If you can get this for under $90 this is simply a no brainer over the competition. The only other adapter worth considering is the Carlinkit as it also has GPS passthrough. This was highly recommend by a Youtuber, CarPlayLife, and rightfully so. It's quick due to the fast framerate refresh and GPS passthrough helps with battery life so it's using your car's GPS vs your phone GPS. You just need to upgrade the firmware as soon as you get it and can be done upgraded wirelessly over the air (OTA) without plugging adapter into a computer. Firmware support is likely going to diminish over time/non-existent over the years but you'll likely only need to upgrade the firmware once for the GPS passthrough.

I am more than happy with this little dongle. Installation was a breeze and now I no longer have to fiddle around with cables every time I want my Apple CarPlay to work. I’m using it with an iPhone 14 Pro on iOS 18.
It usually boots up very quickly but the odd time it takes a couple of seconds to kick in. Any time I’ve had an issue connecting to an app it has usually been because of a problem on the phone rather than the dongle itself.
Overall I have to say that it’s a great bit of kit and definitely worth having if you’re doing a lot of short journeys and hoping in and out of the car a lot.

Works straight out of the box. Very quick to load, smooth to navigate the menus. Has not frozen or rebooted once. Small does not get in the way or heat up. Used in my Mazda 3 with scroll wheel works flawlessly.

It's Android Auto, but wireless
It does exactly what it says, plug it in and connect to it.
It says it can do Apple Carplay as well, but as I don’t have access to an iPhone I can’t say whether it works
Difficult to update firmware, but very fast bootup and good performance
The device itself is no bigger than any USB wireless adapter and comes in a small box with a USB C converter cable and a manual.
Updating the firmware wouldn’t work from the car via my mobile when accessing the firmware page, it just wouldn’t download the firmware. In the end, I put the dongle in a PC which has Wifi and Wired connection, and connected my PC wifi to the access point in the dongle, and I was able to update it that way with the PC downloading the update via my wired connection. This is very important, as the newer firmware has GPS passthrough from the Car to the phone which improves performance.
Once setup, opening the car door and the phone screen appearing on the car dashboard is around 15 seconds, and often happens before I could get the seatbelt on and start the car. In fact the longest delay is the car head-unit doing it’s own bootup.
Phone call performance was very good, as is touch screen performance, seemed very fast.
Music playback was fine, and I didn’t notice any difference between wired & wireless performance.
The Wi-fi itself in the dongle is Wifi 4 (n band) across 5ghz, so the bandwidth is good.
Only tested with iphone on IOS 17.5, so can’t vouch for Android performance.
Works perfectly straight out of the box
My iPhone hates connecting to Carplay in my Audi eTron with a wire. The connection will never hold and controls are laggy. Miraculously, the setup on this took seconds and it seems to work absolutely perfectly – navigation, audio, steering wheel controls etc. If anything goes wrong I’ll update this, but so far I’m very impressed.
Good upgrade for my car’s entertainment system
My work car did not have any entertainment besides the radio so I have decided to upgrade the system with this carplay which allows me to connect my car system to my phone without having a lot of cables in the car.
This device is small, compact and efficient and allows me to connect the phone each time my phone to my car without any hustle.
The installation process is very simple, just connecting to the usb port and connecting my phone to the car through Bluetooth.
It is great to listen to music as I drive for hours on the road and I also use it for navigation instead of using the phone every time. This is very convenient also for my phone as I can keep it in my pocket and save the battery for longer.
Another practical addition of this carplay is the opportunity to receive notifications directly from my phone and also update the carplay using online updates staying compatible with my phone at all times.
Works As Expected
This wireless adapter is a great way to upgrade a wired apple carplay or android auto unit in your car.
You just plug it into the USB port where you would normally plug in your phone and then the car sees it as a phone and your phone will wirelessly connect to it. I used it with my iPhone with carplay and it worked great.
I could play music and everything as you would expect and it was very responsive. I would recommend it.
Short charging lead
Handy dongle for not having a phone left out while driving. Keeps cables to a minimum by using bluetooth but I did need to keep my phone charged for the Bluetooth usage.
User manual is very small. But fits in a glovebox.
