Great value Gem of a projector!
This budget projector is a surprising gem! incredibly user-friendly with a smart interface and a wide range of apps built-in. No need for a laptop or phone to enjoy Netflix or YouTube. Plus, it’s lightweight, easy to set up, and delivers impressive image and sound quality. The inclusion of Miracast and a tripod thread adds to its versatility. A great choice for portable entertainment!
Amazing for the price but no more Netflix
I just recently looked at laser projectors that cost 4 figures so I was amazed to be offered this HD Maxwork mini projector with a price of just 60.
Firstly – it is incredibly easy to use. I just plugged it in and sat it on a table – the projector switched on and adjusted the picture to compensate for the angle it was at. It runs on an Android operation system and so connecting it to WIFI and finding a couple of apps to run was almost as easy as using my phone. I will say that updating it was mildly worrying as it seemed to freeze for a long time – almost long enough to make me want to start interfering and possibly brick the whole device. However it did eventually sort itself out after being left alone.
I have uploaded a picture of me projecting a huge image on to a roughcast wall that is bumpy, dirty and “brightstone” rather than white. The picture on a proper white wall, meanwhile, is great for a 60 device. I downloaded an app from Play called Fotoo in order to use this at a wake and it would have been ideal, but it turns out the venue had no suitable wall and offered us the use of their TVs instead.
I’m very impressed with this and it was about to get a five star review, but then lost a star because Netflix has suddenly stopped working on it (note it has been blurred out of the listing).
It’s fine
Ok, so this is a decent projector for kids birthday parties, and – at a push – football. And whilst it’s true that projectors like this would have cost several time more just a few years agothis is not even in the same universe as ones costing 2k. So don’t get you4 hopes up. It’s fine but you won’t be using it more than a few times.
For the money this packs a punch
Review of: Maxwork enterprizes Mini Projector – Indoor & Outdoor Smart Projector for Bedroom – 1280×720 HD Resolution, 4K Upscaling Support – Built-In Speaker, HDMI Input & Output – Up to 200″ Projection Size
This is the kind of projector that will not wow you but equally, for the money, it won’t disappoint terribly.
It is easy to set up and connection to a phone was easy, not that you need to do so though because the built in apps work well (we just wanted to skip signing in to them!). The image quality is fair but it copes well with ambient light. Image stabilisation was good for a product at this price. It was easy to change the screen size.
Sound is, well, average; it is a small unit. BUT, thankfully fan noise was very low.
We had a go projecting on the ceiling, a large surface, a small surface and even a sheet. All were good.
For 60 at time of order this is a mighty piece of kit and it more than delivers at that price point.
ALTHOUGH I RECEIVED THIS PRODUCT FOR FREE VIA THE AMAZON “VINE” PROGRAMME, I VALUE MY INTEGRITY SO ALWAYS GIVE HONEST, UNBIASED OPINIONS.
FOR ME:
A 4* PRODUCT IS GOOD – It does everything it says it should.
A 5* PRODUCT IS EXCELLENT — It does everything it should and MORE or PARTICULARLY WELL or is EXCELLENT VALUE
LOWER STAR RATINGS ARE GIVEN WHERE THERE IS A FLAW, A DESCRIPTION IS MISLEADING or THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE WHICH WILL BE CLEARLY STATED.
Almost perfect but could use a horizontal axis too
I was really pleasantly surprised with the quality of this projector. It’s small but the brightness and sharpness of the picture is much better than other budget projectors I have used. The resolution is also native… So you get what they claim, unlike others.
It’s so quick and easy to set up and the apps work great. You can connect to your phone for a hotspot if you want to use this while camping and have a generator. The sound quality is good enough and loud enough that if you aren’t fussy will do the job fine on its own.
The vertical adjustment is a great idea and works so well. However it’s all a little pointless if you can adjust underneath to get a straight picture. The only way is to balance items underneath it at the exact angle and hope there’s not even the slightest bump. This could have been fixed with adjustable screw type stands underneath to level it. With that change this might just be the perfect portable projector.
Very good for the price.
This mini projector arrives in a light brown cardboard box with white printing measuring approx 15.5cm x 12cm x 20cm.
It would be easy to wrap and might make a nice gift for a teen or young adult, but it’s not a high end projector that could replace a tv for a household.
