Does work with Windows 11
I don’t normally return to products I’ve bought on Amazon, but after buying this and having issues with Windows 11 recognising it, I thought I’d come back and see if others had experienced the same. Turns out they had and the issue was remarkably simple. Basically, when plugging it in, don’t use the USB cable that comes in the pack – use the second USB cable which is for some reason hidden in the base of the unit. If you use that cable in a rear USB port, it is recognised instantly. Other than that, it does what you’d expect it to, so recommended if you need one.

who'd of thought i would need this in 2023/2024!
Picked this up to burn my cd’s to a USB stick for the car journeys over christmas, and it did the job brilliantly! It’s very simple to use, plug and play straight away with a macbook and i had my music collection copied across in no time! It’s an occasional use tool for me, but every now and then i need it, and i’m thankful i picked it up!
Retractio
Some of my previous comments were inaccurate in that the cables had been supplied but were not clearly explained. It still doesn’t help when the address label covers the user’s instructions.
Subsequently, a method was found to use the reader and it now functions satisfactorily.
Cheap and cheerful
Works as expected, and great value for the price. The cable could do with being a bit longer but really not a problem as does what I need in an age where computer manufacturers deem it unnecessary to include cd drives.
Wire Aware
Practical, easy to use – make sure you have the appropriate app to use it with. Use the connector coiled away under it first rather than the separate one in the box. Will save you a lot of time.

Great little external drive which I am using on a new build that the case doesn’t have a front bay for a DVD drive for. Most importantly it works (plug n play) with Windows 11 and not all do that – in fact not many of the ‘budget friendly ones do’.
The addition of card readers built in is even better, especially if you need to make a ‘backup’ image of something (wink wink). Can’t fault it for the money.
Easily ordered, Easily set up
Ordered for my son living in UK. I live in US and this system made the process of delivery and order easily traceable and accountable. Never worried about being able to know what was happening with the order. Son reports equipment works well!
Bought to transfer old family videos kept on DVDs to computer. Using it on M2 MacBook Air. Worked flawlessly. Plug and play. Just note that there is a cable connected directly to the player which is tucked under the machine – if you use the separate micro USB cable it comes with then it will not work… When you run it for the first time it will ask you which region you wish to register. It took me around 10 minutes to move 2.5 hours of video to hard drive. Excellent!

Like the fact that this is very light. so that I can keep it with my laptop. I’ve been using it to download my CDs to my computer to create space where my racks of CDs used to be. I’m happy with the service it gives and pleased with suitability to my use. Great little gadge
No problems
I have lots of cd`s and dvd`s ,lots of computers don`t come with a drive so I had to buy one. The only downfall is the length of the cable I just sat mine on top of the computer for now.

Initially I couldn’t get my new Lenovo to recognise the device, tried both USB ports, then I tried the C port using the cable tucked underneath the DVD player and it worked straight away
No hassle external disc drive
I had to trash my old laptop which had a built in disc drive and bought a new one. My new one doesn’t have one built in, which I think is common now. However, I still wanted to be able to put my music CDs onto my computer. It was very easy for me, I just connected the drive to my laptop which recognised it instantly and it worked without any problems.
The company who sold the drive were very helpful, they sent information to me with suggestions of things to try should the drive not work for you right away. Thankfully I didn’t need them, but I thought that was extremely helpful of them, saves you struggling around for information to help you should you run into problems. Would recommend purchasing from this company .
It works
DVD p!ayer and recorder all in one. Bonus having the memory card and extra USB sockets. USB C speeds for the optical read and write were very good but the other USB sockets and memory card readers were not as fast as they could have been.
Something to copy our old DVDs to Compute
Second external drive we have bought, first was totally ineffetive, from a different company. This one seems to e doing the trick to copy old DVDs and CDs to computer, though unable to copy pre recorded CDs? Its slow but it works. As a very reasonable cost to purchase so couldnt expect total effectiveness. It works!! 🙂
This is a great value DVD drive, with the helpful adittion of USB drive and SD card readers. However, I have some old CD-R’s that it wasn’t able to read (nothing else has been able to either). This was the reason I bought it, hence only 4 stars.
This works well with my Mac and is proving to be very useful. It can use both USB3 and C connectors for very fast access to the disc and readers.
I purchased this to connect to my Dell micro PC so I could start transferring my CD collection onto my PC to play in the car etc.. It plugged in and worked straight away to a USB3 port. I did have some issues with it originally, causing my Windows 11 PC to not refresh Windows Explorer and it was caused by low power to the unit. The seller helpfully emailed out to purchasers that issues like this could be easily resolved by installing the secondary USB power connector to the device. The drive has 2 USB ports which i use for Keyboard and mouse plus a SD card reader which I’ve not used yet. Overall, good build quality and it seems to work with all CDs and the majority of DVD-R disks I have in my collection.
