This was so easy to set up and it works like a dream. My old kitchen TV conked out recently and although I didn’t realise it, I used it a lot. I was lost without it.
After reading reviews, I chose this TV and I am so glad I did. It is a bargain.
It’s nice to be able to watch a programme while cooking or washing up etc.
Good quality picture and sound
I got the 12v 24″ version, which also can be powered from the mains, the picture quality and sound are quite good. It will be used mainly in a campervan but I tested it and tuned in the channels etc while at home. I would definitely recommend this for anyone with a camper or caravan.
Excellent small TV
The TV is light, good picture quality and the sound is good.
I was glad I read some of the other reviews first about creating a ROKU account before starting, you do need to have one to access the TV.
The annoying part for my mum (78) was that the home screen was a little fiddly, she wanted it to go straight to the sky box, a google search sorted that and you can set the power on mode to HDMI instead of the standard menu.
Easy to follow instructions and a very clear picture.
Easy to follow instructions and a very clear picture.
I loved everything about this TV. Easy to set up. Great picture clarity and a good sound. Very happy with my purchase and would easily recommend to others.
An amazing smart TV.
It’s such a good TV. My apartment has it when I was on holiday so I came back and bought the exact same one. It works so well, menus and all apps are super fast. The TV is light as a feather too which surprised me. I 100% whole heartedly recommend this TV. It brillia
Tv review
TV is okay but the screen is broken now. If you have policies to help us get a new one for a price and take this one back I will appreciate it. Thanks
This set works with Sky
This is a fantastic set, once the Sky engineer sorted it out for Sky, we now have a TV that we can enjoy, and with the wife having dementia all she has to do is use the Sky remote to change channels, she loves the simplicity of it. Good picture quality and great sound
If I hadn't read the reviews I never would have bought it.
Other than the fact I got safe, next day delivery, as always, the actual TV is incredible. Would never have even thought about buying a TV by RCA or Roku, thinking that they were just cheap rubbish but read the reviews, thought I’d give it a chance and so glad I did. It’s easy to set up and the picture quality is the best I’ve ever seen. Highly recommended.
Good picture
Good picture and sound not smart just a basic tv the remote needs to be pointed directly at the sensor and at close distance for it to change channels otherwise a good tv for the price.
Very good TV
TV reception is very good and even my older DVDs are really improved when played through my 10 year old DVD player. I will need to sort out the channel sequence though.
Very Good Value
I read other reviews before buying.
I am pleased to say,for the money it was a wise decision.
Easy to set up, just plug it in put and Aerial on it and you’re off.
Not all advertised channels!
I have a 24inch Roku rca tv for a few months now.I am unable to use the BBC iPlayer. It promises to download and work but nothing! It said on the box that it was available but no.Any ideas?
Excellent TV. Very good warranty.
I just wanted a standard, non Smart TV and this had good reviews. It is a very good TV and does everything I need. Also, it can record to USB which I didn’t realise it could do, so that is a bonus. The manual could be more detailed though as a lot of the functions aren’t described well enough, so you need to explore. The thing that really pleased me was that it comes with a 2 year manufacturers warranty rather than the standard one orbit around the sun, which is dire in my opinion. If it lives up to that warranty I’ll be happy. Very good value for money.
Good for the price
A very good TV for the price. The HD channels are very clear but I’ve seen better quality non HD channels. Overall the quality is good but the instruction booklet is too basic and doesn’t detail a lot of the functions. Took me ages to figure out why the auto scan channels were in a random order and didn’t correspond to the uk listing numbers. Sorted it in the end but it would have been nice to have more accurate instructions.
Amazing Purchase
I love this tv.
The picture quality is good, the price is good, the size is good.
I like the style of it, you have two options for the stand and its very lightweight.
Although a few times colours have flashed on the screen, I have ignored it and it hasn’t happened again.
The price is honestly unbeatable, I haven’t had any other issues with it so far.
Overall good purchase 🙂
32 inch smart tv.
Very good value for money. But i needed to do quite a bit of extra tuning to improve the quality of the picture. Still working on it to achieve the quality I want.
Okay LCD Panel
I bought it as a gift to pair with a Chromecast as I had purchased the standard version.
Overall they enjoyed it, I didn’t see them till the next day as they were binging content.
They like it, I find it okay as I’m used to more branded panels such as Samsung. However, decent size, okay colour production, and no thrills and whistles. Just a TV.
Recommended product.
This was the third TV I picked up to use in our caravan. I’d seen the good reviews but I’d always been put off by that ‘720p’ label – but I gave in and thought I’d give it a go.
So happy I did – this thing is awesome. It’s probably me being a nerd about the 720p thing – in practice you don’t notice it. The image on this thing is really crisp – no ghosting/motion blur etc. The colours and the black level are amazing for this price – it almost looks HDR to me.
Audio was surprisingly good too – very clean and there’s some bass in there too. We’d previously just been using a laptop plugged into the caravan’s stereo to watch late night/rainy day movies on our excursions but with this TV the audio is plenty loud enough.
