    Strong sturdy.
Perfect. Lots of strap adjustments. Very strong canvas and well mad. Onlyslight niggle is the straps that go over the head restraints dont have buckles so adjustment is by strap length which can be a little awkward to remove. No real critisism and very good quality. Better than any ive bought from other shops.

Great waterproof hammock seat cover. We love it. Our dog although seat belted used to fall off the seat onto the floor if we stopped suddenly. We don't have to worry about that any more. It also hold his little bed pad from falling with him on it. The park debris stays on the seat cover and not on the seats now too. Well worth the money. Good buy and well made. There is even a hole with a flap for the seat belt to go through.so we can keep our little guy safe and secure.

I really like it for a few reasons
I bought this dog hammock to protect the fabric seats of my brand-new car. I really like it for a few reasons. First, I feel like my dog is safer when he is in it since he cannot fall off the back seats if press the brakes a little too hard. I also don’t have to worry about him flying into the dashboard either (I’m not sure what the likelihood of that really is!). Most of all, the barrier behind the driver and passenger seats makes it hard for my dog to climb into the driver’s seat (it’s a little distracting when you’re driving with a 60lb lapdog). Secondly, I love the material of this cover. It is waterproof so it protects my seats from his slobber and muddy paws. It also catches a lot of his fur. It is unbelievably easy to wash as well. I added mild bleach to make sure it was really clean. I don’t think your supposed to, but it still looks the same. Third, my dog really likes it! This really is like a hammock for dogs. My dog falls asleep within a few minutes of starting the car when he is in it.
I didn’t really appreciate the hammock until this past week when I removed the hammock to wash it. My dog feel off the seats a couple of times in high traffic areas (Sorry Rusty!) and my car seats got mysterious doggy stains on them. The only drawback of this product is that it might not be good for very warm areas. I think the synthetic material traps in excess heat, so my dog lays on the floor mats until he can cool down on hot summer days. Apart from that, I recommend this product for all dog owners!

I had an earlier version of this for years, and kept it in my car year-round. Eventually the backing started flaking off and I purchased a less expensive version from another company -- big mistake! It was not a hammock, and my dog fell off the seat when I had to make a sudden stop. It did hot have the stay-put holders, and slid around on the seats, and worst of all, it ripped soon after I bought it. So I returned to the Solvit. I liked the earlier version slightly better than this one. It had grommets that let you adjust the straps better around the headrests. However, this one does the job well in my compact car, and it takes only seconds to install securely. I use the pockets for extra clean up bags. The hammock keeps my dog from sliding over the seat onto the floor, and the way it curls up, giving it a gate effect, keeps her from trying to climb into the front seat, which, since I drive a manual transmission, would be a significant safety hazard. In the hammock position I can hide things underneath as well. I did not notice any odor, and does the job keeping my tan super-shedder's fur off my black upholstery. I like the slits for seatbelts -- lets me attach a harness if desired. My 35 lb shepherd-mix is well behaved in the car, and I have not had any trouble with her lifting the cover, so I can't answer what would happen if she was more agressive in the car.

Wow, this has made a huge difference cleaning the truck out. Some have complained it isn't wide enough, we own a full size Ford truck and it works perfectly. After long walks in all kinds of weather, I never worry about the mud and particles collected in my Bouvier coat being transported into the truck and leather seats. Now, if it was designed to cover the windows when he decides to shake it would be even more perfect. Not practical or safe, but would save cleaning windows!

Both us and our large dog love this product - and a great price too. It fits our Toyota Rav4 (2010) very well and is easy to install and take off. Our dog was always trying to climb into the front seat so this has become very helpful for week-long road trips and she is very comfortable in it too. Much safer as well. Has proven to be very durable and protect the seats. Also excellent for when her paws are muddy.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersDoes the job. Rugged, but a bit slippery.
Needed something, in a bad way, to keep all the ungodly horror that falls off my beloved beast contained and off my seats and floorboards. I love him like a brother, but the stuff that falls from the corner of his maw would make a coroner gag.
So, really loving that hammock design! It keeps all of the hazmat in one place. The material seems bombproof, which is good considering what occasionally comes out of the other end.
Also, nice touch on the easily accessible and roomy storage pockets! Perfect place to carry a liter of lighter fluid in case he destroys the car so much that we need to burn it and find a new car.
The whole setup keeps it in place quite well. This is a smaller 4 door hatchback, so it does bunch a tad inward. But, it’s understandable, this is a one-size-fits-all kind of deal and most cars are bigger than this one.
The moderate gripe: The material, while strong, is bit slippy in the traction department. My guy has begrudgingly slid from one end of the back seat to the other on more than one occasion. I’ll have to find a fix for this.
The minor gripes: In order to make the seat belts accessible (which is understandably important), some filth may penetrate to the seats, and it is by no means waterproof. Just a heads up.
Also, the color. Beige with maroon straps? Come on guys. Ew.
All in all, it gets the job done. Seems to be good quality, and they’ve put some good thought into the details. More than most do, these days. Good job. Now, just make them in colors that aren’t reminiscent of the color scheme of the Golden Girls living room, and we’ll be square.

