily works as promised - but via third party PD USB C cable. 5*.
This was a successful purchase and I’m pleased with it.
I bought it to power on the move, a portable DIY air purifier built from PC fans and HVAC filters. It works at the required 12v DC power level to make the fans work at proper speed (5v – the standard rate from the old style USB ports is too puny) provided that one uses a so-called ‘PD’- (aka ‘Power Delivery’) capable USB cable to connect to the USB C side-port on this power bank. I also needed to use a PD-capable ‘coupler’ (‘female to female’) because at the moment the main USB C to PC fan adapters have a male output.
Unfortunately the supplied USB 3 to USB C cable did not provide power at 12v but only 5v from the power bank. But still five stars because I was expecting that, and the power bank does in fact offer 12v DC (albeit via a small needed extra add-on).
It is good to not have to buy one of the more common 65w or 100w power banks in order to enjoy 12v – those cost more and are overkill for my purpose.
If you’re not sure whether your PC fan is operating at 5v or 12v when connected to this, the test is as follows: 1) is it virtually inaudible, and the wind from it barely detectible? It’s 5v. 2) Is it making, comparatibely, a bit of a (miniature) racket and a noticeable strong stream of air? It’s at 12v. This told me that some of my cables are not PD and some are.
Big heavy battery
Although it’s a bit of a chunky monkey, it is a great practical help, the charge lasts a long time, and it doesn’t take that long to charge up — I like the percentage given to you so you know exactly what you have left and how long to charge fully — see photos.
It is heavy and large, but if you’re out all day or on a long trip and you’re constantly running down the charge on your electronics it’s worth it, and a good interface for mobiles, etc.
Yes, it met my expectations and although it was heavier than I imagined it’s still a good bit of kit. I would recommend the product.
I absolutely love this.
My son had the new Meta Quest 3 Headset for Christmas and as fun as it is, the battery life is utterly shocking! Less than 2 hours play which may seem fine but once you’re immersed or others are taking turns it really isn’t that long.
I didn’t fancy the idea of a headstrap with battery being attached to my son’s head so looked into external battery options.
I brought this for the purpose of keeping my son’s headset charged, and it does the job fabulously! He got 3 and a half hours play and the headset was still 100% and the power bank had only reduced by 22%, so it also keeps the headset charged. It gets strapped to him via a running waist pouch and the wire threaded through his clothes so it doesn’t get in the way, and he doesn’t even realise it is there.
So pleased I went with this idea as it does the job way better than I expected, and it also means the power bank can be used for different things if needed. It is really powerful and not as heavy as expected. Purchased with 30% off too. I’ve actually brought another for portable usage as I’m so impressed with it.
Highly recommended
Does what it says. Good for Quest 3.
I got this to keep my Quest3 charged whilst playing. At first I thought it wasn’t working for it. But I had used the wrong output connection for it and it does it perfect at keeping the headset charged. But it has a little bit of weight, though I can have it in my back pocket, still do active gaming without it being invasive to me, might not for others though.
Couldn’t say how much extra time you will get with it, depends on what you play. I do some active and some relaxation apps. Get around 4 hours from it, but have me at really timed it.

Great for (modern) Portable Synths!
Bought this to power some portable synth gear, so if you have something similar in mind hopefully this review will be of use to you. I bought mine for personal use around the home and garden and not for gigging, so bear that in mind.
I tested with a Roland SP-404 Mk2 which requires a USB C-C connection and will not work with USB A-C (this is a design feature of the SP). It worked really well and an hour or more of use used less than 10% from a full charge. I also tried it with the SP + TB-03 and TR-06 and all three worked together.
It turns out it is much less hassle to use AAs in the TR-06 and TB-03 so I tend to do that now. The SP-404 takes AAs but they don’t last all that long and the Charmast is easier for me. The SP and a Keystep 37 also work well on the Charmast power bank. I did find that one of the units might power off when another was first connected but once all are connected and powered on the power was stable.
I tried a much older Alesis QX25 midi keyboard that worked off USB power fine but would not work with the Charmast. It would power on and work fine for a minute then I think the Charmast auto-powered it off, even if it was being used. I turned off the USB midi transmit in case that was confusing the Charmast but it made no difference. I also tried it with two other power banks and the same thing happened so it was not just the Charmast.
Size and weight wise it is about the same size as my iphone 12 but a bit thicker and heavier.
Overall very pleased with this.
