Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOur previous dog door was easy enough for the cats to get in- they are outside cats! It also let cold air in on windy days. With this unit, only the dogs use it and it prevents drafts. The only problem we have had is one dog lost her collar (the lawnmower found it) and we had to replace collar and the transponder. The dogs learned to use the door quickly. Living in the country, I was always worried about other critters such as possums or skunks getting in- not anymore.

We are still working on getting the dogs to use the door. This one was a second smartkey for our second dog. The smartkey works well, but the clicking sound from the door scares the dogs. We have left the smartkeys on their collars so they get used to the weight of it. After three weeks my husband noticed the bottom had fallen off one of the smartkeys. The dogs run all over the backyard and I figured it was a loss. Luckily we found it under the couch. Be sure that it is secured very well.

The unlocking us very loud. The sound really scares one of my two dogs. The battery that came with the door worked for two weeks. But with all that said , it does its job and the neighborhood cats cat not enter.

I love the sensor being on the collar so that my dog has access to the yard at all times. I no longer have to let him in and out. The sensor does not seem to bother him at all. You do need to know that you cannot have tags on the same ring as the sensor as it could keep it from working properly. At first I didn't like this but I put them on the other side of his collar and it is working.

Install was a little harder especially the set up of the collars I love the lock feature the most I haven’t quite figured the automatic settings out but the unlock mode itself is a huge upgrade compared to the door flap

    Quality
Not as good a quality as the originals that I first bought or came with the door. You have to be carful not to over tighten the battery or it will split the casing and the battery then falls out. For the money paid not the best quality especially when it on the collar of a miniature Schnauzer who loves to play rough and tumble with her brother.

I purchased this Smartkey for a new puppy that we got. This works really well to unlock the pet door. I like that it will only unlock for my dogs and not for my cat who we do not want to go outside unless we are with her. The only problem that we have noticed is that it is quite large for our little dog. I wish that they could make it smaller for smaller dogs so its not a huge plastic piece on her collar. She has gotten used to it but it seems to be a nuisance.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersWont open doors to Tomorrowland or the Superbowl...But really good at opening doors so your pets can relieve themselves
I attempted to use this key to get into Tomorrowland, it failed me greatly. So I then set my eyes on something more reasonable: getting into the Super Bowl. Also a fail. Turns out the smart key isn’t some kind of super key that unlocks all of your dreams, its actually a key you hang around your pets neck that allows them to go in and out of the Petsafe doggy door (sold separately). That it does exceptionally well.

While not getting into all of the exotic locales of my choice has been highly disappointing, seeing Crackers excitement every time he runs outside to pee leads me to believe that this key, while not the key to all of your dreams, may indeed be the key to unlocking all of your pet’s dreams.

Like this a lot. Small dogs drag it or bang it on the floor. It took a while for one of my dogs to get over the buzz noise, but all is well now. It keeps out feral cats who did a lot of damage to my home coming into the house through the old dog door looking for food. They used my living room set for a cat box for some reason. My own cat cannot get in and I doubt she would wear a collar or a fob, but she has learned to follow the dogs through and also has learned to knock on the back door, howbeit quietly.