good price point for saving the back seat from a dirty dog.
It works and looks just like it does in the pictures.

It covers the full back seat with no overlap in a 2015 Subaru Forester. Its doesn’t cover the tops of the seats at all, so well behaved dogs or constant supervision (“get down!”) are required to maintain your headrests and tops of the seat-backs

I don’t know why there are pockets. They have metal snaps, which look like potential nervous dog snacks to me.

The material is a nice true khaki colored canvas. The edging looks like a warm leather. the backing of the material is waterproof (plastic-y coating — like a cheap tent from 1974).

There are slots in the material for seatbelt use (you can unhook the front seats and have a person sit on the hammock). So, its not truly a waterproof cover — we put a towel back there for the dirty dog to lay on so whatever mud ends up over the seatbelt holes doesn’t work its way under the cover. The dog also prefers the soft texture to this material.

It’s really easy to brush/sweep dry dirt off of this heavy canvas fabric. It is not a particularly absorbent material.

If you do unhook the front loops, note that the pockets will be upside down and by someone’s shins, so plan your pocket use accordingly.

The hammock design helps to discourage the dog from trying to climb up front, but it doesn’t stop it from happening, so this really is for well behaved or supervised dogs.

    Great Product - Good Price
This hammock replaced a previous one we had purchased from one of the large Pet supply stores. The Solvit Waterproof Hammock is just as good on almost all counts if not better.

It rains here quite a bit during the winter plus we take our dogs to the beach periodically so they’re often wet (and a bit sandy) when they get into our mid-sized SUV. The leather seats stay nice and dry and mostly free of sand (a bit slips through the seat belt openings). The hammock covers the back seat end-to-end and top-to-bottom nicely. The dogs can lie down easily and it keeps them from trying to get into the front seat well.

The previous hammock we had included a zipper to allow the dog to walk through to the front seat area. We never used it, the zipper constantly opened and there was no real way to secure it so that it wouldn’t open. The zipper finally gave out so it was time to find a replacement.

The Solvit Hammock cost less and the quality was just as good if not better. Plus…no zipper!

There were two slight downsides, and hence four stars.

    1. There was a tiny bit of chemical oder for a day or so but after it aired out it was fine.

    2. The previous hammock had plastic snap “buckles” (like the ones used on backpacks) on each of the four straps that go around the headrests. We liked that because it was easy to install and remove. The Solvit hammock’s straps have no buckles; only having adjusters. So when you slip them over each headrest you have to loosen them or tighten them to remove or install it. A little inconvenient, but not a deal breaker at all.

Our dogs are happy…and we’re happy!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNot Perfect but Better Than Vacuuming
I have a large lab x who sheds constantly. I was sick of vacuuming my back seat and decided to look for a seat cover for my car. After doing some research, I decided to go with this seat cover.

    PROS
    – Perfect size (I have used this in a Corolla and a Camry)
    – I love that it has holes for the seat belt.
    – Hammock covers the gap between the back and front seats so your dog isn’t falling around.
    – Great for muddy paws

    CONS
    – Despite the rollers to tuck into your seats, my dog still manages to move the cover around.
    – Fur still gets on the seats although drastically reduced.
    – Unsure of best method to clean.

For a shedding dog this is a good way to keep fur off majority of the back seat but you’ll still have fur floating around the car. It is a good product if you take your dog to the lake lots and don’t want a wed and/or muddy dog on your backseat. You’ll still want to seatbelt your pet in as it’s not hard for the dog to get over the seat cover and into the front if that’s the mission.

Edited May 2017: We’re still using this seat cover for our dogs and still enjoying it. Fur still gets around and it doesnt always stay put but it works better than blankets or having our dog right on the seat. I’ve put the hammock in the washing machine and it’s come out clean and fully intact.

