Does the job.
We use this USB hub for playing couch-multiplayer games with the family. We plug a mix of XBox 360 wired joysticks, an old airflo (joystick with built-in fans), and an XBox 360-style clone joystick into the hub. The hub is able to draw juuuuust enough power from the USB on the laptop in order to power all four joysticks right up until the person with the airflow turns on the fans, at which point the power draw becomes enough that the connection for the joysticks will start to “flicker”, which can quickly make the game unplayable. Unfortunately there is nothing on the hub to indicate it is having trouble with the power draw – a red LED flashing on the hub or a notification on the laptop screen would have been really helpful. Once we connected an external power supply via the USB-C plug on the hub everything started working again properly even with the fans on full blast.
As someone else noted, the USB-C can be used to power the hub without it being plugged into a computer as well, which makes it into a usable backup charger for phones, watches, tablets, etc… You cannot use the USB-C for any other purpose, it is solely for connecting an external power supply to the hub so it can handle more power-intensive devices being connected to it.
The USB-A cable is pretty long (the advertised length of 2 feet is pretty close) which is good for us (it gives the joysticks that little bit of extra reach) and means the hub isn’t restricted to the side of the computer that has a free USB port, but in close quarters the longer cable can be a bit of a pain. The cable length isn’t a pro or a con, it’s just something to be aware of depending on your use case.
I tried using the hub for transferring files and found that it was always slower than connecting the device directly to the PC. I certainly never says anything approaching the claimed 5 Gbps (which works out to somewhere in the 600 MBps range), the best transfer rate I saw was closer to 100 MBps (which is around 1 Gbps, or 1/5 of the claimed speed). Plugging the device directly into the computer would double that speed.
Overall this is a good-approaching-great device for expanding the number of USB devices you can connect to a computer, although you might want to plug USB drives directly into the computer unless you don’t mind a slower transfer speed (and to be honest, even 1 Gbps is plenty fast for my needs). There is no indicator that the power draw has exceed what the hub can provide via the USB-A plug, so if you find devices are dropping in and out of connection you might want to try plugging a USB-C cable into the hub to provide some extra power. In our experience it will power 4 joysticks no problem (unless one of those joysticks has a couple of super power-inefficient fans).
The price for $20 is about par for the course, but if you can get it on sale all the better.
Well built, light and compact, generous cable length for a USB hub.
At the time of this review, there is an available coupon for this hub and that makes it an even better bargain.
This little hub is well made, it comes with a generous cable length and provides an additional 4 USB 3.0 ports. There is also a power port if you need external power for one of the USB devices you choose to plug in. The power port is only for 5-volts. The hub doesn’t include another USB cable for power or a charging block to supply extra power.
The hub is made of an aluminum alloy material. It seems well made, its light and compact. My favorite feature about this hub is the generous length of the cable. It is about 24″ long so you have some wiggle room to place this hub in a convenient place on the desktop.
The USB 3.0 ports on this hub are all rated for speeds up to 5Gbps. No negative comments to make. It’s a great hub for a great hub.
Simply plug it in and it's ready to use.
I wanted this to be able to quickly connect other devices to my ancient laptop, and it did not disappoint.
I simply had to plug it in to the usb-a port, then connect my other usb-a devices and everything synced. Nothing to install, no instructions to follow, just go.
If that’s all you’re looking for, then this hub should serve your needs.
Note that it’s not for charging, or video playback. It’s basically an extension cord for 4 usb-a devices and 1 usb-c.
Bonus: It’s super tiny (fits in my back jeans pocket) so it’s very portable.
Great basic USB hub
The LETION 3.0 USB hub has a 2ft long cable that allows you to have the length to make a clearer desk space. There are four 5Gbps 3.0 USB A plugs and one USB C plug that is a power supply plug.
I am using it to plug the basic peripherals and it works great. I did not notice it needing extra power or running slow since they do not draw a lot of power. There is the USB C there to help provide extra power to the hub if it is needed. The C port is not for charging other devices or data transfer.
The hub is reverse compatible so it can be used for an older system which allows me to use it on my new laptop or on my old one when I need it. It comes very handy when I need to switch laptops. Instead of needing another set of keyboard or mouse I can just plug it in and it all connects.
The metal casing helps it dissipate any heat that might build up. I use it to prop up my old laptop to help keep the laptop from overheating and it has been a good temporary solution until my laptop cooler comes in.
