xmas present for nephew
his made me a very popular uncle ! the spec for this price point is amazing and the quality was great. i would purchase teclast again in a heartbeat due to the quality and high spec at the price.
At this price point...Superb Device!
I bought this tablet for my wife to use mostly as a ‘reader’.
However, the device is such a very good all-round Android machine that it’s starting to take over a lot of what she usually prefers to do on her lap top.
Set up was a doddle, even for this septuagenarian user.
Basically followed simple instructions and the Teclast and ‘The Cloud’ took care of the rest.
Only small criticism is the sound which isn’t superb but might not bother a lot of users.
It marries easily with a set of Bluetooth headphones which negates that moan so, I’m still giving 5 stars for this great value tablet.
We’ve just returned from an overseas trip and the device connected easily in whatever area we were in.
If it’d have cost me half as much again I’d still be well pleased.
Excellent product for the very low price (at this time under a hundred and thirty quid) so despite its faults it is still worth 4 stars, in my opinion.
The good:
*Good 1080p+ sharp image with good contrast, brightness to spare, and accurate colour
*Good specs with decent processor and 4GB of RAM which means smooth operation for everyday tasks and streaming videos
*Comes without bloatware
*Includes access to Google Play store with full range of apps
*Feels solid with metal back plate
*64GB storage out the box, further expandable
*SIM slot to enable use of mobile data if wi-fi not available (or even to use as a phone)
*Android 10 quick set-up – can copy apps, contacts and settings from your Android phone in minutes
*USB-C port for data connectivity and fast charge – nice firm connection, not wobbly like some
*Very competitive price
The not-so-good:
*The touch screen is a little rough to the touch; if I swipe my phone my finger glides effortlessly across the screen whereas on this tablet it drags a little. It does come pre-fitted with a screen protector (I don’t like these so peeled mine off straight away) so leaving this on may be an improvement in this regard. It’s not a deal-breaker at this price, and is very minor
* The built-in speakers sit on the under-edge when in foolscap orientation, which means they get blocked if the device is propped up on a stand. Not a concern for me because I always use a Bluetooth speaker with phones and tablets, because the laws of physics dictate that the default sound from these small, thin devices is always tinny and thin. But it’s still a strange place to site the speakers, as opposed to on the side edges.
The bad:
*Mine has a dead pixel about an inch in from one of the corners, which although doesn’t affect functionality is sometimes distracting. This speaks to poor quality control. I have already ordered a replacement in the hope this is a rare defect, and will be sending the first one back.
The ugly:
*The 10.1″ screen is surrounded by a thicker border than advertised (compare my photo with the main official product image – sorry for the bad lighting) which proves the stock images have been doctored. It is by no means excessive at about 6mm all round, but it’s about twice what the main stock image would suggest. This is pretty dishonest.
*It’s made in China. I must confess a twinge of guilt buying from a country with such natural rights abuses, but it’s difficult to find any affordable electronics these days that are NOT made in China. That’s no excuse – I totally gave in to the low price. If your own wallet permits, you may wish to look elsewhere.
The fact that I have ordered a second one due to the dead pixel on my first one is testament to how impressive this device otherwise is for the very low price.
Positives first~
1. Great picture! I use it to stream TV and the picture quality is excellent.
2. Great size screen for the price!
3. Easy to use, easy to set up.
4. Good amount of storage for the price!
5. Sturdy, feels expensive because of the metal casing.
Negatives~
1. Battery life is OK but my old Huawei tablet had a longer battery life even after using it for 2years (sporadically). This tablet streams live TV for about 7hours from full to empty.
2. The user interface could be more responsive, again, my old Huawei had better manoeuvrability. But for live TV and app use it is totally fine.
3. The sound isn’t great.
4. My old Huawei was still a better tablet than this even after years of use. This is the main reason I have given negatives. If I hadn’t had it so good with my Huawei I would have been more pleased with this tablet.
To sum up~
It really is a good tablet for the price! The picture is great and the storage amount is awesome! Sound is not so good but for a cheaper range tablet I wouldn’t expect great sound. I use a bluetooth speaker when watching TV and it works a treat! It is definitely worth the money.