    Good, but not great.
This seems to fit well and protect the leather seats in my 2013 Camry SE from scratches and other damage from my golden retriever, but that’s really about it.

I bought this because in my last car my dog poked holes in the leather with her fingernails (the seats were older and the leather was worn anyways, so it was brittle to begin with). When I upgraded to a new car, I wanted a solution that would protect the seats from similar damage. This covers the leather and stays in place thanks to four straps that you wrap around your headrests and two anchors that you push into the cracks of your backseats. In order for it to work, you MUST have headrests on both your front and back seats, and your back seat bench needs a fairly deep crack between the back and the bottom. It also has two small pockets, which are just the right size for a leash or a collapsible water bowl.

This covers the seats well, but it can be difficult to adjust well. I still haven’t been able to quite get it right. The straps are adjustable, but the distance between the straps on each edge are too small and it causes it to be loose between the two front seats. My dog tries to use this loose part to slip into the front seat. This loose part gets even worse when your front seats aren’t lined up perfectly well with each other, and your dog may try to jump onto your console if she gets the chance.

This brings me to another major problem: my dog absolutely HATES this thing. I think it doesn’t feel stable to her, especially since she can’t tell where the seats drop off and it hangs out over the air. She’s somehow managed to escape it a couple times and end up on the floorboard beneath it. She accomplishes this by crawling between the edge of the seat cover and the rear car door. If you have a smaller car or a bigger dog, this might be impossible for your dog. For my mid-size car and mid-size dog, the gap there is just too big to prevent her escape.

One other problem is that it’s designed for you to be able to still access and use the rear seat belts. This is a good idea, especially if you plan to pair it with a car harness for your dog. Unfortunately, it does so by having two holes in the seat cover, right where the back and bottom of your seat meet. In my car, it doesn’t actually line up very well with the seat belts, so it wrinkles and folds if you try. Moreover, it lets hair through to the seats; you may not notice this, but I’ve got a black interior and a blonde dog, and it makes me more than a little concerned that it would let water through as well. I wouldn’t trust this thing with a dripping-wet or muddy dog, though I wouldn’t worry if your dog is just damp.

Overall, I think this is a good product. It accomplishes what I needed it for, but it’ll take some getting used to for both you and your dog and it’s not always easy to work with. I’d recommend it for smaller cars and people who will pair it with car harnesses or pet barriers.

This thing is awesome. It is put in place in seconds and protects both the car and the dog from harm. If you take your dog to a dog park or areas that she can get muddy or wet- this is fantastic. Our dog loves it and so do I. I'd buy another one in a second. My wife has complimented me a few times on this purchase (and this isn't a frequent occurrence.

I bought 2 of these this knowing I would take one apart and use it to sew a cover for a piece of portable Precise 48" fencing to make a big dog proof barrier for my big dogs. Before I took it apart, I did try it in my SUV just to see how it worked. The straps are not sewn with the reinforcement that I would include -- but then, I am used to really big dogs and know that their weight can snap straps in a second. If you have big dogs, consider reinforcing this carefully BEFORE you use it. It would never withstand my 132 lb, 119 lb, and 64 lb dogs without my massive overhaul. On the plus side, however, the pockets are great and the first hammock worked perfectly to do what I intended -- cover a piece of portable fencing that then has added tie down straps and foam buffers (I used swim noodles that are completely covered now with the hammock) to ensure my big guys don't wander up front during our hiking trips. I use the pockets for their stuff and they so far have not figured out how to get in them (give them time, believe me, they will likely figure it out). The second hammock I did not take apart I reinforced with additional tie down straps and reinforcers (I used metal washers sewn by hand to the underside) to line part of the cargo bay when the seats are down. With my very extensive modifications, it is exactly what I was trying to accomplish and the color looks coordinated with the light tan interior of my vehicle and has the uniform professional appeal I wanted. So, overall, I give both hammocks four stars..