Inside the box, you get the projector itself cushioned in foam top and bottom, with a cardboard box containing the lead, the remote and a small instruction manual.
The remote is the usual small black looks like every other small remote with no branding or clue what it goes with you get with many things nowadays. It requires 2 x AAA batteries (not included).
The manual is in English, German, Spanish and Russian and is a pretty basic quick start guide.
The projector itself does very well for such a compact device and would be great if you don’t have a lot of space and are looking for something smaller.
It’s fairly easy to set up once you’ve downloaded the update and works with Apple or Android devices, so you can cast from pretty much anything.
This comes with Netflix and YouTube built in, which makes it easy to get straight into watching either of those without having to download apps or cast from another device.
It’s not all that bright and only works at 1280 x 720p so best used in a dark room against a light/white wall.
It comes with a built in stand so you can angle it to suit rather than needing to get a tripod to use with it and has a small neat footprint.
It does have a fitting for attaching to a tripod if you wanted to set it up on one, so it’s your choice.
Comes with a 3 pin plug so suitable for use in the UK.
For the price, I’m really impressed.
I’ve used projectors that cost twice as much that are no better than this one.
Grea
I have cream wall and great full size ,, all headphones, wifi, google chrome works
Now f1 in big time
Only down side picture not the best like 4k but defo worth 60
Easy to work and set up.
This a very easily handed projector in terms of setting up and using,
Over many years I’ve had different types of projectors and the modern ones available now
are night and day easier to use and set up. Also the space needed to operate is much smaller.
I’ve used a couple of new projectors recently setting them up for friends and my experience
is they are all straightforward. Which is just as well.
I used a wall for projecting on too and although slightly
grey is showed the colour and detail needed on screen. You get sound as well and that’s probably
the only item I thought there could be help with as slightly weedy with little base.
Has a stand as standard which can be altered in angle. From ceiling to floor. Not heavy and very
neat. A nice easily used projector with good colour and not heavy.
As you can tell I was impressed as to what you get for the money.
A versatile mini projector that actually works, and works well
There is a saying, “You get what you pay for” and at the time of this review this mini portable projector was 59.99, and I personally thought compared to some that this mini projector was going to be basic and with a poor to average picture.
I was wrong, this mini projector and at what I consider cheap actually has plenty of options and most importantly the picture actually is really good, when projected onto a good stable background.
I have tried all the different ways of projecting, from using a USB stick, my laptop via HDMI and bluetooth from my smart phone, all worked faultlessly.
For me, I couldn’t stream some films wirelessly, like from Apple TV and Prime due to copy right laws, but there were some things I could watch, so not a total disaster.
I also found that I had press the button on the remote twice before the command worked, I soon got use to that though.
The speaker is ok, but if you are wanting good thumbing sounds with your films then a bluetooth speaker is a good option as it will connect to these, it did to my Echo Studio no problem.
The picture, well I don’t have a screen to project on but I have now ordered one, not cheap but I have gone for a motorised one that will hang outside in my wooden Gazebo as this is where I’ll be using the mini projector.
I first tried it out on our ceiling and it worked really well, nice crisp picture, but sisn’t do my neck much good.
The proper trial was at a friends house, another great thing about this mini projector is that’s very portable, he has a screen on his lounge wall and a projector on the ceiling, and to be honest, he was really impressed with the functions and quality of the picture from something a fraction of the price of his projector.
The only reason I have given 4 stars is because in the one I received there was a slight problem, something inside the lens that caused a small dot on the screen, can only see it on light images, but when you see it, it’s always there.
All in all though I am really happy with mini projector and appreciate Maxwork sending it to me free to review.
Small but packed with features
This projector comes boxed with instructions, remote and power cable. Build quality seems fine, the projector is attached to a circular base and can be angled all the way up so is perfect for viewing on the ceiling as well as the wall. It can also be angled down. The projector includes all the basic ports I need – USB, HDMI and 3.5mm audio. My one major criticism is the lack of a lens cap, I hate it when projectors don’t have this feature as I am keen to keep dust out. The power cable is also a little shorter than I’d like.
