It works on my Series X. Nice and easy. Environment friendly attracts me as well. Just a bit disadvantage which is it has disconnected two times, yet I can live with that.

It works and is actually nice, but the black color on the promo images is fake
I ordered this remote in January on a pre-sale with an expected delivery in February. Got it in mid-March only. So, I was really waiting for it and as soon as the box was here, I played with it as much as I could.

    Pross:

    – It works completely fine as per the IR remote.
    – It does not go to sleep (so you don’t need to wake it up to pause your movie after half an hour – which is nicer than an actual Xbox controller in this case, that goes to sleep and needs time to start and connect).
    – The packaging looks “eco” and just nice.
    – A button to launch your favourite app (Kodi in my case) and many usual Xbox buttons.

    Cons:

    – The colour is much more grey than black. From the images here and even on their webpage, I expected more of a black remote. This is not the case.
    – The automatic backlit is weird. It lights up when I take the remote – and then it starts cycling off/on every several seconds even when I move my hand a lot.

    Other:

    – A USB cable is just a joke of ~11.5 cm in length (19 cm if including the connectors). I first thought I got a box without one, before actually noticing it.
    – Cannot say anything on the solar charging yet or battery life. Will update the review when I need to charge the remote with a cable

    Conclusion:

    – It’s fine and it helps in the use case I got it for – watching movies. Otherwise, it works, but my expectations were a bit higher than the result, so that’s the rating

A great media remote for Xbox!
Let me start off by confirming this remote, like many Xbox media remotes, does not support RF wireless connectivity and relies solely on infrared communication. Due to the infrared technology, you must point the remote directly at the Xbox and it must have clear line of site to the IR receiver. On both the Xbox series S and X, the receiver is built into the small black pairing button on the face of the console. One benefit of using IR is improved portability between multiple Xbox consoles – since it’s not “paired”, you can simply point it at any Xbox and have full control.

The remote itself is very well built and feels like a quality made component. It has USB-C charging in addition to a small solar panel on the back of the remote. I fully charged it via USB-C over a week ago and haven’t had to recharge. I’m not yet sure if the solar charging function is keeping the battery topped off, but I keep the remote stored face down with the solar panel up, just in case. The remote’s surface is a matte texture hard plastic, which I love, while the buttons are a grippy rubber material. I cannot stand gloss black plastics as they immediately scratch and show finger prints and this remote has none, thankfully. The button lights up automatically when you pickup or jostle the remote, making it easy to use in the dark, but the button layout is so logical that you can simply operate it by touch after using it for just a short time.

The IR blaster does seem a little weak, and I must aim the remote precisely at my console when I’m sitting 10 ft away. The volume/channel buttons are just okay. They’re small switches that you push forward or pull back; they’re a little stiff, but get the job done. Aside from those two minor gripes, I highly recommend this remote. If the IR blaster were stronger, or if Microsoft would allow PDP to make a wireless RF version of this remote, it would get 5 stars all day long. I may try getting an IR repeater to improve performance, but for the asking price of this remote I highly recommend it.

If PDP releases an updated version of this remote with a stronger IR blaster and regular volume/channel buttons, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

I read the reviews before buying this remote, but took a chance. I didn’t have ANY issues with it. It is an IR remote so it needs to be pointed directly at the Xbox. The remote itself is clean and sleek. The rechargeable battery (solar or USB-C) is a nice touch. No more looking for batteries when I need them.

    So far so good!
This is my initial review of this remote.
So far it works great!! I don’t know the durability of this remote as of yet but I will say it doesn’t feel cheap and flimsy. It feels pretty good in the hand and the button layout is much better than most of its competitors for example the back button is right below the left of the directional pad unlike most of its competitors. As for the IR you don’t necessarily have to literally point the remote towards your Xbox like most other remotes, I had the remote pointing straight up to the ceiling and still worked. I like the idea of it charging by solar but that remains to be seen on how reliable that will be, but you can charge it via USB-C.
The only gripe I have right now about this remote is that it’s not Bluetooth, maybe someday?
But other than that, this is a good solid option for a media remote for your Xbox one or series x/s.

My Xbox is within line of sight about 8-10 feef away from sitting areas and I have no connection issues. All the buttons work fine and remote can turn on and off the console out of the package. Battery does need charging once a week for me because I tend to hold my remote while watching TV and the keys are constantly lit.

There is a panel on the back that re-charges the remote. I have only ever seen that from the remote of my Samsung television, and the replacement remote for the TV is over $100. This is a well-made Xbox media remote, much better than all the others, and I believe I own and have tried them all. I wish someone would make a Bluetooth media remote for Xbox like the controllers use, but this one, like all the others, uses IR so you need line of sight to the console for use. It has USB-C in addition to the "solar" panel for recharging, there are no replace-able batteries.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAt first I thought it didn't work but a deep Google search I found that the sync button on the Series X, doubles as an IR receiver and my line of sight was blocked. Wish it was a Bluetooth connection because sometimes my inputs aren't read but I'm just spoiled by modern TV controllers that even work under the blanket and don't need a line of sight haha Next I thought it was black but it's a gray color like the trim on the Xbox 360 controllers. I also noticed each input is read once, for example if you have to scroll you cannot just hold down a direction key you have to repeatedly hit the direction key. Love the solar panel in the back and the backlit keys remind me of my Shield remote. Much better than having to use a Xbox controller for media but my only real nitpick is the line of sight.