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWish I had purchased this soone
I bought a new Prius C last year and neglected to pick one of these up for my golden retriever who inevitably tags along with me almost everywhere. My seats paid the price and it was a pain to get them clean again. Finally decided to pick this up and it’s perfect! Installation was extremely simple. I thought it might be too big for my little car but it fits great. It was very easy to cinch the straps around the seats to shorten it up and the stay put devices that keep it flush against the back seat are fantastic. They haven’t popped out yet, so I have no worries of them slipping out while driving. After installation, the next hurdle was seeing if my spoiled baby would even sit on the thing. She jumped right in and laid down! Even my 8-year-old thought it was amazing and thinks we should have a camp out in the back seat?! The gap between the seats is completely covered and flush with the seat so there’s no dip for her to trip or fall into and it acts as a barrier to discourage (though probably not prevent!) her from climbing into my lap in the front seat.

I read some reviews where people stated they put the cover backwards so the seat belt slots are over the open space and not the seat to prevent dirt from getting in them. While I do wish they also sold a model without seat belt holes (when my golden is in the back seat, no one else sits back there so we don’t need access to the seat belts) I recommend not doing this. I flipped it over just to see and the holes were in such a place that if your furbaby stepped in the wrong place, their foot will go straight down in the hole. The holes are pretty large so I can see this happening all the time unless you have a pooch who lays down the entire time. Kinda defeats one of the purposes of having this at all.

To close, I tested it’s waterproof claim and poured a bit of bottled water on the seat. It definitely held and the seat was still dry underneath, though I expect some stuff to get through the seat belt holes. Given their size I think it’s inevitable. I might just stick a long beach towel along the seat to cover the area that the holes don’t. Overall, I think it’s a great product. Took one star simply because I think there should either be a model with no seat belt holes or a way to seal them shut on the current model. Even velcro would do the trick. I think I see a modification in my future!

Arrived quickly using Amazon Prime. I love this seat cover Solvit 62314 Waterproof Hammock Seat Cover for Pets , maybe the best accessory purchase I have made for my car!

My Car: Toyota Corolla tan interior (this seat cover matches very well)

USE – WHY I PURCHASED: I sometimes need a cover to protect seats from mud/dirt/grime when transporting items such as ice chest (that have dirty bottom), luggage, potted plants from nursery, kitty carrier, kids with damp or dirty clothes from playing at beach, football or playing outside.

SMELL?: I am fairy sensitive to plastic odors, so the first thing I did was smell it.
Honestly, it had NO strong or offensive smell or odor.

INSTALL: SUPER EASY it has some pockets, opening for seat belts and two plastic tubes to press between seat back and bench to keep it in place in the creases. It fits perfectly with slight tuck in at each side (perfect).

FABRIC: Fabric is similar to luggage canvas or backpack material with waterproof vinyl-like backing.

COLOR: Matches the Corolla tan color well. I think it will blend with my tan Honda’s* seats.

OVERALL: I would recommend this item and will purchase one for my other car*.
    Great price for the value.
Instruction sheet says: Machine washable, line dry. 1 year warranty.

NO smell here and very nice indeed!
Just to set the record straight, there is no horrible smell on the one we got. It did have a faint vinyl type of smell, but that disappeared in a day or so. I’m not sure what the problem is with the other reviews, but I didn’t have that issue.

Personally, I love ours! We had a cover that just covered the seat, but my husband packed it up somewhere when he went out of town on business, and we’ve never seen it again. I was thrilled to death though when I saw the prices here (my original one was much more expensive) for various covers as a replacement.

When we bought the other one (ages ago), it was because we had a HUGE shedding dog that loved riding in cars; may God rest his sweet soul. I liked that my tiny broom and dustpan , that I keep in the my vehicle, would quickly and easily sweep up the fur.

Now our other dog, is a polar opposite. She is a medium size average shedding dog, who hated to ride in the car. I don’t know what it was, but laying down for her was just not an option. She would only sit and constantly lose her balance looking miserable.

So this one was the perfect answer for us. I felt that I would no longer worry that she’ll slide right off that seat. To my delight, she loved the cover and evidently feels much more secure. Now she wants to go on car rides AND she even lays down! Go figure. I should have bought this ages ago!

This is still a good surface to just sweep out too. I wish my house and car were that easy to clean.

I have a SUV and I have it across the back seat. If another person will be sitting there, I fold the passenger side of the cover BACK UNDER the dog side of cover. The slots (for seat belts) match up that way and so it can still be used.

All in all, I’m very pleased and have absolutely NO complaints. I expect this to last a long time.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersVery Satisfied
I bought this seat cover back in February right after we got our new (new to us) Subaru. We have two very active and hairy dogs that destroyed our back seat in our old Grand Am. So i wanted something durable and waterproof to protect our immaculate seats in our new car.

