My deck bowl water feature is 50cm in diameter and 14cm deep. I wanted a surface ripple effect rather than a fountain, mainly to deter mosquitoes from using it as a breeding pool. This kit does the job well. It arrived promptly, was easy to assemble and works as soon as it’s sunny. It does need bright sunshine to work effectively but we haven’t used any of the fountain attachments as we wanted a surface ripple effect which it manages even on cloudy days. As it turned out I already had something that likes making a ripple effect in the bowl …. but the solar one keeps going all day and doesn’t make the kitchen floor wet!
Great item works a treat. Good value for money. Only downside is the cable isn’t very long so limited to where you can position the panel to obtain maximum sunshine.
I added this Fountain Pump to a bird bath. Before this very few birds came to the garden. Since adding the fountain the garden has been inundated with small birds enjoying drinking and bathing in the bath. I use the nozzle to spray the water sideways and the birds seem to enjoy it being calmer. Great watching them out my conservatory window. Negatives are it does not work as well on dull days and for best results the solar panel needs to face the sun. I’m thinking of adding a solar tracker to the panel.
This item is made in China (as usual it seems!) and when I unpacked it I thought I may have been ‘done’. The pump is so tiny, just about the size of a matchbox, that it seems impossible that it would be able to produce any water pressure, especially as the solar array is also small (about 26 sq. inches). However I set it up, and amazingly – albeit in the strongest June sunshine – it produced a light cascade extending to about 10 inches high and gave a sound of water movement. Any cloud and it will stop working as there is no battery in the circuit to retain power. If you only need a light water movement & don’t want to spend much money then this does do that but anything more you might consider one of the more powerful solar pumps if you need more head pressure and volume. Really difficult to complain at just over 20 so 4 stars.
Only works in full sun any cloud passing and it slows to a stop so a back up is needed for overcast darker days. Comes with a few different heads so you can use what suits you. Not long enough lead to put on top on my fence, easy to install
