Smells pleasant and is easy to use
I use this in a particular problem area where we were having difficulties with moths and it definitely seemed to help.
They were appearing quite commonly at that time and now we see them far less frequently.
I used them in that particular room with the door closed so the cats couldn’t come in, but I kept a window open for ventilation.
It didn’t seem to irritate my breathing pathways and I sometimes do have problems with products irritating my throat.
So I’m happy with the performance all round.
VERY effective moth killer...
This moth killer is VERY effective – I used half a can each in two bedrooms after opening up all the wardrobes, and there have been no signs of moths (or anything living, for that matter) since.
The smell is rather strong, but did disappear after opening the windows for a few hours. One can should be enough to do a small flat – I’d suggest two or three for a bigger house.
10/10
Seems to work
I have been using electric bug zappers to get rid of moths , whilst I like the results it is an unpredictable when a moth will fly into it so it is a waiting game and the best time is a night. However, I wanted to speed the process of getting rid of them so I thought that this Karlsten Moth Killer High Strength Clothes Moth Killer Aerosol Rapid Elimination, it appears to do the job at a strong scent. My only issue is the cos
Very effective but will need airing rooms afte
This stuff is really good at shifting moths. The warnings on the can should be followed though, so do leave a good amount of time out of the room before returning. And even then you may want to air it a little. This issue was well worth it though as there is a noticeable reduction in those annoying dust moths that are a real curse this year. Definitely recommend for an easy DIY solution to reduce moth numbers.
Seems effective
I’m not an expert but this did seem to have a positive effect on the carpet moths in my flat, it gave it a few sprays and I can see a reduction in the quantity of moths flying about the place.
I think for a deeper extermination you should probably get a real exterminator to eradicate the issue, however in the mean time or if its small, then this is a handy tool in your belt.
Overall I recommend this to anyone suffering from carpet moths
Moth killer aerosol
So the description states this is a:-
Karlsten Moth killer high strength clothes. Moth killer aerosol rapid elimination for moths In wardrobes, draws, carpets effective fabric pest control 300ml.
So far so good.
I recently received my nans old wardrobe and I noticed some dead moths at the bottom when we emptied it.
So in the front garden I hoovered and cleaned the wardrobe as normal.
Then I treated all whole thing with this spray, i first did the inside and I closed the doors because i was treating it outside. I didn’t want the spray to blow away. I them sprayed the outside, after an hour I opened the doors and let it fully air for about 3 hours before taking it in and filling it full of our clothes.
(I’m glad our clothes do not smell of mothballs)
If I was doing it inside I would follow their instructions which I’ve added below to treat the wardrobe in a well ventilated area.
*** There instructions:-
Evacuate people, animals, pets (included
terrariums and aquariums) and food and
tightly close the doors and windows of the
area to be treated.
*** Apply a 10 second burst per square metre of surfaces or apply a short 1-2 second burst directly at insects.
*** Immediately leave the premises and let the product act for at least 2 hours.
*** Airing:- thoroughly ventilate the treated
room before entering.
(airing between1 hour and half a day, depending on the possible vertlation level).
The price at the time of this review is 13.99.
So far so good
But I will update this review if needed.

Good for fumigating small areas
This spray allows you to kill a moth infestation quite easily. Simply spray as per the directions for the size of room you are treating and leave for a few hours to work.
After the spray has done its job ventilate the room well before using it again. Keep pets out of the way.
The spray is effective if used as per the directions, I’ve only used in cupboards however, not larger areas.
Time will tell as to its effectiveness
This is a slightly tricky one to review, as it’s quite hard to comment on its effectiveness at this early stage.
What I do know is that, at just under thirteen quid for a 300ml can, it’s pretty expensive. Once you’ve started fumigating a few rooms, it’s not going to l;ast too long.
When you do use it, be sure to read the instructions properly. You’re dealing with an insecticide, so make sure that you do exactly as you”re supposed to. I treated our two wardrobes, which are prone to moth attacks. Once sprayed, it smells really unpleasant – As you would expect from an insecticide. Make sure you ‘evacuate’ the room, to coin a phrase from the instructions on the back of the can. After letting the spray do its thing, ensure that the room is well ventilated before venturing back in. Trust me, you don’t want anyone in your house inhaling this stuff.
We’ll see what happens as the summer develops, as to whether the moth infestation is as bad as it usually is. Watch this space.
Kills moths effectively
It’s that time of year again and we need to protect woollens from rampaging moths.
It works as intended.
The warnings on the container are quite off putting about not entering the room after spraying for some hours but otherwise an effective moth spray.
Will be good to have available if we get an infestatio
Obtained more to have available in case we have an issue with moths than because of any particular infestation, this was chosen as it offers targeted elimination, so we can spray the room we see them in.
As it advertises long term protection, for weeks after application, we could then be confident that there will not be any return.
The main active ingredients are Cyphenothrin and Imiprothrin, according to information I have read, the Imiprothrin is the fast acting knockdown agent, then the combination with Cyphenothrin gives the residual effect for up to three months on non-porus surfaces.