So, there are a lot of tablets at around this price point. They often have much worse specs than they claim to have and are likely to be running much older versions of Android than they claim. They often use AllWinner processors with very disappointing performance. A lot of them have bloatware or malware built in.
This tablet is not one of those. The specs are exactly as advertised and the development team have done a very decent job of porting Android 10 onto this device. It doesn’t have a bunch of stuff that you don’t want. It works well and reliably.
In terms of performance, it is not the best (a Samsung S4 will leave it in the dust) but the performance for this price slot is remarkably good. Apparently a standard test on these budget friendly devices is to try to run Call of Duty. It runs pretty smoothly. It is better than I would expect for the price and perfectly good enough for normal use. The 4GB of memory really helps make this a smooth experience.
There is enough storage for most uses. The screen is more than acceptable with decent saturation and a good backlight. The viewing angle was pretty wide.
The internal speakers are… well, they are speakers. The tone is tinny and the bass is lacking. Audio over bluetooth is just fine and there is a headphone jack. The sound quality via the jack is just about OK.
The cameras are about what you would expect for a budget tablet. They do the job but are grainy in low light. You won’t be selling your SLR any time soon.
One exceptional feature is support for dual SIMs for voice and data. If you want a phone replacement then this will do the job nicely with a BT headset and you will have a very usable workhorse for editing documents and accessing the web anywhere that you go.
The physical build quality seems fine. The battery life is remarkably good.
In summary, very good performance for its price point. The Android port is decent. I found a few apps that didn’t work but the main ones are fine. The support for dual SIMs and phone support are great. I was expecting far less for my money but this has impressed me. I have not seen a tablet this good at this price point before. I would recommend it.
Received the Teclast P20 quickly and on opening the box was immediately impressed with the feel of the machine. It does feel like a more expensive tablet. The screen quality is excellent, and the fact that it has the very latest Android 10 was also very welcome. It seems pretty fast for all standard tasks and there have been no WIFI connection issues so far. Battery life seems very good as well, the 7 hours quoted not being unreasonable. I am not a gamer so can’t comment on its abilities there, but it was excellent for my needs, i.e. internet, youtube etc.. There are only a couple of downsides for me. Sound quality to the speakers is reasonable given the price of the machine but could be better, however, the headphone sound is to be frank very limited, with very little base and too much treble for my liking. However, I was fully aware of the limitations in this regard from previous customer reviews, and given the overall quality of the package, including 64gb of disk space and 4gb of ram this is a very good purchase for the price and I am very happy with the P20HD. With sound quality improved would have given 5 stars.
Overall my verdict for you if you do not want to read the rest is that I think this is a very good buy and very good value for money.
I have worked in IT for nearly 30 years but am not a tablet expert. Having said that, I would be happy to recommend this TECLAST tablet to anyone.
It is light, well made and speedy. When I compare it to my old tablet they are miles apart in terms of speed and battery life. All the functionality works very well, the screen presents a pleasantly coloured and very detailed image. The sound is good for a tablet and very clear.
I have found no problems with downloading apps and connecting to other devices. I especially like the quality and stability of Bluetooth which I have used to connect to my old fashioned hi-fi so I can listen to my old vinyl.
The only criticism I have is for the case I ordered. That arrived on time but I find that pushing buttons through the case is not very easy. This may simply be that the case covering is resilient and needs time to be worn in.
I was amazed when I unwrapped this Teclast t-Pad. The looks, weight and build quality are just like an Apple iPad. The box is neat and the packaging very secure around the device. I was looking for a tablet that would give me what I needed for a lot less money than an iPad. The t-Pad is an Android device and was easy to start up and get everything going and download the apps I needed as well as a good security app (Bitdefender). I need the tablet mainly for surfing and watching all my media on Amazon Prime and Netflix such as movies and ‘TV’ series. The screen and picture quality are outstanding so that was a big plus for me and there’s no delays in anything. It has a reasonable quality camera but I would probably not use that as my iPhone is my camera. The sound from the speakers is average but I use headphones anyway so the sound is loads better on those. So far, everything on this Teclast t-Pad is ticketyboo so very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it as a very good alternative for those who don’t have a big ‘Apple budget’. Cheers, Nigel H. from Warwickshire.