Talking of watching media – this is running the Roku OS so it comes complete with a great media player app. MP4 and MKV containers play and scrub flawlessly (I haven’t tried AVIs though as it’s not 2002). One tip – when you are selected your media source i.e. USB drive etc, when you have the device highlighted press the asterisk button (*) on the remote to bring up the menu. Here you can change between grid icons and a list view – the latter being much more useful to see the titles of your media.
I’m not a big TV viewer – but set up was very simple and seemed to work well. Important to note is that you do need to register an account when you set this up which requires an internet connection. You don’t need to provide payment details.
It’s a very lightweight unit – perfect for mounting in a caravan if that’s your thing. The ‘stand’ is very cheap and cheerful plastic legs but they are quite stable once attached.
Very much recommended – don’t let the 720p label put you off!
Fast menus, stylish and light.
Hard to believe TVs have got this good for such a cheap price. 120 for a TV that looks great, weighs next to nothing and has all the smart features is amazing to me. Bought for teen daughters bedroom. She loves it, instant access to Netflix and Prime from dedicated buttons on the remote. Super easy to set up. I’m used to smart TVs having very sluggish menus but that’s simply not the case with this. Snappy and satisfying to use. The speakers are good too!
Highly recommended.
Great for the money
Purchased to replace a faulty tv in our kitchen, it’s nice and light for wall mounting, picture quality is very good, sound is easy to hear which helps in a noisy kitchen. Tuning was very simple and found lots of extra freeview channels to our existing one, and didn’t need a signal booster like the old one
Get what you pay fo
I had no choice, as I am on a low income. My previous TV gave up, ad this was the cheapest 32″ 1080p.
THe review is based on that, not comparing it to other TVs.
Screen – Watching TV programs, and streaming it looks great, no problems with black and colout fades are great, can’t see any blocky edges as the shade turns brighter/darker.
However, with a fullscreen white page and black text, I can clearly see the three backlights, as they are giving a brighter area around them. The text there is great, as it looks perfect, but between them it looks a little bold and starts to get a little fuzzy-edged.
Cannot fault it overall, as it gives great prerformance watching streaming videos.
Audio – leaves a LOT to be desired, very tinny and sounds like it’s reverbing close up. From a distance it sounds OK, just a little trebly, easily fixed by going 35% treble and 60% bass.
Remote control – great, I can point it away from the TV and it works.
If you just want to use it as a TV, it will be great.
If you want to use it with a PC, it leaves a little to be desired when using it for PC functions. It may also be problematic getting it into colour matching setup for printing if you use Coreldraw or any other high-end pantone apps.
I bought this for my DJ sets using AV via the HDMI from my laptop. Its a decent size. Not too large to handle and not too expensive to buy. It comes with loads of features I’ve not needed to explore but my impression is that its good quality and will last for years. The audio from the built in speakers seems pretty good too. I had onee problem though. After initial setup via HDMI one and my laptop it seemed to forget this setting the next time I powered it up at an event. Things got worse when I tried to select HDMI two as it needs a internet connection to change the settings which seems a but silly. I had to hotspot off my phone but I still couldn’t sort it out. Fortunately there was a TV engineerr who set things up for me but I was too busy to see what was involved. I’m still pleased with this TV and I just think I need to explore the features more thoroughly so I don’t come unstuck at future events. There were secondhanded 15 year old TV’s on the market for the same price as this was new. The setup is automatic through and email link. Very clever stuff. Get one, you won’t be dissapointed.
Bought for Christmas.
I didn’t want an over bearing TV.
We have quite a small front room, so perfect size, would make a good bedroom TV also.
Slim, fits nicely on a 50 inch TV cabinet.
Matches other industrial style furniture bought from Amazon.
2 friends put it together, took less than 1 hour.
2 shelves for sky/ BT box
Nik naks, books.
2 side storages spaces that go back deep enough to for encyclopaedia or large cook books.
Doors a Louvre style.
Actual cabinste is about 2 inches up from where feet sit on floor.
Looks nice, great price, highly recommend.
RCA Roku TV 55" 4K Smart TV Review
A great TV, but, there does seem to be an issue with the wireless internet connectivity.
On first turning on the TV, it scanned for available networks and I chose the appropriate one. After this, the TV updated its software and I thought everything was good to go, but this wasn’t the case. It became apparent the wireless connection had failed. To make matters worse, there was no way to make the TV re-scan for available networks. On scouring Google, this fault has plagued others. I gave up eventually and ran an Ethernet cable from my router instead. It looks to me like the software update upset things, but, strangely enough, even a factory reset has failed to make any difference. Anyway, an Ethernet cable is a more reliable connection, so it will do for me.
The TV has improved clarity and sound over my old Samsung TV, and the number of stations I can now view has increased dramatically. I can also watch Prime Video, YouTube and others without any fuss and bother. I also find the remote navigation a breeze, and it is plenty responsive for me.
I am happy with the TV, though the wireless side of things should be attended to as it is a bit of a head scratcher to fix (it means messing with modem settings and so on, apparently).
I have now paired the TV with my computer using the very affordable Wireless HDMI Display Adapter from Amazon (the cheap 7.96 version), which works perfectly (see my other review on how to set it up).