The projector runs on the Android operating system and the menu is easy to navigate. Picture quality is better than I expected, naturally it’s better in the dark on a white screen but in the daytime on my wall it’s not too washed out. While it supports higher resolutions, the projector is not full HD so is no match for 1080p or 4K projectors though it can downscale. Focus adjustment works well, with automatic correction making things easy. I get the best results when the projector is pointing directly at a flat surface. The sound is decent given how small the projector is but I always prefer to connect external speakers to get some extra bass. Thankfully the projector is relatively quiet so the fan noise isn’t a problem.
I find the projector easy to use, though not all of the apps work properly, with lagging and freezing on occasion. I mainly use USB and HDMI though, so the apps are a bonus to me and the main ones I wanted work fine so overall I am very happy with this projector. I wouldn’t use it for premium content but for casual viewing and ceiling viewing it’s ideal.
Seems well made and good quality but you need a certain level of technical knowledge to set it up.
Maxwork Enterprises Mini Projector
Firstly I have to say that I have no experience of projectors but I fancied trying this one out to see if I could watch programs through my iPad onto a larger screen via the protector. I’m sure once I figure everything out I will be able to do that but I should point out, in case people are at the same boat as me that the instructions that come with this projector are extremely basic and actually next to useless unless you have a good level of technical knowledge already. It also does not come with any cables other than the power cable. I have set the projector up and connected it to my wifi and I have managed to download the update so that’s a start, I also managed to get it to pair with my iPad so that’s good but that’s where it ends. I currently have no knowledge of where to go from here to actually watch or mirror anything from my iPad. I will persevere, I have ordered some cables to see if it will work that way, and will have to do more internet research and failing that, I will have to find a 15 year old lol. What I can say is that what I have seen so far on the projector looks amazing quality and the projector itself looks really well made. It is only my lack of knowledge and the lack of instructional help that has been the problem. If I manage to get things working as I want them I will come back and update my review.
The best projector I've ever had!
I’ll start my review by saying that the projector is smaller than expected but it’s amazing! It’s very easy to set up as you only need to plug in the power cable and then set the desired angle for the projection screen.
The device will turn on within a minute and the first thing you see is a selection of apps such as Netflix., YouTube, and Google Play (wow)! You can actually download apps and watch your films directly from the projector which is something I’ve never seen before. The projector can be connected to the wifi and then it’s like a smart TV.
The image quality is amazing and will look even better on a projector screen (looks amazing even when there’s a bit of light in the room). Very good software and user friendly. The speakers are not the best but for a projector they’re brilliant. The projector fan is not loud and I didn’t notice any overheating issues which is good. There is also a remote controller included which is very good.
The best thing about this projector is that you can zoom in/out using the settings which is handy if you need to fit the image in a frame and it has the option for keystone correction which is the best thing I’ve ever seen on a projector.
Pros:
– Lots of apps and works as a smart screen
– You can watch Netflix, YouTube, etc without a connection to a laptop or phone
– Miracast and other smart functionality which is handy and works perfectly
– Very easy to set up and it’s lightweight
– Tripod screw thread at the bottom of the device
– Great image quality
– Good speakers
– Smart functionality and very user friendly software
Cons:
– None!
I would highly recommend this product. 100% happy with it and it’s a great projector for the price.
tiny, bright for such a small projector, Android functionality, easy to set up. Loud fa
PROS
-it’s tiny (much smaller than my rather ancient work projector, which cost almost 10x more)
-very easy to set up (it even prompted me to install an update)
-good connection to my bluetooth speaker (internal speaker leaves a lot to be desired)
-for such a low-priced projector, I’m impressed with its brightness and contrast ratio (a dark room is ideal)
-the right-angle connector for the AC cable is a nice touch
-angle adjustable stand (my work projector has just a tiny foot that goes up and down a few cm)
CONS
-fan is constantly on, and is noticeably loud
-edges of image not as sharp as the rest (an issue for subtitles)
-one of the product listing screens showed an app I frequently use as being installed, it was not. It was quite a faff to log into the Google Play Store with a mere remote (I use complicated and long passwords that are fine to enter with keyboards, but certainly not with this remote!), just so I could download the app.
NOTES
-I’ve never had an android device with a remote like this one has, it was quite a faff to use the remote to log into to my wifi network (which has an extensive alphanumeric password). Happily, I didn’t make a typo.
-once downloaded, the update took long enough to install to make me worry I’d bricked the unit (happily, I did not)
MY STAR RATINGS:
1* substandard, mostly cons
2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros
3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros
4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons
5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros
