Too good for kids
Simply put instead of buying a unknown kids detector which may or may not work here, for 34 your getting a well made all round metal detector from a known detector brand
Tested it for the depth capability at six inches and it worked fine – can be extended as shown on their video in the item details.
Its a shame in a way they went with the bone count LCD as it does limit age groups for gifting
Works well, easy to use
My 3 year old loves playing pirates, we live on the south coast, so this was perfect to take my little pirate treasure hunting. You get the metal detector, a spade and a sieve. It comes with a battery, so you can get going straight away. First of all I didn’t think it was going to be up to much, you had to screw 2 of the main pieces together and there was a long trailing wire to pop inside which u was worried would break. The handle lengthbis adjustable and you can also adjust the degree of the head. It’s easy to use and operate with a little lcd screen. You hover it across the ground as you go along and it beeps when it recognises something metal underneath. It works really well and sounded when metal was underneath. We’ve tried it out in the car park, the garden with soil and at the beach with no issues what so ever. At an affordable price and we can spend time together doing something he really enjoys.
Outdoor fun for the family
Put the games consoles down and get outside. This metal detector is so easy to use and works great! My nephew (aged 10) cannot get enough, he’s had it in the garden, took it on dog walks and to the beach – every time he’s enjoyed it, it’s like it creates excitement to go outside and detect metal of all kinds.
Honestly it’s a great little detector, we can spend hours out of the house using it or playing games with it by hiding coins for him to find. It’s great.

DR.TEK Metal Detector for Kids arrived well-packed. This is really fantastic for kids and works very well. Battery is included in the pavkage. It is waterproof and has an LCD screen. My nephew is busy with it and carries it all the time. Great fun for kids and it can be nice gift for kids. Good value for money.
A Birthday Party Winne
I gave this to my 8-year old niece for her birthday. She was having a party on the beach, and so as she was unwrapping her gift, I secretly pushed some coins into the sand. Off she went metal detecting, and as soon as she got her first ‘beep, beep, beep’ all the kids shouted in unison ‘Treasure!!’ She got the trowel and sieve and worked her way through the sand to find the coin. It was buried quite deeply at about 4″, so she used the detector again to see if the metal was in the pile of sand in the sieve or still in the ground. Eventually she found her prize and set off again. The only downside with this fantastic metal detector is that all the kids were clamouring to have a go. It’s easy to assemble, easy to use, the battery lasts ages, and kids (and adults alike) love it. A winner at a birthday party.
Easy to use for youngsters
Definitely a hit in our house we looked out our adult metal detector from years ago and went off to search for treasures.
It is easy to use it’s child friendly. It has an LCD screen that lights up when you locate something. It’s waterproof definitely a plus as we like beach hunting so you don’t need to worry when they search the rock pools. It’s colourful and reasonable priced gift for any youngster. Good value for money. Great starter to lead onto other detectors gets kids outside as well as it’s exciting to find stuff
A bit basic but works really well
This is a bit of a basic metal detector but for kids it’s absolutely fantastic. You can hide things in the garden and it will find them as long as they’re metal of course. The quality is actually pretty good and it’s easy to use for the kids. Very happy
Works well for kids fu
This easy to use metal detector works well at finding metal.objects and is very sensitive, it does go off a lot and picks up a lot from the outer edge but the center does give the strongest signal.
Very very simple to use for kids.
Only downside is the wires are quite thin inside and may not last a few take-apart and rebuilds.
A great bit of ki
This is a fantastic toy. We try and keep the kids out in the better weather trying to stimulate them and get them interacting with their surroundings. We babysit a lot and this is a great way to keep the older ones occupied. We buried things in the garden for them including their pocket money. Basically making a treasure trail with simple clues leading to the next item. Gets them thinking and looking. Worth the money and then some.
Something different to play with
I thought I’d get this as something different for the kids to play with.
They love it, they think they’re going to find buried treasure everywhere.
We’ve only used it in our garden, family members’ gardens and once at the beach.
It has a fun child-friendly LCD screen and their faces light up every time it goes off – like they’re about to find out they won the lottery. It’s usually a can lid, but we did find a penny – so this thing is starting to pay for itself.
It is a fun toy for getting kids to interact in the outside world – away from tablets and TVs.

My little nephew LOVES IT
My brother in law has recently got me into metal detecting something I thought id never see myself doing but its honestly so much fun!
My little nephew comes along with us and entertains himself searching around in the river bed or professionally securing our admittedly poor finds but now he can get stuck in too with his very own detector!
While it lacks in many areas compared to our adult detectors, it does register that there is an object in the ground, you just wont have any hints or clues as to what it is. The small screen is creatively designed to be more entertaining for kids too which is a nice touch.
Its so enjoyable to see the younger ones also get to join in on this fun little hobby! Just for that alone I’d highly recommended this product for any young budding metal detectors!
Works great, easy to use
We had a play with this at the weekend. I wasn’t expecting it to be much use as a toy, but it does a good job at finding metals. I let my nephew in the garden and we found a couple of metal objects but we are looking forward to taking on the common or beach. It is easy to use, the pole is adjustable so can grow with your child. Build quality is okay and it is lightweight. The screen shows bones on the screen to show strength. there is no discreet option to sort metal types but as a fun metal detector, it did a good job and is ideal for a kids first metal detector toy.

This DR.TEK Metal Detector for Kids arrives in a branded cardboard box, with a fun cartoon design. The adjustable metal detector needs putting together (which is easy enough) and arrives inside a plastic bag, in parts. It features an LCD display with an appealing cute puppy design. It is very clever! The more bones that appear, the closer the target is! All you have to do is press the on-off button for three seconds.
With an improved accuracy of 40% you can search for aluminum, gold, silver, cooper and jewelry. The coil is waterproof which is very handy for kids to use this in all weathers. At only 470g it is easy to carry around for children of ages 3 to 12. The adjustable stem ranges from 69 to 100cm.
This would make an excellent birthday or Christmas present and is ideal for use in the woods / on a beach or anywhere else! Includes a metal detector, a sand sifter, and a sand shovel. Great for parent / children bonding. It’s easy to use for children and looks the part in green and black.
Pleasantly surprised at the capabilities of this "junior" metal detecto
Now this metal detector has really surprised me but in a good way.
A Victorian penny found at a depth of 5″ is testament to the capability this dectector has to offer. While it offers no discrimination between different conductive targets, it does however register that there is “something” in the ground and for newcomers in the hobby, an opportunity to dig knowing there is something under the surface.
The description suggests a maximum depth of 4″ yet I found this Victorian penny at a depth of 5″ so the max depth will vary and if the ground is wet, you will find objects a bit deeper.
This really does work a treat and for the asking price vs capability this is perfect for an aspiring “youngster” or even an adult (though it is a little short for most adults).

Metal Detector for Kids
You want to get your child off the Gameboy, Nintendo Switch or Sony Play Station then get them one of these. Metal detecting can be very lucrative and there was even a TV series ‘The Detectorists’ that might have sparked their interest. Get a map with a few Roman roads on it, check out the aerial view on Google and you will be able to see it on the ground and if there is public access (they are often public rights of way along old Roman roads) get out there in the fresh air and find stuff. Don’y live in the countryside but near the sea then get them to a beach- it’s amazing how much jewellery and coinage is lost by beach-goers. They will find it exhilerating and soon want a better detector. This one is good enough for starter and even comes with a trowel and sieve