*** Beware for those buying this TV for an older relative – it’s a pain to setup and requires you to create/login to your Roku account, even if you just want to use it for regular TV. ***
Pros:
– Good value for money
– Picture quality OK (for the price)
– The menu & remote is quite responsive
– Startup time from standby is excellent
– Lots of connectivity (Wired & wireless ethernet, 3 x HDMI, composite AV, optical audio out)
– Nice features such as the ability to name AV/HDMI inputs as you please
– The Roku ecosystem is easy to use with the main providers all available
Cons:
– The initial setup takes ages and requires a Roku account and internet access
– The sound quality isn’t great (although perhaps inline with the price it is sold at)
– It’s only a 720p display (this applies to most 24″ TVs though)
– It comes without the feet attached – a cross head screwdriver is required
– The Roku activation process strongly encourages you to enter your payment card details (these ARE NOT required – do not enter unless you want to use pay-per-view).
As observation: It weighs almost nothing…. This may be seen as an advantage if you want to mount it on a thin wall or it may be viewed as evidence of extreme cost cutting.
Overall though I would buy this TV again.
I got this TV as my old 32′ Samsung started having double images on the screen, the RCA TV is more up to date (pity it has 720p only) I choose the non smart one with Freeview HD as I all ready own a android TV box, and the price was good for 32 inch TV. when tuning in the TV, I find the channels were not in order but allows you fix this by rearranging the channels. and when I hooked up my soundbar via HDMI ARC for some reason my soundbar would turn off if I pressed the volume down button and the setting screen would appear if a different button but I think it’s my fault as I put the soundbar in front of the TV. so if I point the TV remote away from the TV, I don’t get any problems. there are one or two concerns, the manaul and the remote don’t say RCA, and on the RCA website it says this TV doesn’t exist! I believe the remote is a generic one, made by HKC, I saw one on eBay, and the picture looks the same as the remote so I will get it just in case. this is not a ‘bells and whistles’ TV but it does the job. UPDATE April 2024, so far so good, the picture modes leave a lot to be desired. but I hack I find was to get into factory settings by just pressing the source button then press 2,5,8,0 and scroll down to other and press the enter button select picture mode and you can adjust the picture settings that are greyed out on menu settings. this trick also applies to the hdmi ports if you anything connected to them and the picture is dark or to much colour etc(but make sure you have selected the right hdmi port you need to adjust) but also, it’s not in the menu settings, but there is a game mode setting in the factory settings.
The last time I bought a TV was 10 years ago so I am comparing it with a something that is over 10 years old. My old TV only came with the BBC iPlayer and a couple of others that required subscription whereas the RCA is fully up to date with all the catchup apps. The tuner also turns out to be quite sensitive – I live 37km from the transmitter that is also behind several walls (I live in a mid terrace) and yet it is able to pick up all the channels with an indoor aerial. However,
1) there doesn’t appear to be a way to search the EPG. On my old TV, I could search by name or category (e.g. Star Trek or film) and see what (live) programmes are coming up. The only search that appears to be available is for on-demand content;
2) the IPTV “data” channels such as Vision TV don’t work. Considering that they work flawlessly on my 10-year old TV this is rather disappointing. Hopefully it will be addressed in a future software update;
3) there is an option to add “wireless audio devices” to the TV, devices such as speakers and soundbar with the graphic also showing headphones. I have not been able to get it to detect my bluetooth headphones;
4) the remote is essential the same remote used in a Roku streamer slightly modified for a TV. As such it is missing some common buttons like one to turn subtitles on and off with a single touch.
For the price this is not a bad TV although it can be a lot better.
Update:
I have now had the TV for nearly 2 weeks. The Roku App turns out to be quite useful and mitigates some of the shortcomings of the remote control. Using the app’s voice input, the many clicks that were previously needed to turn on subtitles can now be achieved by simply saying “turn on subtitles”. To open a “channel” (an app in Roku speak), you can say something like “launch ITVX” to launch the new ITV app.
Live TV may be paused if you connect a flash drive to one of the USB ports. However, beware that a current bug causes the pause buffer to be wiped if you turn off the display, so if you get a phone call in the middle of a programme, you can pause for up to 90 minutes but do not be tempted to turn off the TV screen to save electricity.
I tried to ask the seller about the failure to play the Freeview data channels through the Amazon website but did not get any response. There is no information in the supplied manual on where you can get technical support. Neither the Roku nor the RCA website list this model. I fear that once the Amazon return window passes, getting support may be tricky.
Update 2: April 2023
A couple of days ago the TV updated to Roku OS 12.0.0, build 4171. The update broke all of the Freeview catch up apps. Any attempt to launch any one of the Freeview apps from the home screen results in an error message saying “Channel Unavailable”. The only way these apps can be accessed now is via the EPG. With the EPG up, press “*” and select an app to start from there. The update is also causing the “private listening” audio to break up. Usually this can be fixed by toggling the headphones on/off button on the Roku mobile app. All in all, this is a poor update and it is not recommended.
Update 3: April 2023
The problem with the Freeview catch up apps has been fixed. Unfortunately, most of the Freeview data channels still do not work (see attached photo) despite the OS update.
