Slow..
Convenient transfer of videos from phone to tv it’s just extremely slow, like 2gb takes about 10 minutes to transfer on any device I use…but works end of the day….
Having 256GB in something so small is game changing! I formatted it as an encrypted APFS drive so I can password protect it and it has been solid so far. My only complaint is it heats up very quickly to an unbearable temperature, which makes me question its longevity.
A* Flash Drive
Very good and well made, just pay the extra from a reputable brand then the cheap oem versions on sale here
Used to copy miss photos over so they can be backed up, happy to recommend
Great little external hard drive
Took all the photos of my phone to stop Google insisting I pay them money each month. Backed then up to this little bit and very happy with the rear of doing so. Android phone to this drive worked perfectly them from this gadget to my lap top worked with out faulty too!
miniature USB drive
This is a REALLY SMALL device and does exactly what it is supposed to and has both USB abd USB-C ends. The only draw-back is that it runs very hot if left connected to a port but this doesn’t seem to affect its performance.
A very useful tool when you are swapping information between laptop or table
Very flexible with the business at both ends. Holds a substantial amount of files, which means it is very easy to save and move across to tablets, as mine don’t have USB ports. Probably just as well as the last one that did have one, I wrecked it when I got a plastic USB stick stuck.
Very good!
Does what it says, well pleased. Didn’t realise it was that small, but that’s actually good. Now just to find a very small plastic box, to fit it in for safety. Reason, it will take 5 different series with all episodes, ie POI, GOT, Discovery, etc, and all otg. Happy!
It's a wonder bu
The product works very well between the alternate USB points and the software on Android gave a quick win in tidying up my phone.
But ut is pretty small and there is no way that I can see to attach it to a keyring or the like. How long before I lose it?
great drive
faster than my old usb drive. this one is doing 410mb read and 190mb write. almost double the speed of my old san disk usb drive. this is so small so would be easy to lose. attach it to something. it’s plastic and easily flexes on the USB-A port but should be fine. might buy another one! i’ve tried many other USB drives but San Disk is always reliable. highly recommended.
Surprised that the 256MB version is only formated to FAT32, not exFAT.
In general, I am very pleased with my purchase but it seems quite ridiculous that it comes formatted to FAT32. For such a capacity, this is ridiculous. I copied nearly 200GB to it before checking the format. I am currently copying the entire content, including the software it came with, back to my C: drive, before reformatting to exFAT and moving everything back.
Does the job!
Bought from Amazon Market Place so arrived without any original packaging and no instructions. Could get it working on my Samsung tablet, but the drive couldn’t be “seen” by my iPhone 15 Pro Max. After reformating the drive to FAT32 on my windows computer it now works perfectly on my iPhone. It’s great to have a device that works across all my tech stuff, Android tablet, window computer, iPhone 15 Pro Max (USB) and smart TV and is reasonably quick when downloading video, music and photos to play across multiple devices, recommended!
Very useful flashdrive that can go both ways
Good value flash drive that has both the USB A and USB C options. One thing to note though is that the strength of the lock when it slid out isn’t great. Sometimes when I’ve gone to push into a stiff USB slot, it has gone back in (don’t you hate it when that happens). Solution is to hold the slider when pushing it in – not a deal breaker but slightly annoying. Aside from that it’s great!
Dual USB, seems good but not compact ond
Need an adapter?
I bought this product assuming it would fit both my tablet and my phone as well as having a conventional USB on the other end. It would greatly save time downloading photos from my phone to my PC/laptop. Alas the product fits neither my phone nor my tablet. My wife had once bought an adapter which does fit those devices and has a conventional USB Type-A port into which I can fit the product, but it’s clumsy and has little benefit over my previous method of transfer of files.
On a positive side it is SanDisk and thus very reliable and has a large capacity in a small package. Furthermore it is very good value for money.
tiny, versatile/universal, cheap and fast!
This is review specifically of “SanDisk 128GB Ultra Dual Drive Go USB C Flash Drive” variant (there are quite a few slightly different product variants here).
