Very well made
I wondered how tight or loose the handle might be due to its folding mechanism, but it’s rock solid. It may not remain so over years of use, of course, but I can always glue it and lock it into the open position if it ever becomes a problem.
I always through they put the handles on the wrong end of saws, making them harder to use than they should be, but the Japanese got it right: these are much more civilised, and having a thinner blade means you remove less material, which reduces the work and loss of length of the wooden pieces you’re working with. My other saws are now enjoying their retirement.
The two cutting edges are different: one only cuts when pulling, while the other cuts more strongly on the pull than the push. Be very careful when cleaning the blade as those spikes are sharper than the ordinary saws you may be familiar with.
Brilliant saw
For the price, I didn’t think it would be this good. It cuts very quickly, love the folding nature of it. Fairly solid when opened and locked. I don’t use it a lot, but it’s brilliant to have and doesn’t take much space.
GLORITY Hand Saw, 8 Inch Japanese Hard Folding Pruning Saw
I expected slightly better quality for something priced at 19.19(at time of review). I definately wouldnt of payed the rrp price of 29.99 thats for sure.
This Chinese made Japanese style saw looks really nice and is decent quality. I like that you could feasibly take it apart, or possibly even change the blade if you so wanted for example.
It was also well packaged, the box was stylish but there was no plush bag/pouch with mine, like other reviewers mention.
The blade teeth are very sharp, as you’d expect, great for pruning or sawing things on the smaller side. The blade size is small compared to the standard hand saws you get in the UK. For this reason I purchased the bigger blade size of 8 Inch. I think the 5 inch version would be too small to be practical or effective.
Overall, I think its a nice saw, and would make a great gift. I cant see it replacing your standard usual saw though.
When I saw this item I thought to myself that looks interesting it would be good to go with the rest of my Bushcraft / Wood working tools. It’s compact when folded but when opened it turns into this very useful well constructed and enginered tool.
I had a great opportunity to use it not long ago whilst making wooden reindeer, it was brilliant having a two sided saw of different cutting abilities of fine and course or one for dry wood and one for green wood. I found it so easy to use and due to its construction and flexibility of the blade it made it possible to actually cut in a curve.
Yes I’d definitely recommend! Well worth the money.
Not the best build quality
Got it for cheap so good idea keeps you and the blade protected however the poor quality means the blade doesnt line up when trying to close and can be a bit fiddly
This is a great piece of kit and works well for portable use. The handle isnt that comfortable and unclipping to fold away is currently tough. I am hoping with more use the mechanism will loosen a little but still be able to keep locked in place for use just be easier to unlock. Overall though very good.