I looked at a number of similar products before settling on this one. I was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews. Things such as the durability of the seat straps, as well as the smell that others were claiming. But after all my browsing i did settle on this product.

The reason for waiting so long to write the review is that i wanted to fully test this item out before i reviewed it. Thus far i am extremely happy with the performance of this seat cover. Both my dogs weigh in at just over 40 lbs each and the strap durability has not been an issue at all. My dogs tend to rest their heads on the little “hammock” the cover naturally forms between the front two seats, and never have the straps failed or frayed. I have not noticed any oder what so ever while using this product. be it in cold weather or warm weather, heat can bring out smells.

The waterproofness of the cover is more than satisfactory. my dogs are both long haired aussies and can accumulate plenty of liquids while on our ski journeys and playing in the river. Not a drip of water has touched my seats.

In all i am completely satisfied with this purchase. A few notes regarding fit and such. The width and length are perfect for a subaru outback. The straps fit around front and rear headrests. They don’t hold the entire length of both ends absolutely taunt, so you get a little sag at the upper corners, and hence a little seat exposure, but nothing bad at all. Also, i don’t use seat belts with my dogs, so the holes that the seat belts come through allowed dirt onto the seat. i remedied this by placing a beach towel the lent of the seat under these holes. The seatbelt holes are mentioned in product description, so just be aware of their placement.

    does what it's suppose to
his is a decent car seat cover, nothing fancy. It is waterproof which is good since my sister’s dog doesn’t handle heat well and we hose him off alot before going to the park to help him cool off. The anchors that you push in to the seat to help hold it in place are a good idea but don’t really work in our car whether b/c the seats are leather or b/c Henry is 6mos mastiff who weights 100lb and doesn’t believe in lying down which causes it to slid side to side. Also unlike the Deluxe seat cover by the same brand the straps that loop around the headrest are just loops and do not have clips that can be undone to make it easier to put around the headrest, we have a Ford Tarus that doesn’t have head rest in the back seat so we had trouble with it. Our car has child seat anchors behind the the seat so we had to tighten the straps so they were short and then put bunjee cords throught the anchors and attach them to the strap to hold up the back. This may also be part of the reason it moves so much. I do love the pockets, they come in handy for toys, treats, extra poop bags and his long line and leash.
All in all it isn’t bad and it was what I could afford at the time. I plan only using it for the summer and than switching to the self heating one for the winter and will decide whether to upgrade next year or just modify this one to make it better.

Okay – I’ve had this product for about a month now, and I must say I love it. I’m not sure why so many people say it has a toxic odor to it. The first thing I did when I took it from the box was smell it! I was sooo worried that it would stink so bad like everyone had said and that my dog might risk fainting in the back seat from the stench, but no … it had a slight ‘new’ smell to it, but that was about it. It surely wasn’t a horrid smell that would make me want to return it, and the smell is gone now. Another reviewer said it best by comparing it to a new backpack smell. Don’t let the negative reviews about the smell steer you from this product, as it really works like it says.

I also saw some reviews about people complaining that it couldn’t hold the weight from their larger breed dogs, which leads me to believe that they didn’t allow enough ‘slack’ and may have stretched the hammock too much, causing the straps (which are pretty durable) to break. The hammock isn’t meant to hold/suspend dogs, it’s meant to lay on your back seat and provide a cover, so just want to make sure that’s clarified.

I have a small 2 door coupe, and it fit perfectly in my car. It was very easy to put in (took less than 5 mins), and is very easy to manuever so that I can put one side of the hammock down to allow my dog to get in the back of the car (since there aren’t any back doors). She hops right in, and I can easily put the hooks back up so that the hammock captures all the hair from falling/flying on the backs of my seats/floors.

Another thing I like about it is the fact that you can use it as both a hammock, and as a regular bucket seat cover. I don’t see why anyone would spend their money on the bucket seat type, when this basically serves both purposes AND comes with pockets. It’s made of a very durable material, that prevents mud and dirt from seaping through and getting on your seats. It also prevents my dog from jumping up in the front seat which is a nice safety feature. Not a bad price either, beats changing out towels/blankets week after week when this one looks much nicer.

Overall, I recommend this product to anyone who loves to take their dog out and about with them, but hates to have a ‘hair storm’ while they drive.

**Updated April 2013: Still using this product. Hasn’t torn, still durable and still does the job.
