light goes on, light goes off
Pretty much the simplest device in the Hue lineup. Useful for lamps that don’t have a smart bulb installed. I suppose you could use it for other electrical items too like fans, anything where control is as simple as on or off.

    Christmas plug
I purchased this plug to save myself the hassle of climbing behind the Christmas Tree to flick the lights switch on. It makes it much nicer asking Alexa to turn on the Tree Lights. However this isn’t its only application I also have another one my Kettle so I can boil the water before getting out of bed.

    Fantastic and compac
I purchased this over the Kaza switches this time, due to its size, and I really wish I would have gone with these now rather than the slightly cheaper and far bigger Kaza switches.

Works flawlessly with Alexa, the same as all my hue lights, will certainly be buying more in the future.

Simple way to expand the Hue ecosystem
Relatively expensive, but it unlocks further opportunities to control devices with the Hue ecosystem. Easy to set up and used to control a USB adapter plug to power a third party USB COB LED strip lighting – therefore it can be much longer (and taking into account the cost of the Hue plug, much cheaper overall) than the Hue strip lighting. Switching on/off, the plug’s relay can be heard clicking, but it’s not a real annoyance.

    Good for not intelligent lights
Needed this as got a twinkle tree for the wall, which doesn’t have a switch and is usb. Bought this to plug in twinkle light and table lamp (which is hue light). Perfect, slotted into my room set ups nicely.

Works fine with Applehomekit (hub required)
Phillips Hue accessories are generally more expensive than some of the competitors, but I hardly if ever get the “some of your devices are taking a long time to respond” message from Siri in connection with them, this plug adapter is no exception and has worked faultlessly

    Reassuringly well buil
If you’re switching a heavy current load – like a radiator – you’ll want a wifi plug that’s properly built and safe. This is reassuringly constructed and works faultlessly with our other Hue bits and pieces. I’d not want to save a few pounds for something like this.

    Solid performance
This is the first smart plug I have brought and it’s working very well. Use it on a lamp on my desk. It’s lovely being able to go to bed and control it on the Phillips app on my iPhone. Might get another.

    Smart plug for Harmony control
I wanted something that would be reliable for turning my subwoofer on and off as part of my AV setup for my tv as it doesn’t have an automatic standby/low power mode. It’s constantly waiting on a signal and therefore the power circuitry is constantly live. I also needed something that would integrate with my Logitech Harmony Elite which due to its age and lack of support for a lot of newer devices meant it wasn’t as easy to select something compatible.

This works great for this purpose, even if deviating slightly from its intended use (as a smart plug for a non-smart light), and was incredibly quick to connect to my Hue hub, name and configure for use with Alexa and Harmony. Literally 5 minutes, if that, and we’re up and running.

There are some quirks due to the Hue ecosystem expecting it to be a light, but none of these are really functional issues, just oddities due to it controlling a non-light device. These include:
    * if you add it to the same room as other Hue lights in Hue or Alexa and say “turn on/off the lights” it will trigger the hue switch as well as bulbs – fix this by putting it in its own room
    * in Harmony it only appears as a light, which is fine as you can assign it to a plug button on the remote and configure it within an automation, but does seem a bit odd to see a light called subwoofer

My only real criticism is the price against other typical wifi/zigbee/matter plugs which tend to be half the price if not less – but for straight forward setup within an ecosystem that has limited compatibility these days, I can easily overlook this as it does exactly what I require.

    Another brilliant hue produc
I absolutely love hue products. Yes I know they are expensive but for me they work so well and so easily and always have a great high end feel to them. These plugs are no exception they connect into the hue app very easily and at the swipe of a phone can be turned on anywhere or even programmed schedules set, you can see just how easily from the included video of the app. Also integrate so easily into Alexa and Siri connectivity

    Ease of use
This has been brilliant over Christmas, able to control Christmas tree lights and out door lights. As long as you have the Philips hue hub paring is straight forward then set the days and times save it and forget about it and let it do its thing. Definitely a keeper and will be using this next year.

No issues with the seller delivery was fine pick up was at an Amazon locke

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWorks well in the Hue ecosystem
I already have a lot of Hue lights so am well acquainted with setup and use of these products. I actually wanted this for use in the shed alongside a small heater and temperature sensor (from SwitchBot) and a couple of IFTTT programs so I could stop the shed from going below 0 degrees. I was sceptical about the range and operation as it was outside and through the wall of the house however there have been no issues and the unit works perfectly. A little button on the top to operate in manual and that’s all there is to it. Only minor “issue” is that it still sees the unit as a light when in the app as a standalone “room” but that is really the only thing and not exactly an issue.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSuperb Smart Plug
Hue products are the best if you are prepared to pay the price. I have the hub and different Hue devices and they all work seamlessly and are pretty much instant in response. I have just purchased some of the Nanoleaf lamps along with some tiles – they are also at the top end of the price range and are decent. However, the response time is no where near as good and there is a switch lag of a second or two which has made my mind up completely. Philips Hue is the best. This plug was on offer at 25 and I already own another so I know how good it is and easy to integrate into my hue set up. Plug it in and add to the app – takes a minute and then you have perfect control ability to switch your plug smartly. I would not waste money on cheap smart plugs unless you are prepared to accept mediocrity.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersHue Quality
Over recent years I’ve ended up with a mish-mash of smart plugs around the home, but after getting a Hue Smart Plug it became clear they are streets ahead of the competition. He plugs themselves are of great quality, and it’s great to have the button on top rather than the side for anyone who might want to switch it manually.

The Hue app is just great too, and easy to use. For Apple iOS users it is fully HomeKit compatible. The family can use the devices on their phones too, as they are “guests” in the HomeKit app.

The Hue kit is not the cheapest but you get what you pay for, but it is worth being patient for deals and offers as they do crop up.
