Great cat feede
Our former street cat tends to scoff his food and barf it up. Putting his kibble in this has prevented that, and he enjoys playing with the feeder too. It’s easy to top up just by unscrewing the base (the little hole for this isn’t really much use) as long as you don’t overfill it – if you need to put more kibble in than the base allows then you’re overfeeding your cat.
Plastic is a bit brittle and can crack if you overtighten the base, that’s my only complaint.
Very good product.
Pros:
– good size, difficult to lose it
– can be opened/unscrewed into two halves which makes cleaning very easy and refills are easy too
– the bottom of the “egg” has a rubberized opening which allows cats to get tongues inside, so you can use wet food/tuna in it as well as dry kibbles, and they can lick it out
– top openings for can be adjusted to suit a range of treat/kibble sizes
– can set the openings to be closed, 1 open, 2 open or all 3 open
Cons:
– can be tricky to get the treads lined up properly to screw it closed. There’s a knack to it. Has to be exactly right or else it won’t screw together, or can screw together crookedly.
– bottom of egg is not weighted, so it just rolls on it’s side and the kibble comes out easily, so the cat doesn’t have to work as hard for It as they do with round treat balls. Would be good if it was weighted in the bottom so that it wobbles around but stands itself up again, like a jumping bean!
Overall great product, would recommend.
My cats love it!
My cats love it. I got two, one for each cat. At first they had no idea what it was but after a couple of times of us kicking it around for them they figured it out. I usually put the treats in in the morning and by the time I get back from work they’re all gone.
Holes too big
Regardless of how little of a gap I leave open, the contents just fly out. I’ve even been out shopping for different ‘kibble’ to put in, but that’s just making this purchase more expensive. Other than the holes being too big (IMO) it’s made well and a good idea in theory…
Recommended by my Ve
My cat isn’t one for toys but she does enjoy playing with this, especially when it’s got Dreamies inside, I gave it her on the easy setting and she got everything out within a minute! Now it’s on the hardest level and it keeps her busy. Would recommend this toy, especially for cats that are on their own for periods of time.
My cat can use and seems to enjoy "hunting" for her food
I bought this because my cat is a “guzzler” who eats all the food she is given very quickly, and always seems hungry. Slowing down her eating gives her brain more time to reguster how much she has eaten. And the puzzle adds an element of play to meal times. I got a much larger food puzzle later. They both work well. This unscrews in the middle. You put small cat biscuits inside. You have to get used to not dropping the biscuits out as you are loading them. Place on a flat floor – e.g. laminate or vynil. Then spill a few bics out of it with cat watching you. Then my cat will repeatedly roll the ball with her paw to extract the bics and eat. My cat still gets the biscuits quite quickly from this, though you can adjust the size of the holes the biscuits fall through. Every cat is different. I can only say this wirks for my cat.
Great idea, exercise and entertainment for my ca
Great idea, exercise and entertainment for my cat! I put his normal kitty biscuits in it rather than treats and it keeps him occupied whilst i am away at work all day!
Not difficul
Pleased with this, has plenty of space for treats. However my 3 month old kitten gets kibble out easily on the most difficult setting! So I’ve put it partly shut to make her work a bit harder. Looks like will last – I’ll update if it doesn’t!
It’s quite large, and even when the openings are closed most of the way, they still let out most of the treats. Dreamies just all fell out at once, bits of lunch meat did better.
I loved the idea of this, but the cat couldn’t have cared less about it. Luckily he’s not the one leaving reviews of his toys.
Transformative!
Update: 6 months later and we took little Guinneapie to the vets for her check up: she’s lost about a kilo! This is testament to the egg-cerziser’s success! Thank you!
Original review:
This has transformed my little fat black cat’s life and mine too! No more constant jumping onto the mantlepiece and knocking every breakable thing in her little fat furry paws’ reach. The Egg-Cersizer not only keeps her entertained but it also slows down her eating – though she is now (after several weeks) getting a bit too adept – I’m considering going onto the smallest setting but worried she won’t get anything out and that that nice vase of flowers on the mantelpiece will get it in the neck as a result…
Oh yes I can definitely recommend this toy
Oh yes I can definitely recommend this toy. Not a lot gets my girl moving as she is getting quite elderly. This toy has proved invaluable. She will only eat her dry food if it is put in the Egg-Cersizer!! I had a similar item a few years ago which didn’t float her boat but this one really makes her happy. She will always seek me out if the Egg-Cersizer is empty!! I would highly recommend this product. It is well-made and easy to fill.
Great as a dry food feede
I use this to feed my cat his dry food, on the smallest setting it takes around 15-30 mins (10-20 grams) if he eats it in one go. Took a few days for him to figure it out but once he got it it’s great. I also hide the ball somewhere so he has to “hunt” for it every day.
It would be better to have more smaller settings as three large ones is pretty useless. All in all very happy with the product.
Good quality
Unfortunately my cat wasn’t very interested in this! Which is a shame as she is so playful! But despite putting her favourite treats in, she sniffed it and trotted off. So it’s not for all cats but it’s a fun idea and good quality! My cat typically preferred the free cardboard box it came in!
i got this on a lightning deal, one of my cats just wants to eat all the time so i got this to slow him down, the holes are quite big, you can twist to top though to make the holes smaller, also you can select to have one two or all thee holes open at once. initially the cats just looked at it, so i played with them with the hole open wide so treats fell out easily, once they realized the treat were inside and could smell them through the little waft port at the bottom, they began to paw at it and push it around knocking the treats(dry cat food) out, once they were clued up i made only only one hole open so that the treats didn’t come out so easily, all of my 4 cats had a go and didn’t even manage to empty it after 20 minutes., In my opinion a great boredom breaker and sure to help slow down greedy cats. Maybe rub the ball around in some cat treats/dry food before giving to them so it doesn’t smell so much of funny plastic
Great distraction for anxious kitte
Fab toy, both cats love it (9 month old siblings). One of our cats was getting quite anxious when I left the house so I bought this to help entertain them whilst I’m out at work, we put half a dozen treats in it and have it on a fairly difficult setting as they worked it out quite quickly. I’ve had to buy two similar toys to ensure there’s no fighting!
Only negative is the plastic is quite thin and delicate at the point where it screws together. It hasn’t broken yet and is definitely worth buying at this price.

Perfect. The hole sizes can be changed to make it more challenging for the cat to get the food/treats out and to slow down the eating process. That said, mine gets bored, leaves the kibble in it and walks off in disgust if I dare to set the holes too small! Much better than one we got from the vet, which was virtually impossible even for the HUMAN to get the food out, let alone the cat! I’d certainly buy this again if it ever broke, very user friendly.
Got my cat moving a bit (not running, but moving). A bit apprehensive at first but got used to it eventually (scared of the noise and weight of it, didn’t quite understand the concept but got it eventually!). Does make a mess as your cat swirls it around chewing food as he goes, so bits of his Iams are always all over the carpet. A bit large too, could be smaller than this and still do a great job. I still use it though.
Great tool and good for my greedy cats always begging for food, why i bought it. It does the work better than the “circuit maze” i purchased a while back, I only have a complain, when my cats rolling it around the house it is noisy .If you don ‘t have carpet indoor or your house has no garden it can be ear-popping at times, but it is a sacrifice i am willing to make if it slows down their eating DEMANDS. A rug anyway could be a great aid to minimize the “commotion”. I am satisfied with this purchase.