The instructions are quite specific for use, that all people / animals / foodstuffs be removed from the room, all doors and windows tightly closed, then either a 1-2 second burst directly at insects or a 10 second burst per square metre of surfaces, then in either event leave the room for at least two hours, then thoroughly ventilate the room, with anything between one hour or half a day depending on the ventilation level within the room. It also states it can’t be applied directly to clothing or bedding, which rather conflicts with the statements for use given in the advert / product details.
Will be good to have available if we get an infestation.
effective but not the easiest to apply
Read the instructions well before using, be sure that all pets are kept away from the room you spray in, and ventilate wellm as the smell will be intense and really harsh. Once that’s done, it dissipates (you don’t need much either) and it seems to indeed just kill the little hungry horrors just when they land.
So a case of not quite truthful when it’s say it’s odor free, but effective as long as you take precautions
In recent years, I have often been plagued by moths around this time of year, so I was delighted to try out Karlsten Moth Killer High Strength Clothes Moth Killer Aerosol.
Firstly, I must warn you about the strong odour that arises after spraying it in a room. It does vary depending on where you spray it, but anywhere at or above your head height will be met with a strong and rather unpleasant smell. It was so overpowering that I had to vacate the room for a few minutes. However, the odour didn’t seem to linger too long, because when I returned about an hour later, there was no smell whatsoever.
I sprayed it in a wardrobe, on curtains, and on a carpet, plus on part of wall where I noticed some moths had landed. I had certainly seen a few moths flying about before I sprayed. I’m pleased to report that I haven’t seen any since spraying and will now target other rooms with moth tempting fabrics as a pre-emptive measure.
Having tried various methods in the past, this high-strength formula has so far effectively eradicated a smallish moth problem before it could take hold. I will update this review if it doesn’t provide at least a few weeks of protection, as claimed. I’m sure I will need to make at least one more spray application during this primary moth season, but that’s acceptable as long as it keeps them at bay.
In terms of value, it is not a low-cost aerosol, but if it can keep moths at bay and prevent damage to clothes, curtains, and carpets, then it is a very small price to pay. I give it a solid 4-star rating for now — if it lasts longer before needing reapplication than expected, I will amend my review to rate it 5-star. Fingers crossed.
Hopefully Good Moth Killer Spray
It’s slightly too early in the season to test this spray, as it is early spring, and the moths are probably just coming out for the first time.
The main ingredients are Cyphenothrin and Imiprothrin, which are both pyrethroid insecticides, which are dangerous (fatal) to many insect lifeforms, including moths. They are safe for humans in the low doses here.
Actually, the pyrethroid insecticides were originally isolated from the flowers of Chrysanthemum, and this spray also contains an extract from the open and mature flowers of some species of Chrysanthemums.
Instructions say you apply the spray to wardrobes and storage spaces. It is not clear whether you should spray the clothes themselves, or just the bare surfaces.
The spray cannister says spray on ‘hard & soft furnishings within domestic situations’. I suspect it is better on hard surfaces, but you could use it on carpets, & ? curtains.
Actually, I have some older moth killing cards with cypermethrin, but they only work for up to 3 months. I think I will spray those cards to ‘re-charge’ them and make them work again. I may also spray some corners of the cupboards where clothing doesn’t touch.
You have to be careful with these sprays, avoiding spraying near food, or bees, or aquariums. If you spray a significant part of a room, you are supposed to evacuate the room for 2 hours, probably in an abundance of caution.
I sprayed the mixture onto a piece of tissue paper. Apart from the initial smell of the solvent carrier it smells kind of fresh and herby – difficult to describe, but not bad.
Considering the ingredients, I have every reason to believe this product should work. I will update the review if there are any new insights down the line.
The one thing I am less happy about in this listing, is that it doesn’t seem to have a MAPP (Ministerially Approved Pesticide Product) Number shown – I thought that was a legal requirement. It also doesn’t seem to list the solvent in the spray can – so you can tell whether it is ozone friendly or not. I’m not an expert, but you would hope they should include things on the label which are a legal requirement.
PROS
-I didn’t see any moths the day after spraying
-easy to use (just be sure to follow the instructions carefully)
-used more like a fogging agent than the sort of spray you’d chase moths with, it’s supposed to go everywhere (which is great, as those pesky moths do like to stay in the dark crevices and pockets).
CONS
-the application and safety instructions are key to personal safety (and efficacy), so I’d expect them to be far easier to read (maybe even include a more easily read printed leaflet, to accompany the can).
NOTES
-don’t in particular spray this around cats (the main ingredient, cyphenothrin, is documented as being quite toxic to cats)
-I’ll admit I was wary of using an insecticide inside the house (one that is designed to be used to cover every surface, and penetrate into cupboards with clothing). But I read 20 or so articles (from general consumer sources, all the way into the scientific literature) and I’m satisfied that, as long as I follow the instructions (especially re: breathing in the spray), negative effects should be minimal (and positive effects should be maximal). But if I were you, I’d learn as much about the active ingredients in this spray as possible, so you can use it effectively, and safely.
MY STAR RATINGS:
1* substandard, mostly cons
2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros
3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros
4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons
5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros
