Can the thermal camera see pipes and termites inside walls?
Thermal cameras can pattern objects behind the surface of walls, ceilings and floors, only if the objects are in different temperatures. Usually, it happens. If a thermal camera gives a contrasted image, you should look for moisture and damage signs
The device makes clicking sounds and the screen briefly freezes. Is it abnormal?
It’s a normal process. The camera periodically calibrates to optimize image quality and measurement accuracy. The image briefly paused while hearing a “click”. It’s more frequent during start as the detector warms up, or in cold or hot environments.

Thermal camera works great. Picture is quite good even with the limied resolution. Suited my needs for finding areas in my walls and ceiling that didn't have insulation or enough. Don't know that it has the resolution or feature set(auto generate reports with actual camera photo)I would want for professional use but for home use it's probably the best you're going to find for the $$. Reached out to the company via support email and was able to get software for desktop use as well.

Unbedingt beachten: Die Kamera MUSS vor der ersten Inbetriebnahme erst ein paar Minuten am Handy/Tablet geladen werden, sonst klappt die Erstinstallation nicht!
Also: Die Kamera habe ich problemlos an meinem Samsung A53 zum laufen gebracht, nachdem die Kamera ein paar Minuten im Handy geladen hat.
Dann hat er auch gleich Updates der App (vorher laden, QR-Code zum Android Appstore liegt bei) gezogen, ein Firmwareupdate durchgefhrt und war betriebsbereit. Die App ist selbsterklrend, funktioniert auch ohne groe Experimente.
Ich bin wirklich erstaunt ber die Mglichkeiten / Ergebnisse, die das kleine Ding abliefert. Fr meine Bedrfnisse absolut ausreichend. Auch das mitgelieferte, kleine Etui ist richtig wertig verarbeitet und drfte die Kamera mehr als ausreichend schtzen.

Facilidad y exactitud
Funciona muy bien. Tiene muy buena resolucin y parece muy exacta. Se autocalibra cada 20 segundos si lo necesita, para cambiar el rango de temperaturas. Tienes que activar OTG antes de conectarla al movil, y despus al enchufarla ya se abre la app. Puedes hacer fotos y vdeos.

Amazing thermal cam
I purchased this smartphone thermal imaging module a few days ago and it really impressive me. It has brought a whole new level of functionality and experience to my phone. Buon compromesso prezzo qualità
Quando apri la confezione e guardi questa camera si nota subito quanto piccola e curata nel dettaglio, nel maneggiarla ci si accorge del giusto peso, che appartiene solo alla grande tecnologia applicata all’oggetto. Usandola ci si accorge delle sue potenzialit, fa ci che deve. L’unica nota a riguardo, che devo ancora analizzare con calma, e che quando la batteria del cellulare scende al disotto di una certa percentuale la termocamera non funziona pi. Uno svantaggio o vantaggio non saprei, per mio conto un vantaggio, poich mi evita di scaricare troppo il cellulare. Le immagini sono anche fluide e permettono, quindi, di avere una buona visione di ci che si osserva. In definitiva per il mio uso principalmente domestico/amatoriale perfetta, specialmente per il suo ingombro in tasca oppure in uno zaino, appena un poco pi grande delle cuffie bluethooth che normalmente si portano appresso. Ottima marca, immagini buone e buon prodotto.

The image is clear and bright, with a respectable resolution. There are some settings to adjust the image, colours and range. They aren’t explained very well but you can tinker with them to your own requirements. I am using it with a Galaxy S24 Ultra, so I am unsure if a budget phone will be as good but I don’t see why not.
The sensitivity is extremely impressive. Try walking (even quickly) along a carpet and see your footprints! Try facing a window and you will see an eerie vision of yourself even if you can’t see the reflection with the naked eye! The temperature will show instantly as you pan around and it’s quite an eye opener to see how much heat is radiating from various appliances and tech around your home.
It’s expensive (mid range) but worth it in my opinion, especially when it’s on offer as it was when I purchased. It might be a bit of a toy to some but it does have some genuinely useful practical uses.