It took me a while to find out that it’s rather pointless to aspire for 64GB or smaller flash disks even though I only needed 32GB, because they cost almost the same as 128GB variants (which due to the design and laws of physics will simply last longer and are usually a bit faster than the same device with a smaller capacity). Then I looked for fast products that don’t cost an arm and a leg, and this one was clear winner. 12 for rated speed 150/400 write/read MB/s in 128GB capacity variant.
I need a USB-A right now but I also have devices that have only USB-C in my household so this having both ports is just perfect.
I was actually surprised how tiny the flash disk is. I ran a “dd write test” to see how fast I am able to write to it on my iMac and the average speed for dumping 10GiB of data onto the drive was 94MB/s – pretty good if you ask me, especially for this price!
So I’m absolutely satisfied with this. Yes you can find an odd 64GB flash drive for 4, but at that capacity you don’t want to sit there for a week to create a bootable rescue drive or copy a film at the speed of maximum 2MB/s do ya. And I’d be concerned about the lifespan of that cheap one too. This Sandisk 12 flash drive is just perfect (unless you need bigger capacity – but they come as huge as 1TB – though that’s then for a bit different , expectably).
I needed a USB-C flash drive for my Quest 3 VR headset to store my movies, and the Sandisk USB-C Flash Drive ticked all my boxes. I opted for the 256GB version in a gold finish, and I’m glad I did. This is one solid, high-quality, metal USB-C flash drive.
After it arrived, I immediately formatted it to exFAT and loaded it with 3D movies for VR use. The average transfer speed ranged from 70MBps to 230MBps. When I connected it to my Quest 3, the flash drive was immediately recognized by the SkyBox VR player (note: the Bigscreen Beta doesn’t support flash drives yet). Note for all Quest 3 users: You need USB-C 3.2 to be recognized by your VR headset and SkyBox VR player.
I also tested this USB-C flash drive with Samsung mobile phones running Android, and the connection was immediate. This drive can also be used as a backup for your gallery and other files.
My only complaint is that, due to its small size and full metal body, this thing gets very hot! So be aware of that. Otherwise, I’m giving it 5 stars because it is solidly built and looks more expensive than what I paid for it.
Product Overview
The SanDisk 64GB iXpand Flash Drive Luxe is a versatile storage solution equipped with both Lightning and USB-C connectors. It is designed to provide seamless data transfer and storage expansion for iPhone, iPad, Android devices, PCs, and Macs. The dual connector design ensures compatibility across a wide range of devices, making it an excellent tool for users who switch frequently between different platforms.
Pros
Dual Connectors: The inclusion of both Lightning and USB-C connectors allows for easy transfer between Apple and Android devices, as well as PCs and Macs. This versatility is a significant advantage for users with multiple devices.
Portable and Durable Design: The compact and sturdy metal casing makes the iXpand Flash Drive Luxe highly portable and durable, ideal for carrying around without worrying about damage.
Easy Data Transfer: The drive supports fast data transfer speeds, making it convenient for quickly moving large files such as photos, videos, and documents between devices.
iXpand Drive App: The companion iXpand Drive app provides an intuitive interface for managing files, backing up photos and videos, and even directly recording videos to the drive to save space on your device.
Automatic Backup: The app allows for automatic backup of photos and videos from your iPhone or iPad whenever the drive is connected, ensuring your data is safely stored without manual intervention.
Cons
Price: The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Luxe is priced higher than some standard USB drives, reflecting its dual-connector functionality and premium build.
App Dependency: While the iXpand Drive app is user-friendly, relying on it for managing files and backups might not appeal to users who prefer using native file management systems.
Lightning Connector Length: The Lightning connector is slightly short, which can be an issue for some iPhone or iPad cases. You may need to remove the case to ensure a proper connection.
Detailed Experience
I used the SanDisk 64GB iXpand Flash Drive Luxe extensively with my Samsung Galaxy S21 and MacBook Air, and it delivered excellent performance across both devices. The dual connector design is incredibly convenient. Switching between my phone and laptop for transferring photos and documents was seamless and hassle-free.
The USB-C connector worked perfectly with my Galaxy S21. Transferring files was quick and straightforward, and the drive was instantly recognized by my phone without needing any additional setup. This made it easy to move large video files and photos off my phone to free up space.