The hub is small and lightweight so it is easy to carry around. I like that it is a USB A plug and not a USB C plug which is the new style for the hubs these days. The only thing this hub is lacking is an adapter to change the USB A to C if you need to use it on a system that might only have USB C ports.
The extra length on this multiport adapter gives it an edge over many of its peers which usually sport a much shorter cable (they both have their benefits, and its nice to have the choice). The price of this one makes it doubly attractive, as I've had some that have had a price tag three times what this one has. It's a handy item and easily worth the listing price.

Great for a computer with too few USB ports
On my computer, I need to have a USB for – among other things – microphones, mice, keyboards, dongles of all kinds, photo readers, and more. However my desktop only has its USB ports on the back and on the side; super annoying.
This has a long enough cable that it gets from the back of my PC to the front, with enough space left over for me to add occasionally used USB items without fumbling with the back of my desktop.
I love it, would buy again.
I tried out charging a few different devices, as I wanted this dock to supplement my growing need to keep devices powered up. It charged my garmin smartwatch with no problem. My two sets of wireless headphones also had no issues but there wasn’t enough juice to charge up my phone. It’s compact with good build quality, the connections all fit securely. The power supply cord for the dock is nice and long, which I appreciate. Overall this seems to be a good unit.

Finally, I can plug in all my USB devices to charge
I was so tired of unplugging my devices and rotating them in and out of a charging session, with this hub it makes my life a lot easier.
I plug my hub to one of the USB ports on my computer tower and the cable is long enough to sit on my desk, while I effortlessly plug in all my devices to charge. The Hub itself is very well made, small and takes up very little room wherever it sits.
It makes sense to have one place to go when looking for my devices rather than a search all over the house from outlet to outlet.
It has 4 USB ports on the hub, one of which is on the end making it very easy to connect to another hub to it if you need more then 4 ports for your devices. I’m using mine in the office with my PC but I can see a need for one of these at my tv as well so I can connect a strip of LED lights and my amazon firestick at the same time, as my tv which presently only offers one USB port.
Good Quality
I was looking for an extra USB hub to carry in my travel bag as I forgot my main one on my last trip. I saw this one and decided to give it a try. The build quality of this LENTION USB hub is very good with a durable aluminum outer shell. I have no worries about this breaking when I am traveling. The power cord on the one I received is 2 feet long. There are 4 USB 3.0 ports and one USB-C port for power in. This device also comes with a card clearly indicating how to get support as well as indicating there is a 12 month warranty.
I have been using this hub for a week now and have had no issues. I have tested with USB cameras and headsets and have had no issues with performance. There are also no problems with data transfer with USB thumb drives. I have also used it to charge sports watches, backup battery packs, cell phones, and tablets and have had no issue with using any of them (with the hub plugged into my laptop). I have at times used it with all 4 USB ports connected and the hub plugged into my laptop and again, I have not noticed any performance issues.
The USB-C ports is strictly for power in. I found that you could plug this into a power supply to power the hub which can then be used to power or charge other devices plugged into the USB 3.0 ports on the hub without plugging into your laptop.
Note that this device is on immediately when plugged into your laptop/desktop. This means that any devices plugged in are on as well. So for USB cameras, the camera is always on if plugged into this hub and the hub in connected to your computer. My other USB hub has a button at each port so I can turn off ports and leave the device plugged in. This prevents having to unplug the camera to turn it off. This isn’t a big deal and does not affect the performance of this hub at all.
Overall I am happy with this hub and would recommend it if you are looking for a good quality, durable USB hub.
A versatile hub that performs well, but USB C is for power input only
I mainly see USB C hubs these days, so I wanted to pick up a spare USB 3.0 hub while I could still find one. This Lention hub is very well made, with a durable aluminum outer shell and thick 2′ power cable that allows a range of placement options. The four USB ports work well (I found no difference in transfer speed between plugging a flash drive into the hub or directly into the laptop port) and offer plenty of space for peripherals.
I do have three nitpicks, though. I was initially excited by the USB C port, but it’s for power input only and can’t be used to charge devices or transfer data or video. Second, the USB connector is rather wobbly when plugged into my laptop ports. I haven’t noticed any problems yet, but I don’t like how loose it is. Last, and most important to me, most hubs have a power LED to let you know they’re connected, but this one doesn’t. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s disappointing.
Pros:
-Durable aluminum alloy case
-Four USB 3.0 ports with stable performance and solid transfer speeds
-Durable (though quite stiff) 2’power cable provides lots of options for placement
Cons:
-USB C is input-only (5V in), can’t charge devices or transfer data/video
-USB A connector is quite wobbly when plugged into my laptop
-No power LED
At $18.99, this hub is priced in the same range as most of its competition. It’s a solid little device, but I’d recommend doing a little comparison shopping if you want to find the best deal.
