I bought this for my Nintendo Switch thinking it was going to be easy to put on. Boy was I wrong.. If you are not familiar with taking apart the entire Switch console, then I recommend to not do this yourself.. I wound up messing a lot of things up on my Switch. My power and volume buttons stopped working, then my cartridge reader stopped working and lastly my micro SD card reader is now not working.. All because I tried to replace the shell myself. I tried to replace the shell while watching the instructional video and once I got all the way down to the mother board, I decided to quit. I wound up having to order a replacement flex cable for my power and volume buttons to get them to start working again and I also had to order a new game cartridge reader. Thank goodness I was able to get everything working properly again. I was never able to replace the shell on my Switch. So buyers beware, please do not attempt to do this on your own if you're not familiar with taking your whole entire Switch console apart. I guarantee your Switch will not work the same afterwards. Let the professionals do it for you..

It’s a pain to get on, but once you get it on it looks and feels good. It has a nice color too, and blends well with other pieces of the same color. My one complaint it doesn’t say that you need a heat gun or hairdryer when removing the screen.

I did the backplate and front plate of my switch. It worked out so well! I had no experience with disassembling a switch whatsoever. I dove right into it with a YouTube tutorial and it worked out! I love the look! I recommend it for sure! Be patient and gentle when disassembling and I promise the outcome is so rewarding! Se dovete aggiustare una Nintendo Switch, perchè non cambiarla completamente?
Mi sono trovato molto bene con il prodotto, la plastica risulta soft-touch e di buona qualit. Anche il taglio non ha sbavature alcune.
Dovendo cambiare lo schermo della Switch ho deciso di trasformarla completamente e renderla completamente bianca (troverete la stessa recensione per la cornice anteriore e per la scocca posteriore).
In confezione vengono fornite, in entrambi i casi, cacciaviti e viti per il disassemblaggio e l’assemblaggio.

On/off button too big
We’d fully fit it altogether however once turned back on it kept shutting down. We’d taken it apart again and found that the on/off button was much fatter than the original one. So had to change it back to the original black.
Broke a ribbon cable while installing
Probably my fault rather than theirs but I severed the screen’s small ribbon cable while trying to install. I followed extremerate’s own installation guide on youtube, have ordered a replacement screen. I’ll update this review once it’s (hopefully) fixed and working again 🙁
UPDATE: the replacement screen arrived today and it’s looking great! The casing itself really looks the part, especially with the matching game card slot and buttons on the top. I will say it’s not a job for the faint of heart, maybe stick to the backplate if you’re not confident carrying out a full tear down of your console.

Qualitativ leider nicht optimal. Man sollte die Switch nach dem Umbau nicht noch einmal ffnen mssen.
Das Case gibt leider recht schnell nacht und verzieht sich auch ein wenig und passt leider nicht haargenau. Dennoch ist es fr den Preis vollkommen in Ordnung und sieht nach dem Gesamtumbau auch Hammer aus!
Amazing, better than the original!
I bought this as my sons switch vent grill was badly damaged, the fit and finish of this product is perfect, as good if not better than the original. The tools supplied are better quality than the generic one you get else where.
The switch is passing down from our 13.5 year old boy to our 4.5 year old girl for Xmas. He didn’t look after it too well and had a lot of scratches and his left joy con was drifting, the joy cons also weren’t securing to the switch as strong as they used to. Came across ExtremeRate products on Amazon and realised I would be able to do a complete re-shelling and fix up of the console to make it more girly too.
I have little to no experience when it comes to things like this but I have never been too afraid to open things up and give things a try.
First of all, I replaced the drifting joy stick, then I swapped out the plastic clips for metal ones before starting on re-shelling the joy cons themselves. It look a little bit of examining and playing about to figure out how it comes apart and goes back together, but it was not overly complex.
Then came the big job, the console itself. The new case came with a back shell but no front so I opted for white front shell to contrast the rear shell and compliment some of the white features of the new shell. I initially took apart the entire console, bit for bit, mapping out the screws as I went along. I ensured I was meticulous and slow. After doing that I realised that I could have just separated the digitiser screen from the front shell to expose the screws and not dismantle it all.
I made I few little mistakes putting it back together, nothing too worrying, so ended up closing and re-opening the console a few times but after some persistence and care I got there.
The trickiest part was removing the digitiser, it’s pretty well stuck down and I also didn’t use heat to soften it up but I was gentle and careful.
I think the end results speak for itself. It looks amazing and has added a whole new life to a 4 year old console. The warranty is long gone so there was no risk of losing that anyway. The replacement parts are all high quality, even down to the tiniest of screws.
I have now ordered some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut to top up the thermal paste on the heat sink (as it was starting to look a little dried up) just to be sure and keep the console as cool as possible, so one more open up and job done in time for Xmas.
Would highly recommend these products! If I can do it, you can too.
