Decent webcam
This webcam gives a pretty good picture, definitely one of the better ones that I’ve seen. I tried it in various lighting conditions and it did a good job overall. It works very well indeed in low light, with minimal image noise even in near darkness – it’s also able to pick out details in those sort of conditions too, unlike many other webcams. In very bright scenes the device does sometimes “blow out” the brightest areas but it’s not bad. The autofocus worked well in all lighting conditions, and the image was very crisp.
Sound is… reasonable enough, it’s usable certainly, but if you have a good mic already then I’d use that.
The webcam has various mounting options – there’s a small clip/angle stand built in, you can sit it on your desk with this, or attach it to the top of your monitor or laptop. On the underside of this stand there’s a standard camera screw mount, so you can attach it to a proper tripod or other type of stand with that mount. The webcam can also be rotated and tilted.
Also included the box are an instruction manual, USB-A to USB-C adapter, a rubber stick-on privacy cover for the webcam, and a small tripod, which you can attach to the webcam via the aforementioned screw mount. As this tripod uses the standard mount it will also hold a camera, but it’s not very heavy and tips over fairly easily, so I wouldn’t put any big cameras on it.
Overall, I’m quite impressed with the webcam, and it’s now replaced my old 1920×1080 one at the top of my monitor.
Fantastic!
This Webcam has truly exceeded my expectations in terms of both performance and quality. From crisp, high-resolution video to clear, noise-cancelled audio, this webcam has elevated my video conferencing and streaming experiences to new heights.
The sensor ensures stunning clarity and detail in every frame, making me feel as though I’m right there in person during virtual meetings and online gatherings. The auto focus and auto light correction features further enhance the video quality, ensuring that I always look my best, regardless of the lighting conditions.
One of the standout features of this webcam is its dual noise-canceling microphones, which deliver crystal-clear audio without any background noise or distortion. Whether I’m participating in a business call or catching up with friends and family, I can always rely on this to deliver exceptional sound quality.
Additionally, the webcam is incredibly easy to set up and use, with seamless compatibility with popular video conferencing platforms like Skype, Zoom, and Facetime. Whether I’m using a PC or Macbook it performs flawlessly every time.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this product. It has truly transformed my video communication experiences, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a high-quality webcam for work, school, or leisure.
Nice webcam, not perfec
This webcam has a good quality picture with great resolution. The auto-focus is acceptable – don’t expect macro shots, that’s not what this is designed for. Installation on Windows 11 was fine after a reboot.
Sound quality is slightly disappointing for dual microphone, but again acceptable. It does come with a little tripod which is a nice touch, although I had no need for it. There is also a usb-c to usb-a convertor.
Overall it’s a decent webcam if you can get it at a good price. It’s not going to absolutely blow you away but it’ll do the job.
At the time of this review it is -34% off (45.99) with a 10% voucher bringing it to around 41. At this price I think its reasonable, although at the original price I’d be looking at alternatives.

Wider angle lens beneficial
Using this 4K webcam for video calls provided a significant upgrade in image quality. The clarity and detail were remarkable, improving my virtual communication. The noise-canceling microphones ensured that my voice was clear, even in noisy environments. Automatic light adjustment was a standout feature, optimizing visibility regardless of the setting. This webcam enhanced my video calls immensely, though a wider angle lens would broaden its applicability.
No complaints
Whilst my laptops all have perfectly OK webcams, my desktop had one from about 10 years ago at a low resolution, so was pleased to swap it out with this. I work in a quite dimly lit room, but have had no complaints from people on my zoom, Teams, and google hang-outs calls which are the main three I seem to live on. Microphone also is reported as fine by people at the other end. I have a very standard use-case so don’t need to push it – I am reviewing a free trial device – would I recommend it? Depends on price – at time of writing the full RRP is a stretch, however it is currently 30% off that which seems a much fairer price for what you get, and at that, I think I would.
Good sound and Colours
This camera is clear
More colourful than standard mac camera
With great sound quality
Litteral plug and play with MAC OS is also nice, just plug in usb and when using a video call app or service select camera from options.
I have added a video with low light to show how efficient it is.
Reasonable quality but at a high price
I got this 4K webcam mainly for family video calls so I didn’t have to use my phone for them. The video and sound quality are mostly good, however I have noticed that it can struggle a little bit with focusing, especially when holding things closer to the lens. It can also be a little grainy in low light.
For the price point you would expect it to have a built in lens cover, however this is a separate cheap bit of plastic with a sticky backing that you have to apply yourself.
The camera itself is quite large compared to other models however it does come with its own tripod so you can choose to mount it on your monitor or on the tripod which is a nice touch.
Overall the quality is good and I’ve not had any complaints from people on video calls regarding the quality. I do however think that it should be priced a little bit lower personally.