Works really well...
Very surprised with this. Didn’t expect it to work as good as it does. Really good for detecting cold spots, where heat is escaping etc. It is a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. Just plugs into bottom of your phone. Set up is easy, just scan the QR code in the booklet. The QR code on the actual camera didn’t work for me but the other one did fine. Really happy with this and had a bit of fun testing it out.
Works grea
I wanted 1 of these mainly to see escaping heat but also because I now own an RTX4090 GPU so I can keep a close eye on it’s connector as it’s prone to melting. Works as expected, simple to set up and use the app on phone.
Works well for android phones
I got ahead of myself with this camera seeing works on android and thinking would work on iphone15 as has USBC connector now, it doesn’t work on iPhone and glad to see added this to listing.I had to get friend to test this as we are a family of iPhone users and was surprisingly easy to set up and works well with clear images.We used to check for heat escaping in house and there was a lot.Works well and simple use if android phone use
Absolutely fabulous!
This comes nicely packaged and has it’s own little case with hook clip, so you can take it out on the go.
The app was simple to download and install from the play store and recognised the camera just fine after giving it permission.
Straight away it gets to work on the thermal imagery. The hotter something gets the more white it becomes and the cooler, the more purple/blue it is.
This makes it simple to see even small differences in temps, meaning this has a multitude of uses. Here are some I have use it for so far:
1, Electronics repair. I have used this to find a faulty component on a board that was shorted and getting too hot. This instantly showed me the point of failure and enabled me to quickly replace the component and repair the device.
2, PC Cooling check. I had a little problem where my PC would get too hot playing some 3D games, so I checked the PC under stress and noticed the GPU wasnt warming the heatsink as well as it should be, so I changed the thermal paste and it now runs much better.
3, Playing Golf! Yes, playing golf. I used this camera to find my balls in the rough. The camera really is that sensitive to heat, that even a golf ball that has just been handled and hit can be found in long grass, as it would have a slightly different temperature than its surroundings, making it easier to find those miss-hit balls. I am not sure if this will work as well in the warmer weather, but under 10 degrees outside, it seemed to be ideal.
4, Home Improvement. You can use this to find the areas of your home that are letting in the cold air. This is usually around the doors and windows, but I really didn’t realise how much heat was lost via a catflap and power vent in the kitchen. I have since ordered a new catflap with better seal and am looking into better venting.
I am sure there would be other uses that people could find for this device, but for these alone I really love this camera. It has become a bit of a game changer for me.
It’s incredibly simple to use, it auto calibrates to your surroundings and is basically idiot proof.
5 easy stars from me, this really is ideal and the price is 259 but that has been reduced before, so look out for discounts, but even at 259, this is very good value, as there are other brands that cost far more for basically the same thing.
Good quality
The HIKMICRO Mini2 Thermal Camera for Android is compact and lightweight and comes in a nice little protective carry case with a carabiner attached so it’s super portable.
The Mini2 offers a temperature range of -20C to 350C (-4F to 662F) with an impressive accuracy of 2C (3.6F), ensuring precise and reliable temperature measurements.
It offers full-screen temperature measurement (Center Spot, Hot Spot, Cold Spot, 3 Custom Spots and 3 Areas); 15 Different Color Palettes, Audio Alarm when the temperature is out of range and 4 adjustable image settings : Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Color Distribution.
This is Android only and as my phone is a rugged one, with rubber covers on the usb c port etc, it wouldn’t fit “as is”. Luckily they’ve got that covered with a little extension piece, and if that doesn’t work a small curly extension cable too, both work well and are a great addition from the manufacturers.
The app connected fairly easily and gives real-time streaming of thermal images, as well as image and video capture for reporting.
Good to see if there’s any cold/hot spots in walls etc especially after new insulation fitting.
So far I’m impressed. Will also be fun to look in the outdoors for any hidden wildlife.

The ‘HIKMICRO thermal imager for android Type-C Mini2 for Android, 256 x 192 IR Resolution, 25Hz Refresh Rate, 50 Wide Angle’ arrived in a branded box that included instructions, USB C to USBC extender, a coiled USB C extension cable and storage case.
I have been considering trying a thermal imager with my phone for a couple of years now, but never taken the plunge. I ordered this to use with an Alcatel 1s which has a Micro USB connector and hoped that using a micro USB adaptor to USB C would work, and the good news was it did, which means when I upgrade my phone to one which will almost certainly have a USB C connector, I will be ready to go.
My first surprise was how small the thermal imager is, I include pictures of it beside an AA battery for comparison.
With the camera connected to my phone and the software installed, the camera was quickly put to the test around the home with obvious hot and cold spots being immediately noticeable. I suspect it is going to take some time of trying the different colour options till I find the one I prefer and then making adjustments to other settings.
I am hoping to use this for wildlife where a bird or animal maybe quite close but hard to see, the heat signature may give away its location.
The other use I have for this camera is when wood turning, as it is easy to impart too much friction and therefore heat especially when sanding, I can now monitor for that in future.
There are two things that might make the experience of setting up the camera even better, though it might be a case I just missed it. First provide the name of the software that needs to be installed as I don’t use Q codes. Secondly make it possible/easy for the user to define the destination folder for any images/video taken. I store all my media content on the microSD card.

This was a little painful to install. Says my phone can run it. Samsung a50 yet I had so many issues with it not working or even finding it. Had to try another phone not sure which as it was my brothers.
Once the software was installed it worked on his phone. Very easy to set up on his phone.
I got this to check my house and any heat leaks. None were found. So checked a few other houses and spotted a few so told them. They were happy to know.
Very easy to use once set up. Just point at the location you need to check and watch the phone screen. How simple can it be.
I gave the camera 4-5. Only because I could not get it set up on my phone when Samsung says it should be supported. I may have missed some settings on the phone I’ve Googled a few things to work out what I’ve missed. I will keep trying to get it to work and adjust the review to say so when needed.
The Manual is useless. Sorry. But for me I cant read it without using the Hubble Telescope. The writing is that small I could not read it at all. Needs bigger writing and a bigger Manual.
The camera came in a very nice well padded box. So if you droped it by mistake it will survive. It’s a nice touch to keep it well protected especially at the price of 259.
Works well once you get the app going
Comes in a nice box, and has a handy little carrying bag. There’s a curly extension cable, as well as a little extension plug. Both are handy if you’re using a thick phone case and the camera doesn’t fit quite right.
To start the app, you need OTG enable on your phone, and then start the app and plug in the camera. This is where I had an issue. The app wants to ask for permissions, but my phone wants to ask if it should always start the app when the camera is plugged in. I told it yes, and then the app shows no camera. I plug it in again, and the app detects the camera but then shows nothing again.
You need to allow the app to access the camera, microphone and storage.
Once it was up and running, it was a bit slow to start, and sometimes would disconnect so I’d need to unplug it and plug it back in. There was a firmware update available from the app though, which has made it much faster and stopped the disconnections.
The camera itself works well. It good enough to pick up the temperature difference of the joists in the roof, as well as hot and cold spots in the walls.
Although the resolution of 256 x 192 sounds very low, the picture is good on my 1080 x 2400 phone.