My rating: 4 stars
Some things may not work!
The USB splitter is of decent quality. It has a stainless steel finish to it and well I wouldn’t call a 2ft cable long, it is longer than the average. This lets me set up the USB splitter in the USB port on the front of my desktop and I can run the cord down the front of the fan casing on the outside. This is super important as leaving things on top of my computer would block fans, the bit of reach is nice.
I did have trouble with some things, about 80% of the things I plugged in worked just fine but a few things wouldn’t work. The biggest offender was my PC controller, it refused to work when plugged in the splitter with a USB cord but was fine when plugged in with it’s wireless adapter. I’m taking this as a warning that it doesn’t like power drawing items too much as my charger was probably attempting to connect and charge with the cord but can only connect with the adapter.
Despite the above fact, it’s still a great splitter, would be perfect in a laptop bag or for simple USB splitting on a desktop.
Great USB hub
My rating is not based on its claims but on how it performs and it does perform well. It handles peripherals, external storage devices (from external HDDs and SSDs as well as USB flash drives, I do not have any external M.2s to test), as well as a USB video capture card very well. I don’t have anything that needs charging off this port so I’m not sure about plugging in a power source for charging devices (I did try giving it the extra power via the USB-C connector but it made no difference to the performance of the devices I had plugged in).
I have a USB flash drive that, when plugged directly into the same port I test this hub on, gets a read/write of about 200MB/s but through this hub it gets half that at roughly 100MB/s. For my purposes this is still plenty of speed (most of my USB flash drives are old enough that they can barely clear 10MB/s and are unaffected in speed). The listing claims 5Gbps which I will note is not the same speed measurement I was just using, 5Gbps is (roughly) 600MB/s so it definitely wasn’t running at advertised speeds for me. Even with the power plugged in its transfer speed remained around 100MB/s (0.8Gbps). Again this is plenty fast for me I don’t often do large file transfers and it’s fast enough to run my USB video capture card off of.
(A quick note for those not in the know: In computing there are “bits” and there are “bytes”. Most consumer products use “bytes”. You never see “KB” anymore but that would be Kilobytes, then “MB” for Megabytes, “GB” for Gigabytes”, and “TB” for Terabytes. Typically the short form of “bits” (which increase on the same scale as bytes: kilo, mega, giga, tera, etc.) is with a smaller ‘b’ instead of the capitalized ‘b’ and sometimes written out as ‘bit’. For example: Mb or Mbit is Megabit. “Gbps” is then Gigabits per second while “GB/s” is Gigabytes per second. Usually storage/memory (such as data storage devices like hard drives, USB flash drives, and RAM) use “bytes” to convey how much information they can store, while most things measuring speed of data transfer use ‘bits’ as is seen in this listing. Your internet service provider likely also uses ‘bits’ to talk about how crazy fast their internet can go, for instance.)
The build quality is very solid but it should be noted that the cord isn’t quite two feet long, the cord itself is about two inches shy of two feet. I needed a longer cable than that, anyway, so with a 3.0 USB extension cable it works just as well as it does plugged directly into the computer. Two feet really isn’t very long, though, so this would be ideal for laptop or other set up where you’re very close to the computer you’re plugging this into. Make sure you measure what you need before purchasing, or commit to a good USB 3.0 extension cable to get whatever length you need.
Overall, though, I am quite pleased with this device. It works much better than my old one which for some reason could not handle data transfer from USB flash drives so I’m very happy to replace it with this one. Great device, doesn’t seem to get the advertised speed but unless you’re very on top of your tech most of your storage devices won’t be able to run at USB 3.0 speeds, anyway.
This USB 3.0 hub is compact and lightweight. It has a long cable so I can easily put it beside or behind my laptop computer. My Ultrabook laptop only has 2 USB 3 ports which in my case is not enough when I need to attach a USB stick, mouse and external hard drive to it. This compact USB hub solves the problem, it has four USB 3.0 and a USB C ports with 5Gbps data transfer speed. The hub is plug-and-play and power by my laptop, there is no software driver needed, just plug in a USB peripheral and Windows will recognize the plug-in device. This is a great add-on to my Ultrabook laptop. With the ultra compact and lightweight design, I can carry it in my small laptop bag without any issue. Great product with reasonable price.