Stunning Picture Quality
This is the second Depstech Webcam I’ve owned. The quality of the image is fantastic and can be used as a camera around your desktop. The quality of the video for streaming is excellent too. What I didn’t realise with this particular one is that it came with a tripod as well as a range of other accessories including a handy USB to usb C converter.
The microphone is very good and I’ve used it for parents meeting as I’m a teacher and never had any issues with them.
At this price you’re basically getting a auto focus, 4K camera which also happens to be a brilliant webcam.
The cable is nice and long too which is something that I’ve found is an issue with other webcams in the past.
Highly recommended.
Good features, quite large and a question on value
Working a lot from home means a lot of video meetings, so a good camera with a good mic are important unless you want to use a headset. I’ve been meaning to replace my Microsoft HD camera for a while as it suffers when the sunlight comes into the window from the side of the screen. So I took the opportunity to test out this 4k camera.
First impressions are good. The camera is noticeably sharper than the HD version, understandably, and is far more accurate in the colour output than its predecessor too. Sound is also good, with people commenting on the clarity from their end.
The ability to use a camera/hotshoe type mount for a normal tripod is clever and the provision of a mini-tripod allows you flexibility in placement of the camera, other than just on top of the screen.
On the flip side the camera has a large form factor and mounting it ontop of the screen can leave it prone to being knocked off easier than my much smaller MS camera.
Not sure why there is a piece of plastic with some 3M sticky tape on it supplied separately that mimics a lens cover that you have to apply separately. Surely as this price it should be either designed in or fitted for you.
And that brings it round nicely to the price. For what effectively is a low-cost item there are a lot of equally specced webcams from equally low cost suppliers at seemingly better prices, so it would be prudent to ‘go compare’.
Good For Family Group Chats But 4K Quality Is Slightly Lacking
I ordered this because I have a sister who lives in New Zealand and I needed a new camera after my old one got too old and stopped functioning properly. This seemed like a good option and it is, I’m happy with it overall even if I do have a few gripes.
The pros: The webcam boasts some appealing upgrades over my old camera. The 4K resolution offers noticeably sharper details, the dual microphones pick up my voice clearly, and the autofocus (while not necessarily the fastest) works reliably and without issue. The included mini tripod, USB-C adapter, and lens cover are thoughtful additions, as is the webcam’s decent auto-exposure.
However, there are a few downsides. Installing the lens cover manually feels like an unnecessary step, and the built-in cable prevents me from choosing a more suitable length or from moving it around as much as I might want to. Most importantly, though marketed as 4K, the true image quality at maximum resolution is a bit noisy, likely due to the sensor size.
If you’re looking for a solid webcam to enhance your video calls, this delivers decent picture and sound quality. It’s great for conferencing or basic YouTube videos. However, don’t expect true 4K performance for product reviews or anything needing close-up focus. Most people probably won’t even care about that or even use it for close up stuff so it might be a moot point but it’s something to keep in mind if your purposes are moving beyond skype and teams etc.
Overall good and very happy with it. It’s suits my purposes well enough.
tons of resolution (lots of detail), good auto-exposure, good mics. Hard-wired cable, a bit pricey
PROS
-4K is a lot of resolution for a webcam, there is much more detail than my older 1080p webcam (which is only 1/4 the resolution of this new one)
-dual microphones, I’m told I sound pretty good
-auto-focus moves as a decent rate (e.g. if I’m showing something close-ish to the camera, and then take that away, it refocusses at an acceptable speed on my face, about 3 seconds)
-includes some (low-end) accessories: mini tripod, USB-A to USB-C adaptor, lens cover
-pretty good auto exposure settings (certainly superior to my previous webcam)
CONS
-have to manually install camera lens cover (why not do this at the factory, especially as it is touted as a feature in one of the product photos?? An odd decision)
-built-in cable: it would have been nice to be able to remove the cable, so I could use one of my own that would be of a more suitable length
-autofocus hunts sometimes
-at 69.99 (and a 25% voucher), I consider this a bit pricey
NOTES
-doesn’t focus close enough to show products during e.g. vlog product review. This is best used as a video conferencing webcam (which is as it is described, I was just hoping it’d focus a bit closer)
MY STAR RATINGS:
1* substandard, mostly cons
2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros
3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros
4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons
5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros
Much better than expected
Really quite surprised how good this cam is for the money, easily compares to more expensive brands, plug and play, so easy to set up.
I cannot comment on audio quality as i use a different audio source.
Nice camera - dreadful sound
The camera is very, very good – sharp high resolution image and I’m not always thinking I need to turn the light on to make my Teams image a bit brighter. No problems at all with drivers even on Windows 7 machine. However, built in microphones are terrible – sound is very muffled and not really usable. Also I had foolishly assumed that since it boasted dual microphones it would be stereo: it isn’t. Finally paired it with a 13 pound condenser mic from a well known auction site to get an excellent tele-conferencing set-up.
