Yes size really did matter I wanted a smaller fork for the borders and not a massive big fork to dig a garden ! The fork is not too tall more of a compact size, ideal for a female as not so heavy. I couldn’t see the point in paying a lot for a fork but think this sturdy fork is very good value for money and aesthetically very pleasing. Would recommend Spear and Jackson and the supplier as received well within time
I am stronger than it is
Probably my fault that I bent a tine. Almost managed to bend it back again. It wasn’t a load I expected to bend it, but it’s still usable, still in solid use
Be aware only a lightweight fork.
I like the feel of this fork but be aware it’s only a border fork which means it’s not suitable for anything other than light soils. I’ve been very careful when using it but I’ve already managed to bend one tine. It’s still very useable but if you’ve got any hard work to do look elsewhere.
A Good Fork With a Few Quirks
A product we are going to have to live with the next years. I am confident, that I’ll get used to it.
However, it was unexpectedly short (length information was missing for most gardening tools at Amazon). The fork prongs do not point into the working direction, but in a 30 angle to the effective direction. So applying heavy force with the foot is a bit of a problem.
At the point of the shaft where the halves meet, the wooden edges are sharp. So to avoid injuries of my hand I will have to sand those edges prior to intensive use.
The material seems to be of decent quality, The steel part is – from a design standpoint – well crafted and quite strong. This fork might well survive me. Spring can come now.