On my MacBook Air, the USB-C connector was equally effective. I used it to transfer documents and media files between my phone and laptop, and the speed was impressive. The drive’s compatibility with macOS ensured smooth file management, and I appreciated not having to deal with compatibility issues.
The iXpand Drive app, while primarily designed for iOS devices, still provided a good reference for the type of user experience one could expect if using it with an iPhone or iPad. The app allows for automatic backup of photos and videos, which I found convenient, though I didn’t use it extensively with my Android phone.
The build quality of the flash drive is impressive. The metal casing feels robust and can easily withstand the rigors of daily use. Its compact size makes it easy to carry in a pocket or attach to a keychain.
One minor downside is the price, which is higher than some other USB drives. However, given its dual functionality and durable build, the cost is justified. Another potential issue is the dependency on the iXpand Drive app for certain features, which might not appeal to all users, especially those who prefer using their device’s native file management system.
Comparison
Compared to other dual-connector flash drives on the market, the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Luxe stands out for its robust build quality and user-friendly app. While there are cheaper alternatives, they often compromise on durability or ease of use. The iXpand Drive Luxe offers a premium experience with reliable performance, making it a worthwhile investment for users with diverse device needs.
Conclusion
The SanDisk 64GB iXpand Flash Drive Luxe is an excellent choice for users needing a versatile and reliable storage solution compatible with a wide range of devices. Its dual connectors, durable design, and helpful companion app make it a standout product in the market. Despite minor issues with the Lightning connector length and app dependency, its overall performance and convenience make it highly recommended for anyone looking to simplify data transfer between Apple, Android, and PC/Mac devices.
If your like me and like to keep your photos on your phone but are frustrated that most phones no longer have external storage (this really, really annoys me as I refuse to pay stupid money for a phone just for additional storage) then this little gadget is just for you. Whilst I’m not happy I’ve run out of space on my phone this has made things so simple to put my photos on a storage device and free up some space. I already use Amazon photos to back up my photos but I’m never reliant on one thing. You can download the app but I haven’t actually used it, instead just copying my photos over myself. Transfer time is surprisingly speedy. I’m a fan of SanDisk products and this has certainly not disappointed! Definitely recommend this, its a decent size memory wise and really quick and easy to use
I recently purchased the SanDisk Ultra 128 GB Dual Type-C USB 3.1 Flash Drive in Silver and I am extremely satisfied with its performance and versatility. This flash drive has quickly become an essential tool in my digital life!
Firstly, the speed of this flash drive is impressive. With USB 3.1 technology, transferring large files or backing up data is a breeze. I was able to transfer a 4GB video file in just a matter of seconds! Whether it’s movies, music, or documents, this flash drive handles it all without any lag or slowdowns.
The dual Type-C and USB 3.1 connectors are a game-changer. I can easily connect it to my MacBook Pro or any other USB Type-C-enabled device. No more hassle of carrying multiple flash drives or adapters. It’s a true plug-and-play experience, and the compatibility is excellent.
The build quality of the flash drive is top-notch. The sleek silver design gives it a premium look and feels durable in hand. The retractable design protects the connectors when not in use, ensuring they stay safe from damage. I appreciate this thoughtful feature as it adds to the overall longevity of the product.
In terms of storage capacity, the 128 GB is more than sufficient for my needs. It allows me to store a large number of files, photos, and even HD videos. Plus, the SanDisk SecureAccess software provides an added layer of security for my sensitive data, giving me peace of mind.
Overall, the SanDisk Ultra 128 GB Dual Type-C USB 3.1 Flash Drive is a fantastic product that offers excellent performance and convenience. It’s a reliable companion for anyone who needs to transfer or store data quickly and effortlessly. Highly recommended!
Great little USB drive but both have different specs
The first one I ordered was delivered with Read/write speed of upto 400mbs and was very well made. The cover had a smooth operation with a nice click when locked into the open or closed position. However the second one I ordered is an older model upto only 150mbs and the cover is loose with no click so clearly not made to the same standard as the first one. I am guessing they updated the design for the faster model. To be fair the description does state 150mbs but I was still a little disappointed to receive a slower device with worse build quality. Otherwise it would get 5;stars as the first one is excellent.
